Perfect Vacation Home

A Rae Delray Beach, Florida, United States
Review Submitted: June 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This was our second stay in the Bronze Lantern. In 2008, we rented for four weeks, in 2009 we rented for five weeks, and we are planning our return in 2010 for a period as yet undetermined.

Owners Diane and Craig, who live in the Hideout, are very gracious as they welcome you to their home. The house and furnishings are very well maintained. As experienced on our first visit in 2008, the kitchenware is what any cook might need, the linens are abundant, and everything in the house was fresh and clean, clean, clean.

We have stayed in countless rentals throughout the years. None can compare to this. The property is maintained on a consistant schedule, and its owners are very invested in the comfort of those to whom they rent. On this, our second stay in the Bronze Lantern, we noticed updated furnishings and kitchenware. While there, the two-year-old gas grill was replaced. If a renter has a request, it is filled as soon as possible, sometimes within minutes.

The fantastic game room, with its pool table, air hockey, and ping pong, offers a great retreat on a rainy day. The gas fireplace quickly and easily takes any chill out of the air. Look out the second story front windows; you feel as if you're in the treetops. Check out the screened porch and you're treated to roaming deer and their babies. This is an unbelievable place to relax with family and friends, or in serene seclusion as you commune with nature.

It is such a spacious, comfortable home, that our son and daughter-in-law will again visit with their two infants, extending their five day stay in 2008 to nine days in 2009. Friends who drove from Montreal to visit with us for three days will come again next year for a longer period. The Bronze Lantern makes this a perfect vacation.

What you see in the ad is exactly what you get, and the price is unbelievably "user" friendly. We consider ourselves very lucky to have found this wonderful vacation property and are looking forward to our return to the Bronze Lantern in the summer of 2010 and beyond.
Owner's Response: Hi Travelers!

We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful and comfortable home in the Hideout (Pa. Poconos).

As you see, our guests often become repeat visitors.

They love the spaciousness of "The Bronze Lantern" and spend many enjoyable hours in the Game Room!

We thank our current customers for sharing your experiences in this home with potential customers.

The Owners.

Twice the fun in the Bronze Lantern

ivan b new york city
Review Submitted: June 11, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We spent Memorial day and the following 4 days at the Bronze Lantern and our mini vacation has been just great!
We already had an awesome experience at the White Lantern, the twin sister home from the same owners, and our expectation were met in full if not exceeded. The house itself and the location, an even more private niche, was exactly what we needed. Every detail in the house could only have been taken care by somebody in love with the place. It is not only a house, but it has the feeling of a home. We were only 2 and a half (little baby just loved the nature in the surrounding area) and somehow we felt bad that all the space (4 bedrooms!!) was left unused, this place would be perfect for a large family or a party of at least 8 or 10. Not to mention that if shared the price would be just ridiculous, you couldn't rent a closet in NY for that money!!
But the quiet and the warm feeling was just overwhelming, too bad we had to leave after only 4 days, because we were getting used to the bucolic lifestyle of the Hideout.
Diane and her husband Craig went out of their way to see if we could need anything else, but what else could one need if the all situation was so picture perfect.
We are already looking forward to another vacation either at the White or Bronze Lantern.
Thanks guys!!!
Owner's Response: We work every day so that future renters will appreciate and enjjoy the warmth and feeling of home you described in both "The Bronze and White Lanterns". We wanted to make our homes a vacation place people would enjoy and want to come back to. Judging from the number of third and fourth visits by families & friends, it looks as though we have met our goal..

Great Stay....until we left

Falkshentre Party Paramus, NJ
Review Submitted: June 5, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
3 couples + our 5 kids spent a fun weekend at the "Bronze Lantern". The house is generally clean and spacious and looks like the pictures in the listing which we appreciated. Owners were easy to deal with during the booking process.

The deck is enormous although I don't quite understand why it overlooks the driveway - After driving all the way out to "the country", I certainly would've preferred to look at something more "nature like" as opposed to our 3
parked SUV's and the road.

We really enjoyed the screened in porch. Ate our meals there and hung out at night - it was nice.

I could get picky about the fact that the provided towels
were mildewey or that the sound didn't work on the main tv for the first 24 hrs until we finally figured out how to reprogram it ourselves (called owner in am but she didn't call us back until late in the day). Also, the pool
table in the basement isn't level which made it absolutely impossible to actually shoot a legit game of pool.

However, putting those issues aside, we had a
great time anyway and left the bronze lantern thinking that we'd consider returning annually as a tradition.

That said, our experience post-departure has really been a turnoff and disappointment as the owner charged us for some damage to their coffee pot that we did not do + retained a portion of our security deposit because we were not completely out of the house on time. The truth is that we were 15-20 minutes late leaving. However, we were out of the basement and all of the bedrooms right on time and the two cleaning ladies went upstairs to start cleaning for the next tennants right on time - so in my opinion there was no inconvenience really caused and this wasn't necessary.

Anyhow, if you're going to stay at the Bronze Lantern, just be aware that you might get dinged after you leave - so just budget a few extra dollars for that and you'll be alright. We tried to discuss the situation rationally w/ the
owner but when we questioned the charges, she told us that we weren't welcome back in the future. Her idea of resolving the problem was to just retaine a portion of our security deposit and discontinue all communication with us.

I will say that I appreciated that she returned the balance of our security deposit promptly...but certainly don't appreciate the false deductions nor the tone that she took
when we disputed the damages she was charging us as it just didn't feel very hospitable.

Perfect property in so many ways

Rob1234 Virginia
Review Submitted: February 4, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
My weekend rental of "The Bronze Lantern" was an overall great experience. This property had absolutely everything someone would look for on a short, or long term vacation. The home has been meticulously maintained, both inside and out, it almost still smells brand new. It is larger than it appears in the pictures, I went up to the area with a group of 10 people, and there was plenty of room for everyone. Whether sitting on the comfortable couches watching the HD TV, or playing on one of the game tables downstairs, this home is perfect for either a getaway with friends, or relaxation with a family. There are numerous activities in the community (skiing/resturant), and the town with more options is a short drive away. The best part of the vacation is the precision and accommodating nature of the owner. I booked this vacation very last minute, and the property owner was always there to answer questions, quickly and honestly. Even after my trip was booked and official, the owner still made it a point to call me to be sure I understood the direction and e-mails I had been sent. Definitely recommend this property for anyone looking for a relaxing and good time, and an all around helpful owner.
Owner's Response: My goal is to make renters feel that they have had a vacation experience they will never forget (and will want to repeat.).
Thanks, Robert, for this descriptive and honest review. Come back soon and bring your friends again!

Great house for a weekend or week retreat!

Garret Montvale, New Jersey
Review Submitted: November 19, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
Thank you Diane, our group of 8 enjoyed the retreat weekend at your home at The Hideway. The house was spotless clean when we arrived and was exactly as described. The tvs, basement games, and the updated kitchen were very nice amenities. Even though the weather was horrible we kpet busy playing ping pong, pool, Nintendo Wii and cooking up a storm...We really felt "home away home" and hope to come back next year.
Thanks Again,
Garret
Owner's Response: Wow! Another 5of 5!

Our home will meet all of your expectations too!

We were fortunate to “discover” the Bronze Lantern in 2007, while visiting family who live full-time in the Hideout.

Owner, Diane Guest, lives in the Hideout and is uniquely responsive to the needs of her renters. The house is “fresh” clean; the kitchen as well-equipped and up-to-date as our own; the quality of the furnishings and accessories, excellent; the beds a treat to sleep on.

For our first experience at the Bronze Lantern, we rented for four weeks, making it “our own” home away from home. Our son, daughter-in-law, and their two infants came to visit for five days and stayed seven. We all enjoyed the warmth and comfort of this house while sharing the wildlife experience in the front yard.

We had always loved this community, with all that it and the surrounding area have to offer. We used the Hideout golf course and beaches, which are well-maintained, and the club house restaurant, where the menu offers good quality, moderately priced selections. Security, Pro Shop and Club House staff are courteous, and make everyone feel right at home. Options for day trips in the areas surrounding the Hideout are abundant.

What a pleasurable experience this has been. We’re looking forward to our return to the Bronze Lantern in the summer of 2009, when we will extend our stay to five weeks.

We stayed in the "Bronze Lantern" this past Labor Day weekend and had the best time. The house was clean and everything we could possible need was there. The game room provided lots of great fun at night and the house was only minutes away from the beautiful lake and other daytime activites.

What a great time...Lovely Spot

WHYN Maplewood, NJ
Review Submitted: June 3, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
My bookclub went to the chalet this past winter and had such a lovely time. We were 10 ladies on a mission of fun. Well we had that and then some. The chalet was as advertised...beautiful. In fact we all had a serious discussion about ownership of a house in the area. It's so breathtaking. Now I will say that driving in the snow to get there wasn't fun but after we all got there it was wonderful. Even when our car was stuck in the snow we never felt stranded because the facilities security took care of us. Our owners husband even came bright and early the next day to make sure we had a clear deck to reach our cars. All I can say is we will be back. Thanks again. Nubian Sisters Jammin Wit Lit.

BRAND NEW HOUSE, everything was perfect

Ilya from Brooklyn, NY brooklyn, New York
Review Submitted: April 25, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
The house is clean, which is very important for me. Living room, kitchen, bedrooms were in perfect condition. Also 100 TV channels.
The game room is fun, you can bring your own paddles if you are serious about ping pong. The community is quite and looks very safe. The lake which is 5 minutes away from the house has a lot of fish. Make sure you have a license cause the fee is 250$!!!
For this money the house was better than i was expecting. We met the owners because we ran out of gas while using the grill. They changed everything in 15 minutes, that was excellent service. We were happy to choose this property. Thanks to the previous reviews they were very helpful. Also for directions, ask owners how to get to the main gate and not NORTH GATE because thats where you first have to go.
r
Owner's Response: Thanks so much for pointing out how close we are to the largest lake in The Hideout.

Also, thanks for verifying the information contained in our other reviews. That helps future renters know that what is posted is true.

Glad you enjoyed our home and that it exceeded your expectations.

Per your advice, we are looking forward to hosting you again soon!
