Teachers get a greatly need break

30 of us (teachers) came to Moriah for a staff development retreat (some of us stayed at the property next door) - this place was incredible! It was roomy and welcoming. It offered plenty of space for people who wanted quiet time while also providing a great gathering spot for those who wanted to socialize. The amenities - cookware, flatware, linens, etc. - were phenomenal as well.

The place looks like something out of a Texas fairytale - and it feels that way too! Anyone with the opportunity to stay here should - we are coming back as soon as we can round up a large enough group.

Family Reunion Find!

We just spent Easter weekend at Moriah for a yearly family reunion. This was the perfect location for a family get together. We also occupied the adjacent property called farr side and the combination of the two provided more than enough room for all 25 of us (including small children). The beautiful porches with clusters of rocking chairs were perfect for relaxing and spending time with family we rarely see. The building itself is beautifully decorated and very unique. We loved the big open kitchen and enjoyed preparing all of our meals there. All in all this was a great find.

Moriah is the perfect combination of "away from it all," yet still close enough in for necessities and conveniences. I have now stayed there twice, once in the winter and once in the summer, and either season, the place is great!

This well-maintained property was perfect for our large group and slept everyone more than comfortably. The authentic cabins combined with modern-day amenties were beautifully furnished and well-maintained. We had some of the best night's sleep in our lives! Comfortable beds, nice linens and towels and perfectly sized bathrooms (a must for ladies!). I also cannot imagine a better place to unwind than the large back porch in a rocking chair.

The property has a great fire pit (conditions permitting--Central Texas is in a pretty big drought at the moment and burns bans were in effect when we were there in the winter). Probably one of my favorite parts is the full-size kitchen perfectly designed for hosting a large number of people and preparing meals for all those people. With everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal, as well as modern conveniences like a dish washer, this kitchen made my home kitchen look sad and cramped!

Moriah is an ideal place for a group of friends, family gatherings or a smaller-sized corporate retreat. We've returned once already and hope to again in the future!

I have stayed here more than one time. There are wonderful porches with rocking chairs looking out over beautiful landscape. The lake is easily accessible from the property. The cabins are absolutely gorgeous, log cabin-type accommodations that give the property a charming, old world feel. Each of the suites in the cabins are clean and well maintained with modern fixtures. There are volleyball nets, ping pong tables and a variety of games to keep everyone happy. I would recommend this property to anyone with a large group of people who want to relax and have a great time with each other.

Amazing Lake Retreat

Moriah is not your average lakefront estate. The historic buildings are immaculately refurbished with the combination of beautiful rustic décor, modern fixtures and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is huge enough to accommodate a team of cooks. Appliances include multiple refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, sinks and at least one of everything else. There are two long dining tables, one inside and one on the porch that can each seat a dozen or more guests.

The living areas include: a very large open area with four big couches and even more chairs, a loft space, and four large porches. There is more than enough furniture indoors and outdoors, but the rocking chairs on the huge porch that overlooks the lake are always the favorite.

The entertainment options are plentiful. There is a full-size volleyball court, ping pong table, and foosball table.

Moriah is the perfect place for big groups but is cozy enough for small get-togethers. There is plenty of privacy and space on this portion of Lake Travis, which isn’t as densely developed as so many others. The charm of these historic buildings is difficult to overstate and has to be seen to be appreciated. Moriah has more personality than most ordinary rental properties. I know I’ll be back soon and friends that have joined me there have also inquired about future stays. You won’t be disappointed.

I recently organized my third trip here with a group of 12 friends. We love to cook together in the big kitchen, play volleyball and sit around the fire pit at night. The amenities are top notch and the layout of the cabins provides privacy within the group setting. Plus -- awesome, comfortable beds! It has always been the perfect getaway for us.
