*** Amazing mountain view.

*** Log Home.

*** 2 ponds on the property.

Guest Book: The house was wonderful, everyone had a great time. We had a tiny bit of trouble getting there on Friday navigating the roads at night, but nothing significant. After we got to the house, everything went perfectly. The house was incredibly clean and is nicely designed/decorated. We basically just spent most of our time relaxing on the deck or hiking around the property. The view and the property is beautiful.

Guest Book: We had a great stay. I will send some pictures after we unpack. We really appreciated how clean the house was and the setting was perfect. I was impressed with the overall maintenance of the place - it hardly looked lived in. I loved the new lock that was cool!

Guest Book: I didn't expect the house to be so beautiful. The house inside and the property is so well maintained- we just loved it. The view from the deck was amazing. We spent a lot of times sitting in the deck watching the stars. I liked your carry-on grill- we took it to the pond and had an excellent time doing BBQ and relaxing there. Thank you for great setup.

Best New Years Ever!

Submitted: January 7, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
Wow, this place is great! We arrived to a foot of fresh snow and the mountains we're spectacularly beautiful. The cabin itself is very private and cozy and clean (there was a bit of clutter in the basement near the laundry machines, but nowhere near intrusive or offensive—other than that the linens, dishes, and main spaces/bedrooms were all very clean!), and coordinating with the owner for arrival/payment/access was a snap. Slept 6 of us (three couples) comfortably, and the kitchen had sufficient supplies for cooking a wide variety of breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

We had a fire going all weekend in the amazing soap stone woodstove/fireplace, perfect to warm up with after sledding down the hillside. The views were beautiful and wide open, and we definitely want to come back in the warmer months when there are leaves on the trees and we can really walk the grounds and enjoy our morning coffee in the sun on the wrap around deck.

Being wintertime, we didn't seek out too many activities off the property, but there is a well stocked grocery store nearby to re-up on supplies and firewood, and a cute downtown area if you like to dine out or go shopping/antiquing.

All in all 10/10, we will definitely return! To the owner—thanks so much for a great weekend!!

AMAZING PROPERTY, GORGEOUS LANDS, DECENT AMENITIES

5 of 5
Submitted: June 2, 2011 Stayed: May 2011
Although the actual rental cottage was lacking in basic amenities I'm leaving an EXCELLENT rating because the property and lands are amazing that it makes up for the few cons about the house.

The hills were alive with the sound of...silence! and it's spectacular. Immense property with wide open spaces, sprawling hills, grassy lands, deep woods, a creek and two ponds. A very well-kept serene and private retreat.

The house has a huge wrap-around deck that overlooks the grounds surrounded by huge and abundantly fragrant lilac bushes. A covered patio and huge living room with TV/DVDplayer. The cottage itself is big and there is ample space and big bedrooms with plenty of closet spaces. However the amenities can be bumped up--very limited # of towels, cutlery/utensils and basic cooking aids like oil, salt, vinegar, baking or cookware, etc that I'm not used to seeing so little to none of at a rental in the area. Assume you have to bring everything when you go up there except they stock TP and paper towels aplenty.

Other pros about the house: washer/dryer in basement for use, all the windows have screens and blinds that work, dishwasher and microwave in a separate huge kitchen with dining area. Two full bathrooms. Separate 2-car garage. Charcoal BBQ with some tools (have to buy your own charcoals).

Heads up: water pressure in showers are very weak to a trickle at times, the website lists that the house sleeps 6 but there are a total of 3 beds--one queen downstairs and 2 full upstairs--so consider it sleeps 4 maximum, realistically, unless you are with children. Apparently there is a newly renovated bedroom downstairs that sleeps 2 in the basement but we did not have access.

Overall, we really enjoyed the stay because this property is too amazing and we were able to overlook whatever was lacking in the house and appreciate the surrounding environment. Would definitely go back.

great place

fabulous, new, clean, well kept house on amazing property, close to fun mountain activities and towns. great for my friends and i with small kids in that we could walk out the front door and go for a walk in the fields, on the road, or up the mountain adjoining the property which has a network of logging paths that lead to great views. really great sledding opportunities in the winter! peaceful, quite, and beautiful.

our suggested improvements are minor and include: have wood stocked for guests when they arrive, have some bigger pots, more cups and (bigger) glasses, and a few more kitchen items (like a spatula!). stocks of things like TP, paper towels and laundry detergent would be nice as well.

we highly recommend this place!!

Good Down Time

This is a terrificly located and wonderful house to rent. The descriptions are accurate, and the cabin is very clean and well maintained. We loved the open , modern look in furnishings, and didn't mind that there was no TV or radio.
You can rent good movies in the town of Walton--or cherish the silence and read a book ! We also appreciated the comfy clean towels, and sheets. The property and neighborhood is good for beautiful early morning walks, and runs. We had a terrific stay there, and plan on returning.

Beautiful Country Spot

This cottage is truly great for a getaway. I loved the quiet, country location. The property is generously spacious with plenty of walking and hiking opportunities. The view is absolutely gorgeous and the night sky is vast and inspiring.
The house inside was very clean. There is plenty to cook with in the kitchen (a sandwich press, a rice cooker, a microwave, and pots and pans and utensils).
There are only very small mugs, so if you like a nice big cup of tea or coffee in the morning, you might want to bring your own mug.
The beds are comfy. The sofas are not so comfy. Everything inside seems fairly new. The screened in porch to the front of the house is quite pleasant.
I would definitely enjoy renting the place again.

Serenity in the Catskills

This was our second time renting and we love it. The cabin is pristine. There is no cable and no internet thank goodness! There is however a DVD player for those who must. The surrounding pasture, and valley view are unrivaled. The ponds are in fact healthy with fish and frogs and sometimes our dog. The trip to the stream is a forested adventure with fern covered ground and moss covered stone. The only prominent sound is nature. It is a place for rejuvanation, reflection and peace. We plan on renting again.

Lovely Setup

5 of 5
Submitted: September 1, 2008 Stayed: October 2007
The cottage is beautifully setup, spacious and very clean. The best thing about the cottage is the mountain view, night sky, hiking and overall cleanness of the house and the property. The kitchen has everything for vacationers. The furniture is not quite expensive but very clean and nicely setup. The furniture and utensils in the kitten seem to be pretty new, making us using them comfortably. If you enjoy hiking, this property is an excellent choice, since you can spend hours hiking around the property. The ponds are really great to enjoy, about 5/7 minutes walk from the cottage. If you want to fish, there are other places nearby to fish. I am not sure if these ponds have fish. The stream is pretty small, another 5/7 minutes walk from the ponds. Nothing gorgeous about the stream but you can walk around it and enjoy the stream. They are all inside the property, which is great. In Catskills area, everything seem to be hilly and mountainous. This property is also little bit hilly going down the ponds and walking around, but nothing significant, we had no problem walking around with 5 and 7 years old kids. The property is huge, so if you don’t like to walk much, you may not enjoy this property expect the cottage itself. The sitting arrangement in the living room is spacious, very clean and enjoyable, specially the Tuliviki soap stone fireplace. One of the sofas is small, but that was ok. Nothing in the cottage is setup expensively, but quite homely, clean and new. Well that’s how it is setup in country vacation cottage I suppose. I have no problem with water or heating, the water is clean and has central filter in the basement to purify it as I observed, and the heating is adequate. I have rented many vacation houses over the years. This cottage is far better than others and already visited this cottage twice- once in the summer and another time in the winter, well in the winter it has its own beauty with gorgeous snow. My family loves this property. We would definitely like to go there again.

AMENITIES

4 of 5
Submitted: August 9, 2008 Stayed: August 2008
The house and view are lovely. The seating in the living is far from comfy. There are no smoke alarms or fire extinguisher. There was no firewood. The grass needed mowing. There are 2 ceiling fans--one on the enclosed porch and one in an upstairs bedroom. The fully equipped kitchen has 3 pots and 2 small teflon frying pans. If you need to measure something, bring measuring spoons and cups. We put the heat on one night as it was 50 degrees and awoke in the middle of the night to a terrible whistling noise coming from the baseboard heating in the living area. The house is clean thanks to the housekeeper, Eve. This is the second time I have rented and although this house was more spacious, the owner of the first house kept up the property much better than these owners. It would also be nice to have internet service--it is 2008!!!!! There were no books to read so bring your own. There was one board game and a triple game of chess and whatever. Bring a radio, there is none provided. It seems everything is from IKEA which is not a problem, except for the mattress in the first floor bedroom. By the end of my vacation, I could have used a back massage. Also in this bedroom there is one small dresser, but it was filled with linens. As I said the house is nice and the view is great. Oh--don't be fooled by the ponds and stream. There seems to be no fish in the pond and it was impossible to get to the stream. If you have small children, it is a nice downhill walk to the pond so be prepared to carry them. Don't expect to rent this property again, especially since the owners were out of the country while I was at their home.

The house is absolutely clean and very well maintained. We spent a lot of times hiking around the property, sat in the deck watching the sunset and the night sky. It has a gorgeous view of the mountain and the ponds. I loved those 2 ponds next to each other. We spotted bunch of deer in the property early in the morning- it was a beautiful seen. We really had a wonderful time there relaxing and enjoying our time.
