Weekend Getaway

mabl Connecticut
Review Submitted: November 22, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
What a great place to spend a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend. Just got back from spending 2 nights with family then friends in this perfectly located quaint cottage. Clean, comfortable, cozy and warm - great place to reconnect with friends with the beach just an 8 minute drive away. Plenty in the area to occupy the time. Owner was great to work with. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking to stay in the area.

The Great Getaway

Review Submitted: September 5, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Look no further, this cottage has all the amenties you come to expect from your own home, yet you can forget all the responsibilities. The decor of this jewel of a cottage is beachy, cool and airy. It has central air and heat, if you ever really need it. There are 2 TV's with cable. The kitchen is open to the living room and the back deck leads down to a great picnic table and gas grill. The front yard also has a table with umbrella for relaxing. The fully stocked kitchen has everything you would need including a full fridge, stove, microwave, toaster oven and coffee pot. The full bath is also in the beach decor which was clean and with a full size tub for the kids after the beach. Located on a cul de sac, makes it nice with children and the playground is well kept. There is also a washer and dryer to clean all of those beach towels. The beach is about 3 minutes away and there are plenty of other attractions and shopping within a very short ride. Once off of route one you are in a new world of peace and relaxation. We will be returning for sure! Maybe even a winter getaway.

cottage review

We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage. Although small, it's well equipped, clean, and the caretaker (who lives in the complex) was very responsive to whatever we needed. If you choose to grill, bring your own barbecue, as the flame on the gas grill is woefully inadequate, and after having our food on there for about an hour (after which it was not even sizzling) we had to resort to the oven, and the entire meal (with the exeption of the fresh corn) went to the dogs (literally).

Perfect Spot To Relax

Review Submitted: August 7, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My whole family has been vacationing in Rhode Island for many years, and this is the first year we stayed in this cottage. It was absolutely lovely! The layout of rooms and furniture is just perfect, giving it a spacious, airy, yet cozy feel. It was clean and neat, and the kitchen area was extremely comfortable and well-stocked. The owner has gone to a lot of trouble to make this a pleasant place for vacationers, from the central air conditioning, the gas grill outside, comfortable sleeping arrangements, to the remote-controlled ceiling fan in the dining area! We highly recommend this vacation cottage, in the warm weather or even in the fall and winter!

Perfect for a beach getaway

Review Submitted: June 14, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
This lovely cottage is perfect for a comfortable, quiet get-away to Westerly and is VERY close to the beaches (driving). The cottage is totally up-to-date and beautifully renovated, with everything a family and/or friends could want to relax and be less than a 5-minute drive from Misquamicut or Westerly Town beaches. Just off Route 1, tucked up and away off a residential street (Old Post Road), there are groceries, take-out meals, coffee & donuts just a walk away.

There are deep woods behind the cottage, with a raised deck and grill off the back. Inside, there is a full kitchen (full-size stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and coffee-maker included) and bathroom (with an excellent shower and lots of hot water). There is a large kitchen table where you can eat, play games, and relax as well as a comfortable living room with television. Below the house is a washer and dryer. Out front is a small round fire pit for making s'mores or for just hanging out around a fire. There is an outdoor table and chairs out front, also. There are two twin beds in one bedroom (with a closet), a queen bed in another bedroom, a day bed in an alcove in the dining area, and a couch in the living room for sleeping. There are dressers in the bedrooms, also. It is all on one floor except the washer and dryer, which require climbing down the back stairs to access.

My adult children, a friend and I stayed here in May of 2009. We truly enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable for us five adults, the owners pleasant to work with, and the location was perfect for going to the beach, Watch Hill, shopping, relaxing and for the short drive to Mystic Aquarium on the rainy day. We discovered a Quaker Burial Ground from the 1800s on the corner of Old Post Road near the cottage.

There is a local food market and nursery at the nearest corner with groceries and excellent home-made meals you can take out. Dunkin Donuts, Tim Horton's for coffee/donuts are within walking distance. A Stop-N-Shop supermarket is just down the road in the other direction.

We look forward to staying here again!

Just got back from vacation at this property. Overall we were very please with the stay. Central air, well appointed kitchen, grill, this cottage is very small but it has been recently updated. It's part of motel that has gone condo so forget any of the reviews good or bad about this locale when it was a motel. We met two owners who are very keen to improve the properties and it shows. It's a quiet street, playground needs some work. Watch out for the bugs, outside.

As for the location, it's right by Route 1, minutes from Westerly, we visited state beaches up and down the coast. You will have to drive everywhere. Next time, when our child is older we will probably rent closer to the beach.
