Absolutely Fantastic

San Diego Golfer San Diego, CA
Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We were here for a golf trip with a large group of guys and we had the advantage of staying at Hacienda Tortolita-the environment is everything one would come to Tucson/Oro Valley for- serene and peaceful would be the best discription I could come up with- the vista of the desert mountains and the Catalinas is unmatched and the view of the city lights is great- Great place to sit on a patio or hot tub and contemplate life! And I never missed watching the sunrises either. Lots of wildlife to listen to and enjoy. Very, very comfortable- sad to leave after four days, but anxious for my return next year! And the owner is the best! Great instructions and concern for our enjoyment- Highly recommend this rental property for an unparalled experience!

Perfect First Vacation Home!

SEGLITH Lake in the Hills, IL USA
Review Submitted: July 26, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We can't say enough good things about this home, the location, and the owner. We were in the Tucson area to adopt a newborn baby and wanted to have a nice home to bring the new baby to after she was born. The baby actually was born more than 3 weeks early which caused us to scramble at the last minute and the owner was extremely helpful in accommodating our last minute change so that we had a beautiful place to stay while we were visiting the hospital and preparing to bring the baby home.

We loved the views from the home, all of the southwest landscape right outside the door, the wildlife, and the location is actually pretty convenient since there are many restaurants and stores nearby. The Oro Valley is a great area to stay in and is also convenient if you're flying in/out of Phoenix.

We had 2 other children staying with us and a mother-in-law and there was lots of space for everyone. We actually liked that there was not a pool since we had children with us. There is access to a country club facility with pool, workout room, etc. I had hoped to try it but just did not have enough time. The facility looks great from viewing their website.

We hope to return someday for a true vacation and strongly endorse this property.

Ohio critters in the Sonoran

OH Flatlander Findlay,OH
Review Submitted: March 30, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
The six of us hail from the corn flatlands of Northwest Ohio. What a contrast to the desert. This was our second year at the Hacienda Tortolita staying one week each year. Our group of critters range in age from 59 to 89 and have found a variety of activities to keep us busy or not so busy. The Hacienda is spacious with plenty of room for six.Critter time together cooking meals in the spacious kitchen and joining together eating around the large dining table was a highlight. We even took time two nights to sit and play cards. Reading in the sun on the ramada in the warmth of an 85 degree day seems to be the favorite of all the critters. Hiking the switchback trails above and the dry wash behind the Hacienda is the activity of choice for the younger pups. Desert wildlife watch is always on our agenda and this year we were not disappointed. Our first eve we watched with smiles as a family of quail traversed the top of the security wall single file- mom,dad and all the little ones. A family of gila woodpeckers nested in a cactus
out back for the second year in a row. Their song and pecking on the chimney awoke us every morn. Our travels in and out the dirt road surprised us this year with a mountain lion. He/She just pranced across the road one morning about 35 yards in front of us. We were really surprised! We Ohio critters are jewelry hounds at heart. We returned this year to the downtown Tucson Presidio and the Old Town Artisans (take plenty of quarters for the parking meters). An hour of shopping then lunch in the courtyard Cochino Restaurant. We find the shopping not overwhelming and the food delightful. The Ohio critters new adventure this year was visiting Tubac. It is about an hour south on Interstate 19. Tubac is an artist colony and for older folks somewhat overwhelming. We had to choose a short strip of shops and concentrate there. But two hours of delightful slow-paced shopping and we were ready for lunch. We hit the jackpot on lunch at Shelby's Bistro. A fun place with delicious food including unique variants on salad, wraps and pasta. After our arrival home we discovered this reastaurant featured in Arizona Highways as one of Arizona's Best 25. Again this year our hostess Pam was a joy to work with and she has a local gentleman as her johnny-on-the-spot. We highly recommend this retreat for those in need of re-creation and critter time together in an adventurous environment.

PLENTY TO DO

Anza Girl Palm Desert Area
Review Submitted: October 26, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Hacienda Tortolita. There are lots of places to visit in the Tucson area, Tombstone, Old Tucson Studios and downtown Tucson. The days we stayed home were very comfortable, on the patio, barbecuing or hiking up the hills. Our dogs also enjoyed being with us instead of boarding at a kennel. Plenty of shopping and restaurants were close by.
Owner's Response: To potential renters- we made a one time exception to this vacation renter, but going forward we do not accept pets.

Gorgeous Mountain Escape

Ladies Retreat Calgary, AB, Canada
Review Submitted: August 26, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Hacienda Tortolita was everything promised and more. The views of the city at night were spectacular and the surrounding mountain landscape was virtually untouched and perfect for hiking around. The house was simply and tastefully decorated and provided everything you could need or want. The owner was very gracious and accommodating. I would recommend the Hacienda Tortolita to anyone who enjoys the peace and quite of the country life with amenities close at hand. Hope to be back!

Great place for a guy's getaway!!

Golf fanatic Colorado
Review Submitted: May 6, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
My golf buddies and I found this to be a great place to relax and unwind. While it appears to be out in the middle of nowhere, it took us less than 15 minutes to get over to Vistoso and The Gallery....both great tracks. The hottub soothed the muscles and the unbelievable views, combined with cold beer, soothed the thirst and the soul. Internet access, dish TV, comfy rooms....what more could you ask for? Even better than expected!

Sunrises, Sunsets and Hiking Galore!

Ashton Galena, Ohio, USA
Review Submitted: February 6, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
Our stay at Hacienda Tortolita was wonderful! The sunrise, sunset and Tucson city light views exceeded expectations. Of all the hiking we did in the Tucson area, we enjoyed the unspoiled beauty of the trails in the Tortolita Mountain Park out the back door of the house the most. We felt at home from the day we arrived until we departed.

Great family vacation

Review Submitted: January 20, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2007
Hacienda Tortolita was the perfect place for our family to stay for our vacation to Tucson. Having never been to the area we could not have had a better vantage point than this house. Walk out the door and up the mountain!! And this home had everything we needed. We were totally comfortable. I think we spent more time sitting outside enjoying the views and the sun than inside!!!

Loved this place

TazErin Rancho Murieta, CA
Review Submitted: July 22, 2007 Date of Stay: April 2007
This house met all our wants and needs. My husband and our friend were only 15 minutes from the golf courses they wanted and we were that close to grocery stores. The views were so relaxing and the house was set up so the kids were off in their area while the adults were relaxing in another area. We liked the options of the beds and the decor was very tasteful and Southwest oriented. We would come here again and I plan to have our next annual girl's getaway here instead of Scottsdale! We really loved not having to clean the place when we left! Loved this place!
