If you are planning a trip to Maui, this home is a wonderful place to stay. All the reviews posted on-line are absolutely true. The service was exceptionally personable and friendly. The house was super clean and we would recommend it to anyone. The shed full of coolers, beach chairs, etc was awesome. A special thanks to Linda and Harry for the small gifts that they gave our three teenage daughters. They were perfect. The craft book on palm tree leaf weaving was also a big hit with our kids as they spent hours weaving baskets in the front yard.

We were 8 people in this home with parents and teenage kids. We had ample room and used the home as our own. The location made getting around very easy and the recommendations made by the owners was appreciated and useful.

There is also a house in the back of the property that we were able to look at. It is a 2 bedroom home which is just as nice as the larger home and would be great if we visited as a smaller group. When we go back, we will definitely be calling Harry and Linda.

Harry and Linda’s house by the sea.

WOW! There are no other words to explain this house and our Maui vacation. From the first email to each phone call with Harry or Linda, the experience was great. Communication with Harry or Linda from the start was fast, and very easy. When we landed in Maui we phoned Harry and he personally met us at the house to show us around and give us a few tips. In the house we found a welcome basket full of fresh Maui fruit and a bunch of local candy. Harry and Linda’s special mango bread was a real treat.
Harry was around working on another house, so we got to visit with him and meet Linda. Harry is easy to get along with and they are both great people. They gave us lots of tips and advice and it was nice to get a local’s opinion instead of reading about something online.

The house was stocked with way more than we could have ever expected. The kitchen has every type of cooking tool, spices, oil, sugar, saran wrap, etc. They even stocked the fridge with some water and juice. In the back is a BBQ. Amazing.! Our group consisted of 6 adults and 1 child and there was plenty of room for all of us. The 3 bathrooms were very convenient with nice large showers. The bathrooms were even fully stocked.

Forgot something at home? Don’t worry, Harry and Linda probably have you covered. The living room has lots of DVD’s and games to keep you entertained. They have a shed in the back with many beach toys, chairs, mats, and some snorkeling items. They have beach bags, towels, and even extra sunscreen. The front yard was amazing – perfect for some of the lawn games they also keep in the shed! It is huge and the ocean view is amazing. We even got to see whales from the house. Sitting outside to eat lunch was so great. They truly make their house very special. We felt very at home in their house right from the first day. The style, decorations and cleanliness were 5 stars. We truly recommend this house to anyone. We will definitely be staying here again as soon as we are able to go back. On a side note, they also have a cottage for rent behind this oceanfront house, and Harry gave us a tour. It is to the exact same standards. Keep up the great work Harry and Linda! It truly was a vacation “home away from home” for us!
Owner's Response: Thank you Brad and family for your complimentary comments. We endeavor to please and am glad we succeeded in making our property your home away from home. Both Linda and I enjoyed visiting with you and your family and also learning about the great frozen north. We will be looking forward to your return.

Mahalo again,
Harry and Linda.

Great Experience

We just spent 7 wonderful nights at this home and the experience was great. Very clean, fully stocked to the point of shampoo, soap supplies and everything you could want for a beach house. The owners were available to answer all questions and to assist if need be.

The location is perfect for the trip to the airport and into the heart of Kihei.

I can't say enough about our experience.

A great base for island exploring.

We've read the first two reviews and they are quite accurate so we don't have much to add about the accommodations except to say they are "primo", + free unlimited beachcombing. We had champagne on the beach, watched the sunsets and came to think of the place as our own, and for a few glorious days it was.

This home is centrally located and convenient to everything on the island, except Hana of course, nothing is close to Hana, but WE SURVIVED that adventure, what a road! Our side trips to Lahaina and Kaanapali, even up to the crater, the Iao Rainforest and down to Wailea beach were all very easy from here. Be sure to follow Linda's tips about the Pacific Whale Foundation, we took their whale watching excursion, saw many Humpbacks and lots of dolphin. We also enjoyed their early morning snorkel voyage to Molokini, featuring many colorful tropical fish on reef and one mean old Moray Eel. We really enjoyed the Old Lahaina Luau, island history told by talented (and scantily clad) dancers and musicians, the food and drink was wonderful too.

The other nights we used the grill and kitchen and enjoyed dinner and companionship around the table with a view, seats up to 8, we $aved a bundle. (Question: What to Humpback Whales eat when they visit Maui? Answer: Nothing, it's too expensive.)

We're HomeAway veterans of Orlando, Vegas and Branson. Mo., but this Maui home is by far the best equipped of those we have stayed in, especially the kitchen, these hosts have thought of everything. Be sure to bring you favorite CDs, there are plenty of players, but go to sleep with the sounds of the surf. We hope we are able to return to Hale Ma Ke Kai soon.

Going to Maui? Stay here.

Home Away from Home!!

From Nov. 9th to 16th 2008 our family rented Hale Ma Ke Kai. During this time we hosted family & friends who were in Maui to attend our daughter and son-in-law's wedding. This was truly a Home Away from Home. We cannot think of more thing that could have been provided. Linda & Harry were so accommodating & such gracious hosts. They welcomed us as family. We truly want to thank them for their hospitality that went above & beyond our expectations. From their very first contact with us they tried to please when many other properties did not. We recommend this as a beautiful property to call home during your visit to Maui.
Owner's Response: Thank you Loren & Mil for taking a chance and staying with us! I hope you enjoyed the home grown Hawaiian oranges from the tree in the back yard!

Paradise Found!

Review Submitted: December 5, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
Our family has been going to Maui for the past ten years. We have always stayed in 2 - 3 condominiums (as we were afraid of spending too much time together in small spaces). After staying at Hale Ma Ke Kai, we will never stay any place else.

The property is exceptional. Wide open spaces inside and outside. There were 8 of us, and always plenty of room. The house is beautifully decorated and the amenities are endless.

Awesome kitchen, large bedrooms and bathrooms to die for. Every bedroom had a flat screen TV, with cable, VCR and DVD. Every room had it's own quiet AC unit. The living room had a large flat screen TV with all the bells a whistles. The dining room had a extra large table.

The most amazing views of the ocean can be seen from the kitchen, dining room, living room and one of the master bedrooms. The ocean breeze moving though the palms is the back ground music of your stay. You can hear the ocean from the breaking waves. We enjoyed sleeping with the windows open. AWESOME!

There was the most amazing gift basket of local goodies, souvenirs, fresh pineapple, coconut, papaya and oranges. The mango bread was will make smile and wish for more.

The shed in the back has beach chairs, umbrellas, snorkel gear, boogie boards, mats, coolers and yard games.

I enjoyed being 50 yards from the ocean. We met the neighbors who are so very nice and friendly. Fell in love with Gumby, the local Rottweiller who makes dog angles in the sand.

Thank you for allowing us to stay. It was one of our best family vacations ever
Owner's Response: Thank you Robin and family for staying with us at Hale Ma Ke Kai! We are glad that you found everything you needed or wanted and to your liking. We enjoyed meeting and talking to all of you and we hope you will come back again! The mango bread will be waiting for you!

Harry and Linda
