The ultimate in vacations. Since my family is scattered from California to Pennsylvania to Florida, this was a perfect geographical choice.
My main concern was that my grandchildren, age nine and eleven would be "bored!" They were most impressed from the hot tub to the Pacman game and so much more.
There is so much to do in the area, Biltmore Estate which we rode bicycles along the farm trails and enjoyed very much. We went to the Piscah National Forest and tried rock climbing as well as white water rafting within driving distance for a unique days outing.
The shops in Black Moutain were very charming as well as the southern charm of merchants. I could have spent a whole day perusing the book collection at Jean & Carl Franklin's Cherry Street bookstore. We found a quaint little vegetable stand on the way to Ashville and explored the creek and truly huge rocks behind the vegie stand. Some of our best photos came from there. The kids had to be threatened with bodily injury to tear themselves away (not really). It was refreshing to observe children enjoying God's landscape and interacting with humans instead of an electronic gadget.
We gathered to celebrate my youngest child's licensure to practice psychology in the state of California. What we came away with was a renewal of spirit and the knowledge of this fact. If more families vacationed in this heaven on earth, my daughter might not be so busy in her practice.

A Family Getaway

Prior to arrival Mike was easy to deal with thru the several emails we exchanged with one another. The cabin appeared just as it looks in the pictures. We arrived to find a bottle of wine and a list of instructions from the owner. The layout of the cabin worked very well as everyone had their own space when they needed to get away. The yard outside was great for setting up some games to play during the day. We used the hot tub every night and we took advantage of the fire pit night one night to make smores. The entire area around the cabin was beautiful as we took the time to walk around the other homes and walking trails in the area one morning. The central location of Black Mountain was great for all of our day trips. We visited the waterfalls in the DuPont Forest and stopped in Brevard. Another day we drove up to Linville Falls to wander around the trails. We even drove into Charlotte to visit Hendricks Motorsports and Charlotte Motor Speedway. on our last day, we just wandered around downtown Black Mountain checking out the shops in the area. At the end of each day we looked forward to coming back to the cabin and enjoying a meal together before relaxing in the hot tub. Thank You for sharing your cabin with us. It was a wonderful experience and I will certainly consider staying here again when we return to the area in the future.

We have a very active family of 5 and a dog and Highrock Haven was perfect for us for our vacation in Black Mountain and Pisgah! From the easy accessibility to the many beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails of the region to the relaxing comfort of the fireplace, game room, and hot tub overlooking Mount Mitchell, this was perfect for all of us. Close proximity to the Blue Ridge Parkway and its many activities, horseback riding, Asheville activities. The house has all of the amenities you could need and many more and very responsible and responsive owners. We loved every moment.

20th Anniversary Celebration - AMAZING

We had four wonderful days at Highrock Haven. The weather was perfect. Chilly enough to enjoy the fireplace and the hot tub and warm enough to enjoy the walks we took in Lake Lure, Black Mountain, and Chimney Rock. All of these lovely towns were within 30 minutes of the cabin! The town of Black Mountain is very quaint and the locals could not have been more welcoming. The Ingles grocery store provided us with all the foods and fixins we needed for the long weekend and was less than 15 minutes down the mountain. The owners have thought of everything when stocking the cabin. From pans and utensils to towels and soap, we had what we needed right there on site. There was fresh stacked firewood for the indoor and outdoor fireplace and the hot tub was warm and ready to use on arrival. The cabin itself was immaculate and welcoming as soon as we opened the front door. There is a sense of peace on the mountain that we were able to enjoy by simply slowing our lives for a few days and embracing nature. The stars were close enough at night that I felt like we could reach out and touch them. The game room was a huge hit for all of us! There were also DVDs and board games tucked away in every room. We didn't use the TV much, except to play music on! However, the satellite service is great and there are hundreds of channels to choose from if you enjoy just relaxing in front of the TV.
Thank you so much for a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing four days!! We look forward to our return!

This vacation home is truly exceptional. The house itself is beautifully designed, built and furnished. It is impeccably maintained, and sublimely comfortable. The listing description is accurate in all respects, and the home can easily accommodate a large number of people, whether families or friends. The space is also is perfectly delightful (and a great value) for a couple alone, as my wife and I found. To add to all this, the owner could not have been nicer, more attentive, or more accommodating. Highly recommended to all.

It is more beautiful when you are there. The pictures can not due justice.
Fron the beds and pillows being comfortable to the warm comfy feeling in every room. The kids loved it as much as we did.

This incredible home was mislabeled, it should have been called High Rock Heaven! The views were simply awesome, the home lacked absolutely nothing and the owners were extremely attentive to every need and very helpful with information about the general area. We did not visit any restaurants in town but rather utilized the grill every night of our stay for dinner. It was really special to cook out on the porch and just enjoy the spectacular views and the "Mountain Air"! The hot tub was used extensively, along with the fireplace and the dogs just loved wrestling in the porch/deck area. The huge grassy area was perfect for walking the dogs for their exercise. We all got a daily cardio workout going up all of the stairs! It was simply a wonderful place to relax and recharge the batteries. Having the NFL Package also was quite nice. Go Pack Go!

This place has it all! High Rock Haven is beautiful, well appointed, and just feels like home... better than home actually. It has a ping-pong / pool table; plenty of games,videos & books to keep the kiddos (and grandpa) entertained; a hot tub under the stars, rocking chairs on the porch with views of Mt Mitchell and a nice big grill for entertaining. This place is an easy drive to Black Mountain, Asheville, and The Blue Ridge Mountains where you will find wonderful restaurants and plenty of good hikng trails. We stayed for 3 weeks in September and I have to say it was very hard to leave.

Our stay at your home re-built our faith in VRBO. After a just ok experience this past summer in Hilton Head, where the house was nothing like the pictures ~ this house was even better than the pictures! The home was furnished nicely and what can i say about the view?! Breathtaking! While staying in Black Mountain we enjoyed visting the Biltmore Estate (amazing) and Grandfather Mountain (worth the ride!). We would recommend this home to anyone that would like to stay in a beautiful home with a beautiful view!
