A Perfect Week at Surf City

Pleased Family Ohio and Georgia
Review Submitted: July 24, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My extended family and I stayed for a week at Seas the Day in July, 2009. We stay fairly frequently in ocean front beach rentals on the Atlantic and on the Gulf, and have seen many really nice houses.

Seas the Day was perfect. Everything worked!! (and this is pretty unusual) - all the kitchen appliances, the washer/dryer, the air conditioner, the televisions, the showers, etc. Everything in the house was well maintained.

The back deck was perfect for family times. The sleeping arrangement was great for us - four bedrooms on the first level with two full baths (one for each set of two rooms). The two "master" bedrooms on that level exit to the lower deck with a nice exterior shower/changing room, and they share a restroom located between the two bedrooms - one of those bedrooms has a king bed and the other has a queen bed. The other two bedrooms have bunk bets - two sets of two beds in one room and one set of two beds in the other (and that room also has access to the laundry area).

The upper floor has one queen bedroom and a full bath along with a great kitchen, spacious dining room, and a comfortable living room. There is door to the upper deck which has several chairs/benches. Four of the chairs sit on a slightly elevated portion of the deck to give fabulous views of the ocean, which is literally a stones through away. There are separate heating/cooling controls for each floor.

The house is located on a comparatively quiet street, not the main road that goes down the middle of the island. There are many walkers on the road - it's a great place place to take a walk (in addition to the beach).

The location is perfect. The house is about a mile from the center of Surf City, so it's close enough to get to all the restaurants, grocery, etc. quickly, and yet far enough away to be removed from the traffic and noise. The parking areas for the cars are protected behind the house so the sea spray never "gooed" up our car windows all week.

The owner has his own review of the local restaurants in a drawer on the kitchen island and we found his recommendations spot on.

This house was booked solid from April thru October that last I looked, while many of the surrounding houses were vacant - there is a reason! This house is a cut above the others.

So, in summary, the house was perfect for our needs (we had 11 people and one Sheltie). You will not be disappointed here.

Our family stayed at Seas The Day in March 2009. We met our daughter with 4 of her girlfriends who were on spring break from college. We also took our 5th grader and her friend.
The house is large enough to accomodate these type of various age interests. The beds were all comfortable and we loved the large kitchen/family room. The house is beautifully decorated and exceptionally orderly which gives to thinking and reflecting as well.
We have visited Topsial on many occasions and love the quietness of this area.
Thank you. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Owner's Response: Tricia - we were glad to have you as guests. Spring break is a great time to come but you'll have to try a summer - or indian summer visit some time.

My sister and I are both recently retired school teachers. For over 25 years we have talked about renting a beach house on the North Carolina coast, big enough to house all of our families. I went on line and for several months looked for our dream beach house. I found a beach house in Surf City on Topsail Island, North Carolina. The name of the house was SEAS THE DAY. This house was everything we had dreamed about. It was RIGHT ON THE WATER, in a beautiful location with plenty of privacy. The house had everything, it even had a blender in the kitchen. There was plenty of room for everyone. The house was beautifully decorated, by someone who knew what they were doing. Setting on our porch, we could watch the sun rise each morning. In the evening we could drive to the end of the island and watch the sun sink into the ocean. There are not too many places in the world where you can experience such an event. I bought 5 kites and one day we all spent the day flying them. There are several outstanding restaurants nearby, we especially liked a restaurant called Sear's Landing. Thy had a crab sandwich that was out of this world. We enjoyed the secluded walks on the beach and the discovery of hundreds of sea shells. We saw dolphins swimming by several times. The only regret we had, was that we couldn't stay for another week. Jerry from Murrayville, Georgia, we plan to go back.
Owner's Response: We are glad you had a great time. The beach and island is so peaceful. It really refreshes your soul. We hope you will come and visit again.

What a lovely house! We had a great week last week - loved the decor and the open layout. The location is perfect. We liked it so much we've already booked it for the same week next year!
Owner's Response: Thanks Jane. And we'd be glad to have you back next year. In fact, it was a good idea to book early because we just had our busiest year ever and people are already inquiring about next summer.

Thank you for sharing your beach house with our family. The house was great and the location on the beach was perfect. We loved the high deck chairs and spent a lot of time there reading and watching the waves. We especially enjoyed seeing the sea turtles hatch and walking the beach to collect shells. Also, it was fun eating at the local restaurants. For me, it was just the place I needed to recover from surgery. When our week was over, we all agreed that we would love to return to your house for more fun and relaxation.
Owner's Response: Topsail is very healing, and I certainly hope and pray for your full recovery. Thanks for being our guest.

Fantastic beach house! We had great fun boogie boarding all week long. Found scores of sharks teeth on our beach walks.
Outdoor shower was great for getting all the sand off after a day at the beach.

We spent Christmas 2007 at your beautiful and comfortable beach house. It was a wonderful family Christmas for us and we felt very much at home. There were Christmas cookies and grand children all week long and loved every minute. Walks on the beach, sunsets and family. What could be better? Thanks for letting us spend our Christmas at your home. Hopefully we will be back soon.
Lucy and Brian Litz
Owner's Response: Thanks Lucy. The beach is a great place to spend Christmas (or Thanksgiving) with family and loved ones. Please visit us again.
