A Haven for a Writers' Retreat

Review Submitted: October 19, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My sister and I are writers and looked for a place to get away and accomplish a few goals--not always easy to do with husbands and energetic dogs to distract you. We couldn't have asked for more. The owner's have thought of everything. The view was perfect and everything about it was inspirational...not only for writing. Our week was a time of relaxation, spiritual renewal and creativity. Thank you, Alex and Cathy, for sharing your beautiful home. We hope to return next year.
Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the favorable words. You both were a pleasure to get to know through our conversations and emails. We truly appreciate all your kindnesses. We thank you for taking the time to write your review to let others know how much you enjoyed your stay at our vacation home on the central Mendocino coast.

I agree that it is amazing how relaxing and inspirational the house and the view are. Whether it's two sisters getting away to do some writing, a family coming together for a fun and meaningful time together, newlyweds on their honeymoon, an individual seeking quiet time away from the crowd, or any small group of family or friends hoping to explore a beautiful area and to recharge their batteries, the Corey House is the perfect vacation choice because its location and view are so serene and majestic.

Memorable Vacation

Vicki and Danny Arroyo Grande, Ca.
Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
First of all, our family has rented homes for our vacations many times. The house was not a disappoint! The home has everyhing and more that we needed to unwind from our schedules at work. It has everything to make a house a home. A lot of attention is put into all areas of the location, the layout, and the amenities. One evening we enjoyed a glass of wine on the deck overlooking the ocean and we were greeted by donkeys and deer just over the fence. The Irish Beach is just breathtaking. We took our dog with us and she loved the freedom of running up and down the waters edge. We will diffently add it to our places to return. Thank you for making us feel so very welcome in your beautiful home. We will be back!!!

Owner's Response: Vicki and Dan,
Thank you for the very kind words. You and your family will always be welcome at the Corey House. Even though you live about 500 miles away, we hope you return on a regular basis. Please remember to plan ahead as the house gets booked up pretty far in advance.
Thanks again,
Alex and Cathy

All the Amenities You Could Want!!!

Fraulein Santa Rosa CA USA
Review Submitted: February 4, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
The Corey House experience is a delight from start (making reservations) to finish (staying in the home). The owners (Alex & Cathy) are fantastic to work with and want to do everything to make your stay in ther home enjoyable. Their attention to detail in their preparation for your visit and especially in the home itself leave nothing to chance. The kitchen and bedrooms are incredibly equipped for great meals and great sleep. We were two couples and 2 dogs (Labs) and we had plenty of room as well as privacy. The spa under the starlit sky is a great memory. If you do not want to cook, there are good restaurants in Elk and a further drive north to Little River and on in Mendiocino. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away from it all. We plan to return to Corey House soon!
Owner's Response: What a great surprise. Thank you for the very kind words. We welcome your return visit. Because the location is so special, we feel we must always do our best so that all who enter can fully enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the experience.

A Peaceful Getaway

krod1 Santa Cruz, CA
Review Submitted: January 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
A beautiful and serene place for a getaway, this house was perfect for a few days of rest and solitude. As you walk in, you will see the view from the great room right away and sense the serenity, and feel you've made the right choice. Our few days stay truly didn't seem long enough. As our intention was to find a place for rest and renewal, the clean, spacious and bright house has everything needed to enjoy the time there without leaving, or take an invigorating walk, or even take a short drive to the beach. We did drive to Mendocino, and enjoyed the quaint town with it's historic buildings and picturesque walkways along the cliffs. Though the sightseeing is wonderful, we found ourselves happy to just stay in and enjoy the house! The beautiful, well stocked kitchen invited us to make dinner every evening, and at breakfast we introduced ourselves to and were charmed by the local donkeys that grazed on the hillside just beyond the fence. The owners are wonderful to deal with, and provided for everything needed, and more. We love cool temps, and our stay in June 08 provided that! We had such a nice peaceful time, found that we love this part of the California Coast and this place, and it will truly be a future destination for us again!
Owner's Response: Thank you for the very kind words. Thank you for making a special place more special by writing a very beautiful poem in the guest book at the house. Your family will always be welcome in our vacation home on the Mendocino coast.

It should be noted that we also offer warm temps to those who prefer warmer weather.

The Best Bar None

KTSCARLETT Sacramento, CA
Review Submitted: November 11, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
My two best friends and I stayed here with our dogs and had the most marvelous time! I agree with the review about the attention to detail - it was perfect. We loved the kitchen, and all of the amenities provided. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. The view from the house was lovely. The grocery store In Manchester has a wide variety of goods and the prices weren't too bad. Point Arena isn't too far away and has several shops & little restaurants in the town and at the pier. Don't try to find a pair of shorts in November though - no one had them in stock! Even though the weather wasn't the greatest we still enjoyed ourselves, and managed to get one glorious day at the beach, which the dogs as well as the humans thoroughly enjoyed. We will return!

Delightful Coastal Home

Steve Rad Denver, CO
Review Submitted: January 30, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
My first comment must be about the owners Alex and Cathy, who without thier vision of a beautiful home at such a wonderful location my experience wouldn't have been possible. They were helpful, gracious and understanding of my attempt to surprise my wife with a birthday trip we will never forget. So, thanks to you both.
The home was perfect! My reason for getting away was to relax and have as 'down time' as my wife wanted, and the home in Irish Beach was a great fit. We stayed up late watching movies, soaking in the hot tub and drinking wine from the Mendocino County wineries. We woke up late, made breakfast and planned out our day.
We toured the local Vinyards (Maple Creek is a must!), and samples of surprisingly great wines. We went up to Mendocino and walked along the rocky cliffs and took in the spectacular sea air as mist and spray from the crashing waves below. The local shop, and restaurant owners are inviting and as kind as you could imagine.
We traveled to Irish Beach over a short weekend in mid-January and the weather was a little chilly, the infamous fog was present much of the weekend, but the sun appeared on occasion to remind us of just exactly where we were.
My wife and I will be back without question, we may bring our two boys next time... then again maybe not...
