This home is absolutely gorgeous!! It has a magnificent view, large bedrooms, living space and kitchen filled with everything you could need. The bikes, boogy boards, and swim gear was a wonderful surprise. We had six people staying here and it was very roomy. We will stay there anytime we are in Hawaii and highly recommend it. It is close to stores, the beaches and you couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Sunset Beach!!

Best Lodging on Oahu

Review Submitted: August 17, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Unbelievable! The pictures do not do it justice. We like to stay as remote as possible when we vacation and this is as good as it gets on Oahu. Jay and Karen have bent over backwards to make this the ultimate vacation spot. The views are amazing, beaches and shopping close, and the kitchen is outstanding so you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for food. But if you need to eat out Ted's Bakery at the bottom of the hill is to die for. As for location, you can make it to Pearl Harbor in an hour....that's how small the island is.
For anyone who uses these reviews like my family does, there are no smoke and mirrors here. This is the best spot in Sunset Beach, northside, or all of Oahu to spend your vacation. You will not be disappointed. Guaranteed. Thanks again, Jay and Karen.

Wonderful vacation spot

We had a great time on our first trip to Hawaii. We enjoyed the sunshine and warmth...scarce in Michigan in January. The accomodations were great. We took in Pearl Harbor and learned a lot. The botonical sites were beautiful. The golf was surprisingly affordable. We even saw whales from our ocean-view kitchen while eating breakfast one morning. We enjoyed seeing and hearing the crashing waves. For two people in their 50's accompanied by parents in their late 70's, even though the airplane ride was long, this was an ideal vacation spot. We packed a lot of activity into one week. It was great.

What a stay!!

This place was AMAZING!!!! We absolutely LOVED this house--we will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family. Great location--up the hill behind Ted's Bakery, just across the street from Sunset Point, and within walking distance to Sunset Beach and V-land. Biking on the path down to Waimea for a swim (with a quick stop at Shark's Cove Grill for a snack) was a common theme during our stay!
Perfect location--not too far from Haleiwa, but not too close, either! We had friends staying at Turtle Bay Resort and they were super jealous of our place!!
I especially enjoyed the yard--I spent an entire morning looking at all the trees/flowers/plants/etc.!! Mountain views all around and the Pacific Ocean in front of us! We spent a LOT of time on the HUGE lanai--lots of chairs/loungers. There was a big grill (which we didn't use, but wished we had!) and the house had very comfortable furniture inside. No A/C, but the trades kept the house very cool (we visited in May)--so cool that we had to close our bedroom window at night! It was great.
The only thing that we DIDN'T find pleasant about the trip was the walk to Ted's--the walk itself was fine, but at the bottom of the hill there was a house with a BIG nasty dog that the owners let wander free. I found this out one morning while going for a run--fortunately, the owner was outside and managed to pull the dog away from me--it never bit me, but ran full speed at me and barked and grunted at me for a full 30 seconds before the owner yanked it away! Yikes!!! We ended up DRIVING to Ted's after that!!! This is the ONLY reason why I would not recommend this house to people with children.
(The dog also deterred us from biking past the house--fortunately, there is a road directly behind the house that you can access from the side yard--just go down the hill and it will hit the Kam hwy.)
Overall, we absolutely loved this place and can't wait to return!!!

Thank you Jay and Karen for opening up your home to us. We had an awesome time and the house was in a word...perfect! The view of the ocean was great and we even saw whales the night before we left.
It was peaceful and serene. No traffic noise or noisy neighbors, the perfect setting.
We will be back next year.

Quiet place on the North Shore, far from the madding crowd. Open up the windows for the cool breezes, surf sounds, and bird chorus in the early morning. None of the beach heat or craziness here! You will want to spend your time on the deck watching whales and surfers (bring those binocs!), or get up and walk down to Ted's bakery for goodies. The hosts have gone out of their way to make this your home away from home - if your home is paradise.

Great place! We had six guys in for five days of golf, and had everything we needed, including a lot of room. Kitchen/BBQ allowed us to save money on meals, as well. Highly recommend it!

Great house. Large and open. Perfect for 3 or more couples. Awesome view, but not right on the beach. Having internet hook-up was a real plus. Everything was clean and taken care of. Would highly recommend it.

This house is amazing! With more than 180 degree ocean views, it is perfect to watch teh sunsets over the ocean. We had everything we needed and more, great house with plenty of space for entertainment, we had eight people staying there and we never felt crowded. Close to everything we wanted to do. I looked around quite a bit before booking this house and must say I was not at all dissapointed!!
