Wonderful cottage in Bar Harbor

Bevielou Cincinnati Ohio
Review Submitted: November 7, 2007 Date of Stay: October 2007
We had a wonderful stay at the Red House. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The updated appliances and beds made our stay very convenient and comfortable.
We loved picnicking and cooking dinners at the cottage. The gas grill was a real plus. It was fun to sit and relax on the deck after dinner and look out on to Acadia woods.
The cottage has its old time charm with antique furniture and carpet decorating several areas of the cottage. The bathrooms and showers were very nice- Thank you!!! The compact washer and dryer were an added plus. After jogging it was nice to be able to wash clothes and we were also able to pack light.
The cottage was conveniently located close to Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor. And now the addition of air- conditioning will definitley coax us to return to vacation during summer in the near future.

All that you've read here is true......The Red House is a wonderful way to experience Bar Harbor! The cottage is quaint, very clean, and affords you all the ammenities of home. The kitchen is well stocked with new oven and dishwasher, the beds are extremely comfortable, and two full baths is such a bonus! Star gazing on the back deck and the proximity to Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor adds to its charm! The owners are wonderful hosts; would highly recommend a vacation in this wonderful cottage!

Very tranquil

We stayed at the Red House in July 2007. It was very clean, well stocked, and cozy. Our family of 4 (2 small kids) were very comfortable in the 2 bedrooms. Peggy was even able to get a pack-n-play for our baby so we didn't have to bring one. There were some games and videos for the kids on rainy days. The back porch was used often, especially during mornings drinking coffee and watching the sunrise and reading books in the afternoon. We brought our own portable baby gate for the stairs inside and on the back deck. It is also close to Acadia Nat'l Park and downtown Bar Harbor. Our only complaints were: the house was too close to the road so cars driving by could be heard through the thin windows and the lobster pot for cooking was small (could barely fit 2 lobsters). Overall, it is a great place to stay! Would recommend!

Beautiful Comfort &amd; Convenient

We stayed in the Red house the first week in September, the home was even more beautiful than the people said, all the comforts of home, a back porch with a great grill and table for dinner in the evening or for breakfast. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely and furnished to a tea.I thought it would be a great place to bring my grandchildren very private and a nice big backyard for playing or that nice evening to build a fire and make s-mores. We didn't have a car , so the nice part was getting up in the morning , the bus stopped right in front of the house and we could go to breakfast then on to our outing of kayaking or shopping, touring the entire Island. transportation is wonderful and free. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans for cooking lobster or whatever you like for dinner. It was very clean! Bar Harbor is one of my favorite places to visit and the Red House is the best place to stay.

The Perfect Place!

We had a terrific time staying at this cute cottage just outside of Bar Harbor. It had everything we needed - all we had to buy was the food! The location was great - away from the hustle and bustle of the town but right outside the entrance to Acadia. And the place was immaculate - couldn't ask for anything cleaner. The deck was awesome with privacy and a beautiful view into the woods. The stairs inside are steep so I'm not sure I would recommend this for older folks or families with toddlers. Other than that, this was the perfect place!

Lovely Cottage

New Jersey Absecon, NJ
Review Submitted: November 15, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2007
We had a great experience staying at the Red House in Bar Harbor....we had 2 adults and two teens. It was clean and very "acadia".We probably used the porch the most. The price couldn't be beat, but the best was the location...close to everything, but past the mad traffic of downtown Bar Harbor. Shuttle stops right outside the door. Only disappointment was that it was close to the road, so we couldn't let our Golden Retriever enjoy running through the woods out back. We would definitely return. New Jersey

A beautiful little cottage

We loved this place! Unlike some other vacation rentals, this sweet cottage is mainatined and furnished by the owners as if it were their home. Beds are large and comfy, bathrooms (two!) are clean and well stocked, kitchen is well supplied with lovely (and complete!) sets of utensils, pots & pans. It really does feeling like a home, except it's in Acadia! It's close (a short drive or bike ride) to both Bar Harbor and Acadia entrances, and has a beautiful view from the back porch. Plenty of room for 4 (more if you use the couch). You'll definitely eat in, using the large kitchen and dining room table, or grilling and dining on the back porch. We'll definitely be back!

Home away from home

Our family has travelled extensively throughout the United States and consequently have rented properties via the internet. The Red House is everything that is indicated. It has a very homey atmosphere with personal touches (hand soap in the bathrooms, the quality of the linens and the decor). It was spotless. We did not have to clean dishes/cutlery/fridge/stove before using them. Having the linens supplied is also a great bonus for travellers. We were very close to Acadia National Park which offers so many things to see and do (hiking...) and a sandy beach. We also enjoyed the shops in town and of course enjoying a lobster supper in the cosy Red House. If we ever go back to Bar Harbour we will definitely be staying at 'The Red House' . We had a super holiday. Thank you Peggy.
