The first words out of first time visitors are “WOW'! Great spot, nice low bluff, fantastic beach.” Duneswater at Onekama is all that: a private, one-family home with brand new kitchen filled with state-of-the-art amenities, completed Fall 2009.
From the private road entrance, the lowest level contains a beach shower and laundry facilities. The main floor is reached from the inner stairway or from the south side redwood deck, complete with cushioned deck furniture and a gas barbecue. The main floor great room is dominated by the spectacular lake views and the large fieldstone working wood fireplace. The dining area shares this space.
The new kitchen has everything you need or want. Gas stove and cooktop with lake view, coffee makers (drip & espresso), all small appliances, icemaker, dishwasher and microwave. Truly a cook’s kitchen with lots of counter space and breakfast bar with swivel stools.
The south bedroom has a queen bed and a lazy-boy reading chair. The north bedroom contains twin beds. The main floor full bathroom was recently remodeled and has a large well-lit walk-in shower.
Upstairs is a sleeping loft with a variety of twin beds and a full bed to accommodate your crew’s requirements. The loft has an open space for cards or games, an artist’s/crafter’s table and 1/2 bathroom.
Dogs have always lived in this house, so one well-behaved dog is allowed with an additional $200 refundable pet deposit. As a result, if you have dog allergies another home may suit you better.
There is no smoking.
Outdoors is living with the view. The redwood deck is protected from northerly breezes. The shade patio is for taking the air, and the beach itself is for lounging, walking or pit-fires.
There are books, games and satellite dish TV, even DVDs and music CDs – but that’s not why you choose Duneswater. The secluded location, private beach, incredible view, comfortable well appointed home – that’s the choice!
Whatever your “great” vacation requirements might be, if it’s not at Duneswater itself, it is nearby. The Village of Onekama has groceries at Franz’s IGA, WIFI hotspot, post office, hardware store, gift shops and more good restaurants than a city many times its size. Most other amenities, including a casino, are 15 miles south in Manistee. If you are a golfer, the four closest courses include Arcadia Bluffs (Golf Digest #10 ranked), The Heathlands at Onekama, Bear Lake County Highlands and Manistee National. A visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Shoreline, voted Good Morning America's 'Most Beautiful Place in America' in 2011, is a great excursion north along scenic M-22.
Maximum occupancy is 8 people.
No smoking.
