A Relaxing Retreat...with a view!

Jeannem San Antonio, TX
Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This condo was a fabulous retreat for me and my friends. We were so taken by the ambience of the condo and the location that we opted to cook-in rather than eat out on Saturday night. The furnishings, your artwork, pottery, weavings...all of it was enchanting. My friends looked at the condo availability calendar on homeaway.com to try to pick dates for return visits. We are so glad we found your place...it's our new favorite for the area!

Sept-09 Santa Fe vacation with young children

RWS Houston Houston, Texas
Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Nicely furnished with comfortable beds. Great place to relax after long days of outdoor activities with the kids. Good access to Santa Fe and surrounding mountains. Enjoyed using the charcoal grill on the front porch. The boys enjoyed seeing the horned toad in the front yard. Convenient to have washer/dryer in the unit.

Excellent Mexican restaurant at the old train station near downtown Santa Fe. Tent Rocks National Monument south of Santa Fe great day trip.

My girlfriends (4) women just experienced one of the nicest, most relaxing weekend we have in a very, very long time.
This condo is just beautiful and slept 4 perfectly. We relaxed and had our drinks on the lovely deck and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
I took us about 10 minutes or less to get to downtown, and as much as we loved the downtown, it's just so nice to get back "home" and relax away from the crowds. It's only about 2 minutes from the flee market and the Opera, too.
We'd recommend it to anyone, and Shelley couldn't have been any nicer to deal with.

Our family had such a wonderful time in your condo. It was perfect for two couples. Each of us had our own sleeping and bath area. We ate almost every meal at the condo, which we enjoyed. Everything was exactly as described. The beds are very comfortable. The only little snag we had was the hot water heater was turned off at the breaker box. We discovered it early the first evening and it heated water for night bathers very fast. Your yard man even helped us carry things to the car the morning we departed. Thanks again, Shelly. We would like to return.

Christmas and New Years 2008/2009

Johntani in Michigan Shelby Township, Michigan
Review Submitted: January 11, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
My wife & I celebrated our 10th Anniversary here and had a great time. It was good for just the two of us to get away and celebrate the holidays, alone. Shelley was very easy to deal with and very personable with any questions we made of had. If I go back to Santa Fe, and I hope I do, I already know that this place is number 1 on where I would stay again. The place is very relaxing and quiet being surrounded by mountains, but only 10-15 minute drive to downtown Santa Fe. There is a big binder there on the coffee table on places to see and restaurants to eat at. Very useful. There is also a AAA tour book there and in the back under Santa Fe restaurants, someone had circle about a half dozen places to eat. They were all winners. Shelley does state that there is wireless internet service there. Our laptop connected either really slow or not at all, but for us it was not essential. If I really had to get on the internet, I would have gone to Starbuck's. Santa Fe is a must see at least once in your lifetime, anytime of the year. And Shelley's place is the place to stay if you go and want to get away.
Owner's Response: John
Thank you for your very nice review. I am always glad to hear that my guests enjoyed their stay in my condo and in the Santa Fe area. It is a very special place!

I am sorry about the internet connection. I will address the problem with the cable company. By the way, as alternative you can use the wireless connection at the pool, so you don't need to go into town to Starbucks!
Thanks again.

1stTrip to Santa Fe, + Alberquerque, ballon fest

Escobeab california
Review Submitted: October 14, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
My neighbors and I wanted to experience the Alberquerque Ballon Fest, so we decided to book this condo in Santa Fe. The ballon fest was cancelled due to the winds, thus we drove in late at night to find the condo. Shelly had advised us to bring a flashlight, which we did as the place was a bit dark to find the lockbox for the key. Once we did, boy were we surprised.

The condo is very big, plenty of room for individual space, and the views are wonderful. The place was clean, organized with items in the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, similar to timeshares; dishes, linen, cleaning supplies, etc. That night we went to the market and stocked up on some items, and her fridge and pantry had the room for our items. The condo is only about 10 minutes from Santa Fe, which was okay with us, as we would hop on the freeway, and before we knew it, we were already on Guadalupe street.

The condo is in the outskirts in a rural looking area, and the views are the hills, bushes, and other condo resorts. If you want peace and quiet, and privacy, something close to town, but not in-town, this is the place.

The condo itself has the comforts of home, kitchen, front room, dining room, washroom, and bedrooms. She has books, dvds, and a visitor book with menus, ideas where to go, maps, etc.

Distance to Balloon Fest is 45 min, Alberquerquee Airport 1 hour. Santa Fe 10 min, Chimayo about 25 min, and Taos about 1 hour and 10 minutes.

For first time explorers in Santa Fe, this condo is situated near Tesque/Opera exit and is easy to find during the day. But if arriving at night, ensure you have someone looking for highway markers or use GPS as there is no streetlights in the area.

Overall... Good Experience.! Shelly is very responsive. I needed to know details, and she always responded. Thanks again Shelly!

Advise: Take a flashlight in case of late night returns to condo, outside timer lights may not be on, and if it rains, snows the steps may be wet. Also map out the freeway, it loops like a horseshoe, and condo is in the middle. Leaving the condo on 592, if you make a right or left on 73, you will need to go south on the 284/85 to get to Santa Fe.

Several wide steps to get to front door, advise walk slow, and dont forget to take an umbrella incase of rain.
Owner's Response: Thank you Alicia for the nice review! I will work on getting the timer for the outside lights fixed. Sorry, I can't do anything about weather conditions!

Review Submitted: October 3, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2007
We stayed here to avoid the noise and traffic of Santa Fe. It was well worth it. The condo was secluded but close to everything. It was very relaxing to sit on the
patio with our morning coffee and watch the sun rise over the mountains. The sunsets were awesome also.
It was a welcome place to return home to after touring Santa Fe and Taos.
We will stay here again.
Thamks, Shelley!

Dare to compare

I did, and was richly rewarded. The home was sparkling clean, well equiped, and utterly charming. The brick flooring, wood ceilings, and kiva fireplaces are just the highlights. The expansive patio and unobstructed view of the desert in a very private setting was perfect. Only one exit North of town and minutes from the freeway, you are still just under fifteen minutes from old town or Trader Joe's. Either in town or short distances away, there is everything to do in the area. But it was more fun some days to simply lounge about and build a fire at night. It is a destination all by itself. The owner was especially pleasing to deal with, accessible, and helpful in every way. I thought the value was outstanding as well. Five honest stars from me.
