STARRY NIGHTS

We spent a relaxing, back-to-nature week at this lovely VRBO and plan to make this an annual visit. Setting is truly magnificent with Taos Mountain front and center from every window on the east. We enjoyed watching the sunrise as well as the setting sun's pink glow reflected on the snowy peaks. We did not turn on the television once- just looking out the windows and seeing huge jack rabbits, wily coyotes and the rural New Mexican landscape was enough. We did use the wifi, and it worked great. Weather was cold and windy for two days, but we were snug in the adobe before a roaring fire in the kiva. The home is clean, well equipped, comfy and beautifully decorated with authentic New Mexican details everywhere- Mexican tile, gourds, pictures, including a lovely one painted by Maggie, tin work and fun animal replicas. Maggie and Mary were very efficient, helpful and friendly. Although it was a bit nippy for the hot tub, M&M had thoughtfully readied it for us. Taos is just a few miles away. and we especially enjoyed the Millicent Rogers Museum and gift shop, eating at Orlando's and driving down all the little lanes and roads. We drove the twisty, scenic Rio Grand Canyon road from Pilar, just south of Taos, to the warm springs at Ojo Caliente and then feasted on chicken burritos- best in the US- at El Farolito in little El Rito. Tip: Instead of picking up or dropping off someone at the Albuquerque Airport, use the shuttle which runs from the airport to Taos. This will save you lots of driving. We loved out stay here, and what we will remember most is a sky studded with thousands of stars which put our little world into perspective. Thank you, Maggie and Mary.
