Large house for groups

Review Submitted: September 1, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
The property was clean. We had a large girl scout troop. The washer/dryer were not full sized. We mistakenly thought we could do several loads of laundry but they took 2x as long to dry. Rooms were large and accomodating for a large group. Towels were scarce as well as hand towels or bath mats. While some things were not great, we still spent alot less on housing than staying in hotel rooms. Location near bus stop (walking .30 mile). We did have a run in with a pit bull but other than that quiet.

Not for large groups

S Bond Phoenix, AZ
Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My family and stayed here in May 2009, we had 15 people and found that though it adverstied for a large group it was not really big enough for a lot of people. The kitchen does not have adequate pots and pans and other supplies for a large group so don't plan a lot of meals at the home. The other supplies such as toliet paper and dishwasher soap and paper towel was not enough. The dryer did not work well and took hours to dry towels which we had to wash several times since we were a large group. I did not receive my deposit back and never heard a word from the owner or his represenitive. I am sure they have there excuses. I would not recommend this property for more than a family of 6. And do not expect your deposit back, we even emptied all the garbage cans in the whole house and cleaned before we left.

Not too impressed

This rowhouse has been remodeled and has some rooms that are very pretty, but there are several problems areas that had shoddy work. For example, the tile in the kitchen area near the stairs to the basement apartment was cracked and I felt it was a trip hazard. The floor in the room above the sunroom is quite slanted (people sleeping there will be on an incline). The floor from the kitchen/dining area to the sunroom is also slanted and could be a trip hazard. The stairs are narrow and steep, difficult for older people in our party. For the most part, the neighborhood was lower/middle class blue collar type. The people we saw were friendly, except for one woman down the street who screamed at people to stay off her property as they passed by (even though we were on the sidewalk). The property attached to this house appears to be occupied by college students, although they were not noisy during our stay. Parking is difficult, as the back driveway is narrow and difficult to access with anything larger than a compact. However, a car is almost a necessity, as the property is not really convenient to public transportation. We also had difficulty getting our full deposit back, as we were accused of keeping a pet onsite without the owners knowledge. In actuality, we had arranged for this ahead of time and paid a nonrefundable pet deposit (and all of this was documented in our rental agreement). Once I disputed this, the remaining amount of the deposit was refunded, but it took some time and it was frustrating. I probably would not stay at this property again.

A Very Cozy Place

Review Submitted: March 31, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We had several pleasant surprises upon arrival--we were on a quiet, dead end street; we were very close to the Basilica; the place was much larger and cozier than shown in the pictures; we had a pub table for eight with two extra chairs at the counter; we had Internet access with a printer and a Schwinn exercise bike in the lower suite; and the little ones had a bunk bed on the third level. In short, the place appealed to everyone. One of my sons said it felt like he had been here before. The place reminded him of our previous house in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood back in Cleveland. Everything was neat and set for us. This rowhouse suited us perfectly. Safeway and McDonald's are just down the road. Turning left at the end of the street, we could see the Capitol and easily followed the road directly to town. Super place to stay!

Not the optimal experience

DC Visitor1 Indiana
Review Submitted: March 12, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
Upon arrival, we found this property fit its general description and amenities as listed in the online profile. However, after leaving the property in its "agreed to" condition, just like you would leave a hotel room requiring normal housekeeping, the security deposit was only partially refunded. Upon inquiring about the deposit refund, owner mentioned a questionable "smells like someone smoked." No one in my party smokes.

Unfortunate situation with the Saturday night we stayed there--a house party in the adjoining unit went until 3am.

Other than these incidents, property was as expected.

Disappointed

The house was much further out of Washington than expected although close to a bus route after we got orientated.House itself is good although area is not and not close to any shops .Disappointed by service of company who only e mailed us final details after we had left for our holiday. They also kept part of final deposit for leaving some food in fridge even though we had left place spotless.

Review Submitted: May 27, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We rented the property for a family gathering. The location is not convenient for public transportation. However, we were driving and the onsite parking was great. Minor issues were lack of toilet paper and tea spoons. The home was clean, very nicely furnished and comfortable for all of us. The owner kept in touch and offered help when needed. I would recommend the house to others.

We LOVE this place!

Review Submitted: April 22, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
This "home away from home" in D.C. was not only ultra-convenient from a location standpoint, nicely furnished, and chocked full of amenities.... the customer service was out-of-this world. We'd rent this place in a heartbeat if we ever returned to D.C. We had 17 people living here and everyone felt like they had enough room and personal space. Worked out great for us!

The house was beautiful, extremely clean and very warm. Very accomodating for 6 adults and accurate in presentation, layout, amenties, etc. Metro is about a one mile walk across the beautiful Catholic University campus. We had a great two week stay and will definitely look to stay here again in the future!
