Lovely Vacation Condo!

We stayed at Casa Del Rey for three weeks, and had a wonderful, relaxing time.

The pictures are quite accurate. The view from the deck is amazing, we never got tired of watching the ocean and the beach. The deck is spacious, comfortable -- we ate all our meals, had margaritas/gaucamole, or just lounged there just about every day.

The beach is one of the best, about a mile long, clean and sandy, and most days fairly empty. The pool was clean and warm and perfect for wading or swimming laps or just sunbathing. Very quite, relaxing -- no loud music or noisy people.

We like to cook most of our meals, and the kitchen was great -- gas stove, plenty of pots and pans and utensils. Large refrigerator-freezer, with water dispenser. We took the peso bus into town most days -- a fun ride, about 10-15 minutes -- to shop, get provisions, fresh fish from the markets, or just explore the town.

There are plenty of great restaurants in PV -- the choices are endless. Some of our faves: Cafe Des Artiste, Hacienda San Angel, Vista Grill, La Bistro, Trio, El Nayarna (sp?), Teresa Bistro. Also check out Los Mercados for deli items, and espresso, pastries. And the new Vinos Americano for all your wine or liquor needs.

We had another couple with us for part of the time, so it was great to have two masters with en suite baths -- perfect for privacy. The beds were compfy. And there was plenty of extra bedding, bath towels, beach towels. Ceiling fans and air-conditioning were great (mostly just needed the fans).

The staff at the building are friendly and helpful, especially Dorris, and the maintenance guy and the security gaurds. We felt very welcomed and safe.

The owner touched in after our arrival to make sure everything was OK. Even had her son drop by some extra ping pong paddles (thank you!).

Would definitely stay here again!

Heaven on Earth

My first thought when arriving to the condo is that it was better than I had hoped it would be! The location is beautiful, the condo is clean and well furnished and the other tenants and staff were so friendly and helpful! We spent time in the ocean, on the beach or in the pool every day we were there. The pool was cleaned daily and was so warm! The beach was amazing with a gradual decline into the water. We spent a lot of time on the balcony listening to the waves and relaxing. The beds were very comfortable and we got wonderful rest. Our group was in our 30's, but we didn't want to be on a resort. We wanted peace and relaxation and that is exactly what we got! We also did some of the other activities available in Puerto Vallarta, such as the Outdoor Adventure by Vallarta Adventures. This was a fantastic way to spend a day and a great rush! We have plans to return to PV next year and would choose this location again! Arlene did a great job of informing us ahead of time about what we would need for our stay and was very prompt in answering my questions. She also called to check in with us on our first day, which was very nice of her.

My only hesitation in giving this review is the fear that too many people may discover this little slice of heaven and it will be too hard for me to schedule a return trip! :-)

Have to agree with other reviews. A great view and we slept so well. The staff were friendly and the pool was clean and a great temperature. We had some trouble with damp smell as it is the rainy season but the owner told us to leave the air conditioner going and it helped some what. The television didn't work so they tried to fix it but we had to stand in the bedroom to change channels for the living room. But the owner was trying to fix this problem. These are minor things. We were close to everything As mentioned in other reviews taxi or bus close by. We recommend Le Piazzetta restaurant. We loved it there. We even got Elvia to cook for us which was a treat. I would recommend this place.

Lovely Condo - Great Location

Rather than go through it all again, I will simply agree to all the previous mentions of the excellent staff, terrific amenities of Casa Del Rey itself and the building in general. The owners were so easy to deal with and helpful right from the initial inquiry.

I would like to say that the on-line description is accurate, but the condo is even nicer in real life! We found it to be a terrific location and so easy to get around by bus whether north to PV (maybe 15 minutes) or to the WalMart/Maritime Terminal or even further to Bucerias, or south to Mismaloya, or Boca (with connection by water taxi to Las Animas or Yelapa). The bus stop is right out front and the busses comes by often. We noticed that the night security man watched for the arrival of the bus and had the gate to the building open for us by the time we got to it, which we thought was very welcoming.

On our departure day we took the bus to La Playita Restaurant in the Lindo Mar Condominiums (on the left about 5 mins before PV) for breakfast. We had heard it was a great location for breakfast and would not have known where it was had we not passed it on the bus every day. I previously assumed it was right in town. We saved it for last rather than go right into town that day. Great spot on the ocean with yummy food. (Truth be told, the only thing we “cooked” in the condo was coffee and microwaved the odd take-home leftovers).

I could live here year round and be totally comfortable and perfectly happy!

Perfect retreat on the ocean

Many thanks to Arlene and George. The condo was the perfect place to enjoy all Peurto Vallarta has to offer. The staff at the condo were very helpful, A big thank-you to Doris at the front desk for all your directions and suggestions. A big thank-you to Rosa our maid, no cleaning detail was overlooked. Sleeping at night listening to the waves was music to our ears, as was seeing the whales on the horizon. The pool and surroundings were beautiful, steps to the very quiet beach with awesome views from there or out on the deck at sunset. You are close enough to downtown and all the action, but far enough away to feel that you are in paradise away from it all! We can,t wait to come back!! Thanks again Arlene. Paul Jenkins

Fabulous vacation spot right on the ocean.

This was truly an outstanding spot. Upon our arrival, you check in on the 5th floor, which is right off the parking lot. You then go down to the 2nd floor, to your condo. There, we met Al and Arlene, who were just leaving. They showed us around the condo, explaining a few things to us, and where they could be reached if needed.

The Condo is beautiful, and the description on the Cyberrentals site is very accurate. The beach is lovely once the tide goes down, and is lovely to walk on. The front bedroom, off the balcony, will clearly allow you to hear the waves crashing. We loved it, but if a light sleeper, could cause you a problem, but then just bring ear plugs. The Condo has some condiments supplied, and a lovely gas stove, and an electric barbecue. The TV's have numerous channels available. The fridge is quite large. The benches in the living room area are the typical Mexican built in style, but more than comfortable enough with the cushions supplied. The Condo was thoroughly cleaned twice a week. The pool, when we were there in early January, gets sun at around 1:30 PM or so, until it sets in the evening. The construction 2 buildings over didn't bother us at all, and was quite quiet actually.

The bus stops out front both south and northbound. It is about a 15 minute ride to the end of the route north into Puerto Vallarta, and also about a 15 minute ride south to Mislamoya. When coming from Downtown, to the Condo, at night at least, until you get used to where the Condo is, you should just tell the bus driver you want off at Condos Punta Negra, and he will stop there for you. The bus runs out to the Condo till 10:30 PM., and the price has "jumped" to 70 pesos.

We went into town every couple of days, eating at Archies Wok, Pipi's twice, and enjoying the $1.00 beer and snacks at the Cheeky Monkey. And family night on Sunday evening is busy but enjoyable. And Mislamoya is worth the trip, to the old town area, then across the street to the ocean.

Overall, the Condo was great, with really nothing to complain about. My sister/brother in law who joined us in Puerto Vallarta for the 1st time loved it, and the Condo. And as we've been in Puerto Vallarta 10 times or so, this might have been the best place we stayed at.

And though we headed out a bit, we enjoyed meals, or drinks on the balcony often, or at the dining room table as well. You really could stay at the Condo all the time if you so desired. The 2 weeks blew by.

Wonderful vacation - home away from home

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay. Arlene and Alan were there to greet us when we arrived - it was very nice to meet them! The condo is as described and shown on the website - perfect for two couples. We particularly enjoyed sitting out on the terrace watching and listening to the waves crash. It was very clean, the building well maintainted and the service from all staff, excellent.

The location was great - close enough to town to go in regularly but far enough away to feel that you're in your own piece of paradise. Punta Negra is a beautiful beach.

We travelled by bus and found it could be adventurous but always reliable. Mismaloya is a great day-trip.

Family night on Sundays - a favourite for experiencing the local flavour on the Malecon.

Favourite restaurants - Pipi's, Archie's Wok and El Tizoc for dinner and the Cheeky Monkey for it's great food, service, $1.00 Coronas/Margaritas...and the view is fabulous too!!

We look forward to our next stay at Casa Del Rey!!

As we unlocked the beautiful carved front door we truly felt like we were just coming home again and not just a 2 week rented condo! Everything was spotlessly clean and decorated with a colorful tropical theme. The owners have tried to anticipate every need for comfort, relaxation and fun such as games, books, movies, excellant tv's in 3 rooms, beach floats & gear(not allowed in pool) even a ping-pong set to use on the table down stairs. The master king size bed was so comfortable with soft white linens and large pillows. The kitchen is very well equiped, even for a picky cook like me and completed with an electric grill on the large balcony. The views and ocean sounds are just awesome and the Punta Negra beach perfect for walking or running! The large pool was heated as the evenings turned cooler and the patio area is beautiful and well maintained. The entire staff was so very helpful and courteous and there is an elevator in the building. The bus stops in front for those fun colorful trips to restaurants and grocery stores in town. A new resort with an excellant beautiful restaurant for dinner has opened just around the corner (3 minute bus ride) called Blanca Blue, don't try to walk, as there are many crazy speeding cars and not much room on the side of highway. We did not try it but saw it and heard good comments. There are so many super wonderful restaurants in PV and just a few of our favorite medium priced restaurants after many years of vacationing there are Archie's Wok, La Piazzetta, Tapas Barcelona and Lindo Mar's La Playita. There are many more high ended restaurants to experience also! Owners Arlene & Allen are very prompt to respond to any problem or question you might have either by phone or email and very reliable with money transactions. This was an excellant experience and we look forward to our next visit for an even longer stay! Faye & Carlos

October vacation stay

We recently stayed at this condo October 20st through the 25th. The pictures on the internet are nearly identical to the real thing. The condo was clean and very well furnished. The downside was that the pool was very, very cold. The bedroom near the ocean was extremely loud until you got used to but I would suggest if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs for night time. Doris at the front desk was very helpful with eateries however she expressed that it is difficult to stay current on all restaurants. She told us one eatery, Republic Fajita, was closed yet when we went into town the eatery was not closed and we ended up eating there the next night. I am glad we decided to look ourselves. The phone connections a little problematic but we coped. Bring your own CD's as she has a great TV in which to listen to music or view your favorite tv cd on those days that the weather might not be cooperating. I would recommend this condo if you want to relax and be very close to the beach.

A Piece of Paradise

5 of 5
Submitted: October 25, 2009 Stayed: September 2009
The first thing we thought when we arrived at this condo was "Wow..this is Paradise". The unit is very nicely decorated with everything we needed, the bedrooms are far enough apart giving everyone privacy, and the balcony was well furnished along with a grill which we made good use of. I am a light sleeper and found the sound of the waves a bit loud at night, but used ear plugs which helped. The location and beach is great! We are ocean people and found the beach to be just what we were looking for...peaceful with no vendors and the water was amazing, you can even snorkel near the rocks to the south of the unit. There was hardly anyone at the building so we had the pool and beach pretty much to ourselves...another good reason to go off season. Yes there is a condo being built a couple of lots over, but we didn't find it a problem and they would stop working for a couple of hours mid day. We went around on the local bus and found it an experience as well as convenient and even took it south of the condo to visit a few of the local villages and to get the water taxi to Yelapa (worth the trip). The local people are very friendly and assisted us whenever needed, even if there was a language barrier they still tried to help or would find someone who spoke English, couldn't ask for more than that. The first week we did most of our grocery shopping at Rizzo's in Old Town as it was the closest to the condo, but did venture on 2 buses to Walmart for groceries the 2nd week....which takes about 45 min each way. Had most of our meals on the balcony with the beautiful views and fabulous sunsets. Why go to restaurants when you have the best seat on the balcony overlooking the ocean!! The weather was amazing with only 2 evenings when it slightly rained for a couple of hours and a few hours on our last afternoon. Couldn't have asked for better weather especially during rainy season...hot and humid but then again that's why you go south for some hot weather where you can cool off in the pool and ocean. Doris, Maria and the security guards were very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them. Arlene called us each week to ensure everything was fine. Finally, I must say that we all had a wonderful 2 week vacation while staying at this beautiful condo...only wish we could have stayed longer...hated to leave and go home back to work and reality! We are still talking about our memorable time in Puerto Vallarta and hope to return in the future
