We enjoyed our stay at this lovely condo. We found it easily thanks to the detailed directions and maps sent to us on booking by the owners, and the condo had been left open for us as we arrived in the evening. It was a most relaxing place to stay with plenty of room for the four of us and was kept spotlessly clean by our maid Sylvia (expert swan folder) who came in every day. We enjoyed the pool and beaches and the easy access by car from Akumal to historic sites such as Tulum and Coba. The lagoon proved a good place for beginner snorkellers and I think we tried and enjoyed the food at most of the recommended restaurants. I wish we had spent more time in Akumal and less in Mexico City!

Girls week in Akumal

We stayed in the condo the last week of Oct. Had an awesome time, close to everything that we needed. Plenty of resturants nearby, the road area is safe, and everything is within a mile walk.
The condo is clean, roomy, and everything you could want is there. The management is very nice and helpful, and any requests, they get back to you immediately.
Close to the beach, just a walk thru the breezeway, and lounge chairs are waiting for you. Snorkling in the area is spectacular.
There is plenty to see in the area, but you'd definitely need a car for any outside excursions. But if you're looking for somewhere to relax, drink, eat good food, this is the place to stay. Lots of friendly people staying in the area, which made evenings nice if your looking for conversation. Waking up in the morning, drinking coffee on the patio, listening to the birds, you can't help thinking 'LIFE IS GOOD".
Had a great time, would definitely go back again, and again.

Our party of 4 had an awesome time in the Akumel area. The Stones' condo fit our needs perfectly. The place was immaculately clean and beatiful. The condo grounds were lush and tropical; the pools were clean and refreshing. The condo staff were friendly and efficient. They'll even teach you a few Spanish words and phrases. Half Moon Bay was the perfect place to relax, read, and snorkel. One evening we watched the release of hundreds of baby sea turtles into Akumel Bay. What an unforgettable sight for all ages! A variety of restaurants, bars, and stores are within walking distance; we had many tasty meals. The fresh seafood was incredibly delicious! Peg and Mike, we will definitely return to your vacation rental on Ackumel Bay! Thanks for being so accomodating.

The vacation my wife and I just enjoyed for our 20th wedding anniversary at Peggy and Mike's condominium was very enjoyable and relaxing. The pools, grounds, and condo are kept very clean and in great shape. We enjoyed snorkeling in the nearby ocean, with schools of colorful fish, sea turtles, and coral. In fact, this is something we did every day of the week. This condo is situated in a very good location, with little traffic and many restaurants within walking distance (we didn't even rent a car, instead using a transportation service to and from the Cancun airport). This was an awesome vacation and also a great value.

The description in the add is very accurate, the owners are very nice persons to deal with, and you can see that they take a big effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
They even have a binder, where they have been collecting tips to make your stay more confortable.
Some tips I failed to write in it are:
During summer at least, the heat makes it very hard to really walk a lot to restaurants, etc, but in Akumal you can rent bikes for reasonable rates, which make for an excelent transport to move around akumal and even to it's pueblo, you will see that most the people who work in the condos actually use the bikes for transporation instead of buses or something else.
The few details that don't allow me to give it the top raiting in this review, are more related to the management of the condo than to the condo itself, and I hope that these things will be addressed in the near future.
These include the following:
If for whatever reason you are arriving late, there will no one to handle the keys of the condo or anything, management office is only open during business hours, we had to miss the first night for this reason ( the owner offered a refund for that night).
There have some pool rules that even while not really enforced, are not really what you expect on a vacation properly, like limited pool hours and a prohibition of the use of the pool by your guests ( so, If you are meeting with some one else, and decide to invite them for lunch, in theory, they can't use the pool???, even at hotels this is normally allowed).
If any of this is important to you, I would recommend you to ask the owners about it.
In general the staff was very nice and polite, however their operating times and rules are not in hotel like service level.
The nearby restaurants we tried were not so good, and the supermarket in town is pricey, however, if you go to the pueblo, there is some good regional dining (El Ultimo Maya) and more reasonable prices on food supplies.
This property is best if you intent on snorkeling or scuba diving, it is somehow far away from the night clubs and such, so it is more for a family or senior vacation.
I really recomend it, if you ask the owners, they will always respond with the truth, I'm convinced this is one of the properties with best value in the price range.
The property is very well maintened.
Owner's Response: We are glad this guest enjoyed his stay in spite of the mix-up on his first night. Management has set up a system for late arrivals so this will not happen again and the guest was fully refunded for that night. There is always someone in management at the complex, but after office hours you have to ring the office doorbell to alert the person on duty that you require assistance.

The pool rules were recently changed. Both pools are now open from 8AM to 10PM with 'adult-only' hours in the early morning from 8AM to 9AM and again in the evening from 8PM to 10PM. Due to previous problems, the pools are open only to guests staying at the complex. This is common in Akumal and allows other guests to enjoy the pools without overcrowding.

Again, we are glad his family enjoyed their vacation and hope to see them back next year!

We just returned from a wonderful vacation in Akumal. Mike and Peggy are wonderful hosts, as they have thought of everything for their guests: tourbook of the area, spanish dictionary, insulated tote bags, snorkel tote, games/cards, DVDs, and plenty of local information all contained in a neat, user-friendly binder. They also sent maps and "helpful hints" to us prior to our trip. Communication was always prompt and Mike and Peggy treat you like personal friends. The condo was perfect for our family of 3. The location of the unit with its own entrance is very private and within steps of both pools and the ocean. The staff is very helpful with a manager on-site to take care of all your needs and the cleaning staff is non-intrusive and efficient. We were very happy with our accommodations and rank this as a truly ideal place to stay.
