Summer Getaway

I stayed up at the Evart Cottage with a group of 10 friends. Last year we went to Lake Cumberland, KY but decided to keep the drive shorter this year; which was very nice. The cottage was very beautiful, it at all the amenities and the video games were an added bonus. Located in a very wooded area, so be sure to bring your bug spray. I was very disappointed in the Lake. The Lake was extremely "swamp like" by the dock and you are unable to just sit on the dock and dangle your feet in the water. If you want to go swimming, you have to drive to the beach or take the boat out. Beware, taking the boat out isn't that safe. A few of us took the boat out on our first day to take a tour around the Lake, and ended up hitting a unmarked stump in the water; which was just about 30 yards straight out from the dock. It took us all by surprise as the boat lifted out of the water. The prop on the boat broke, which we replaced the same day. We were later told by some people in town, that that area of the lake is known for that. Tubers and Skiers, be careful!! We spent a couple days tubing down the Muskegon River which was a pretty short drive and a blast and I highly recommend. The River Water was much cleaner. We also enjoyed biking around the lake, which was a great workout (lots of hills).
Owner's Response: Mr H stayed at my home and showed total disrespect to me and my property. He broke the glass table top on the deck broke the umbrella and also broke the prop which he replaced but somehow seemed to think I was in some way responable for fixing it.At check out he made no attempt to clean the home and left over 400 empty beer cnas and bottles along with numerous empty liquor bottles.I refused to return Mr H his deposit so I'm sure that is the reason for his negative comments about my home.Funny how no other guests have ever posted anything about how bad the lake is.
