Just as all the other reviews state, the pictures don't do this place justice!
I went back and forth trying to decide between 3 different places to stay, all of which were within walking distance of Maria's place. I am glad to say I chose the right one.
It is just a mile away from Gruene, TX and less than that to Gruene River Co. and Rockin' R rentals. If you end up going up river from the Gruene Bridge you get to float right by the house.
I'll start with the yard, it's ridiculous!!! It is massive, perfectly groomed and has seating everywhere, both close to the house and down right next to the river. It has two grills (charcoal and gas), a big fire pit, horseshoes, a dock with access to the water (big plus), canoes and kayaks (which you can take up river about 8-10 min to see the rapids). I can't say enough about the yard, it had so much water front. You can also just post up in the water out front, because there are two huge rocks just under the water out in the middle of the river to stand on. The water was fairly low, so when we were all out there the water came up to around our waist/chests. Made for good times watching all the tubers and rafters float by.
Now for the house. It looks a little crazy and it is, but the way it is setup creates privacy for all the guests. We had 21 people staying, ranging from 2 to 65 and we never felt cramped at all. It is spaced out nicely and there are plenty of bathrooms to accommodate everyone. It does have a main room with one TV (only time we used it was to watch the NBA Finals one night, lots of Spurs fans with us) and WIFI so your phones will work with no problem.
This was the first of what hopes to be an annual trip for my family and we will definitely be using Maria's house again in the future.

awesome family reunion
First I will like to say the house is beautiful in person. The pictures are not compared to the actual beauty you see when you arrive. This was our first time our big family has been together under one roof. We did everything this home has to offer from kayaking,tubing, shmores, movie night and just simply enjoying each others company. Home is clean the only set back was cooking time. It needs bigger pans for larger families other than that we had a grand time. I definately recommend this home to anyone that is looking for fun time with your loved ones. Pictures need to be updated Ms. Maria I don't remember seeing the pictures of your beautiful swings and your lovely bonfire circle. This home is great for all ages. All ages welcomed and there is more than enough room to sprawl around and relax.

This is a fabulous house with a wonderful yard to enjoy with a large group. It was the yard that sold me on this place as there were plenty of seating arrangements that our group could enjoy. The use of the canoes and kayaks was a nice bonus. Working with Maria was so easy and she was very accommodating. The only downside were the steps leading down from the landing at the top for parking cars. The steps were unsafe so guests had to walk down the steep driveway - challenging for some of our older guests. When the occasion should arise, we will defintely rent this home again.

Our family vacation
We rented this house for a family get together celebrating my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. We had 15 adults and 2 babies. The house was clean and spacious and had all the amenities needed for a very comfortable stay. The outside grounds were amazing! So beautiful and so much room to spread out and have a wonderful time. We had a campfire every night which was great fun! Some of the group went up and down the river in the kayaks and even floated in tubes a bit. We spent time shopping and hanging out in Gruene which was close and easily accessible. The Gristmill and Del Rio Tacos were terrific places to eat. Our family had a wonderful time together and everyone wants to return in the future. Maria was very kind and accommodating. I highly recommend this property!!

Sixteen bday
Arrived with ten teenagers and instantly was impressed with the house and property. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The grounds were beautiful with lots of room for any activities. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and canoes the location was perfect on the river. We had an amazing time and have a lifetime of memories. Maria was very helpful and welciming..We will be back!

Great for a large gathering.......
We rented the Riverfront House for ourselves, family and out of town guests to attend our son's wedding at the Dry Comal Creek Vineyard. The house suited us perfectly. Lots of space to hang out outside. The kids enjoyed the kayaks and fishing dock. We all enjoyed the large fire pit after the rehearsal dinner. Close to everything in New Braunfels and Gruene. We had 16 guests and still had a few beds left over. Nice to have so many bathrooms.

The 70th Birthday Party Celebration
We had a large group of family members from 7yrs old to 93 yrs old! We cooked out Friday night on the grill and had plenty of seating for everyone in the spacious backyard! Kayaks and Canoe were a huge hit all evening and into the next day. We celebrated with an outdoor traditional birthday party Saturday and that was amazing on the porch and yard. And then a buffet breakfast on the dining room table Sunday morning and everyone sat around in the living area and kitchen. We had 18 stay at the house overnight and 30+ for the cookouts and breakfast (just a few hours each day). Maria was able to accomodate our early check in request and let us tour before so we could plan room assignments and set up ahead of time. We absolutely had a great time! Clean bedding... plenty of towels in each bathroom... and lots of wildlife. The deer roaming the neighborhood, the turtles in the river and the cute squirrels! The kids loved the backyard swings and running in and out of the different rooms... the house was perfect so everyone had their very own space and bathroom!! Couldn't have picked a better location for this event. Can't wait for the next one!!

Good setting!
Beautiful setting on the river! We had all the adult "toys" available to us to use on the river. Enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor seating. The house was very homey, and had all the utensils needed for meals. Great to have the AC units! Great space for a family reunion or just lots of friends, and the city of Gruene was entertaining!

Fabulous Get-away!
Me along with 13 of my friends and family had the pleasure of staying at the Riverfront House. This was our second visit and it was just as wonderful as the first. We love the house..all the private rooms with bathrooms work wonderful for couples!!! There is pleny of room for everyone and the outside area is the real prize. Morning or dusk, this outside sitting area on the river is truely a gem! We even used the kyak for a morning ride up the river. I absolutly recommend this house for anyone looking for a fun, peaceful place to getaway. Wonderful for large familys, couples, or children. We really look forward to coming back next year!!!
