hearts of stone

Breeze Albuquerque, NM
Review Submitted: November 27, 2007 Date of Stay: November 2007
My boyfriend planned our weekend get away as a surprise for my birthday last weekend, and I could not have been happier! The guest house had everything we needed, and was the perfect place for a relaxing and private weekend. We used the hot tub twice before I noticed my favorite thing about the house: The hearts of stone! Behind the hot tub is a collection of heart shaped stones---a perfect example of how many special touches Neal and Ruth have put into their property. I was so sad when the weekend was over and we had to leave. Best weekend ever. Thank you so much for sharing your special place with us!

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the trouble to let us know you had a memorable visit. It is nice to be appreciated. Best, Neal & Ruth

We LOVED our stay at the Walking Rain Guest House! The serene setting of the house along with attention to every need within the house by Neal and Ruth made the stay even more comfortable. We used the hot tub every single evening during our 6-night stay. The guest house which is located between the Ski Valley and Taos made it perfect for our little family to go skiing as well as enjoy the museums and art galleries in Taos and the surrounding areas. I am so glad we stayed at The Walking Rain Guest House rather than the condos of Ski Valley!

A wonderful summer getaway

My husband and I stayed here for a week and LOVED it! It was everything the website said it was and more. Immaculate, well-maintained, gorgeous setting. Neal, the owner, is very helpful, pleasant, low key but available. The surrounding area is nice for scenic drives, hiking, historic Indian sites and wineries. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to de-stress..

We had a wonderful time at the Walking Rain Guesthouse. We brought our year old sheltie and he loved being able to walk out the front door and into the snow, and also walks with Zoner and Cupid. We visited in January 2008 and Neal was so helpful in suggesting places to visit and even going with us on a hike. Great place to escape and we would definately visit again.

My husband and I stayed at the guesthouse for a week this past April. We had a really wonderful time. The property is secluded, very well-maintained and comfortable. We spent our days hiking and exploring the area, and almost every evening in the hot tub. The owners are friendly and helpful. Neal even invited us to accompany him and his two dogs for an evening walk / hike around the area (he's a knowledgeable guide!) We definitely hope to return.

We had a fantastic 10 day stay at the Walking Rain Guesthouse The Guesthouse is located in a quiet locale above Arroyo Seco NM, up a private road & nestled into a mountain amongst pinyon pines and other trees. The location is perfect for a peaceful getaway and yet close enough to Arroyo Seco (a quaint 'old time' village) with a couple of restaurants, a grocery store and shopping. and the larger City of Taos. The Guesthouse has all the basic cookware, plus many misc food items presumably left by other guest....very handy if you forgot to bring something. Neal (and Ruth) were very helpful to recommend places to visit and responsive to our needs. The hot tub was an extra bonus! This guesthouse is a 'real gem' and is highly recommended by both of us.

We enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable and private guest house. It's wonderfully located, secluded with a beautiful view of Taos, and yet close to town and the mountains. A great place to relax after a day of hiking or sightseeing. We also appreciated the fact that it is pet friendly. Thanks Neal and Ruth!
