We had a fabulous week-long stay at Snail's Pace! It was perfect - very peaceful, clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed, and easily accessible from Fish Bay Road. We will definitely return next year!

My wife and I just got back from SJ and it was everything we expected plus. I would recommend Snails Pace to anyone. It was a pleasure working with Terri on making reservations, the property manager was there to help. The property is well maintained and the pictures do not really give it is due. We felt like it was our little quite spot on the island and it was still very easy to get into town and enjoy the carnival. When I visit SJ again Snails Pace will always be my first choice.

second time at snails pace - 14th to St. John

Review Submitted: June 11, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
I stayed spring break 2008 and 2009 at Snails Pace. I've come to St. John for many years and by far this is my favorite place to stay. It is in a residential area of the island. If you are looking for loud partying, this isn't the place for you...you'll need to go to town. However, if you are looking for a beautiful picturesque cottage with a third acre of manicured property, you'll love this property. It has a wonderful outdoor shower, and wildlife that visits you often (hermit crabs, lizards, frogs), not to mention Quincy, the neighbors dog, who is always hanging around to keep you company. It's a short drive to Cruz Bay if you want to get loud and a short walk to Fish Bay and Reef Bay. Love the place and will be going again this July for almost three weeks!

We stayed here for 5 nights and had a blast. The cottage is very pretty, spotless, has all amenities (and more!) and appliances and an awesome outdoor shower :-)
The owner was easy to communicate with and the property manager was very helpful. He even plucked a papaya from their tree and handed it to us :-D The neighborhood is extremely quiet. All in all, if you want a get-away-from-it-all cottage but don't want to compromise on creature comforts, this place is great. We are really glad we stayed here!
Owner's Response: A five star guest. Polite and extremely considerate. Left property in immaculate condition. You're always welcome at SP.

I just have to share the beautiful vacation experience I just had at Snails Pace! It was the best trip I have taken and I can not wait to rent this immaculate cottage again. The yard is so beautiful and everything is well cared for. I have vacationed on St John 4 times now and this rental by far is my favorite! The owner was so easy and pleasant to work with and answered all our questions and more. I am so grateful that she is willing to share such a beautiful place for others to enjoy too. It must be hard for her not to want to be there all the time!
After listening to all of the wonderful experiences we had at Snails Pace and visiting all the different beautiful beaches, my sister and her husband have just booked their next vacation at Snails Pace and I can not wait for them to enjoy it as much as we did. A good vacation place is hard to find and I am so glad that I have found Snails Pace. I wish I was still there!!!!!
You should rent a vehicle so that you can travel to all of the different beaches because each beach has so much to offer in itself. There are two different beaches within walking distance to enjoy also, but if you are like us, you will want to enjoy all of the beaches St John has to offer.
Snorkeling was incredible and I would definitely recommend bringing an underwater camera to capture all the colorful fish you will see. Don't forget to bring your sunscreen to enjoy all the tanning too! We thought it was wonderful that Snails Pace had the cooler, beach chairs and floats waiting for us to enjoy every day. Everything was so handy, all we had to do was relax and enjoy.
In the evenings we enjoyed going to Morgan's Mango and
Rhumb Lines for drinks and dinner in town. We also enjoyed being able to cook and eat in at Snails Pace when we were too tired to go out, not to mention it saved us money too, which always helps.
I can't say enough good things about Snails Pace and I just can't wait to go again!

Snail's Pace: everything hoped for and more!!

Although I had driven by this adorable cottage last summer my first view on this visit was even better than I had remembered. My first impression was of the amazing and lovely tropical landscaping surrounding Snails Pace. This combined with the huge (for St John) yard seemed suited to a multi million dollar home rather than a reasonably priced studio. This and the immaculate yellow and white exterior showed from the beginning what care and attention the owner has put here. Unlocking the door did not disappoint. The decor, the attention to every detail, the attractiveness and comfort provided really demonstrate the owner's love and attention. I was totally at home and comfortable in every way. What a pleasure to be in such a quiet and peaceful neighborhood and to have a flat driveway and such easy access to the house. Anyone who is familiar with rentals on St John will understand how rare this is. I accomplished what I hoped for and more, a quiet and restfull getaway in the midst of privacy and beauty. You will not be disappointed with Snail's Pace, believe me!!! I also want to add that the owner was incredibly responsive, friendly and helpful.A wonderful and fairly priced cottage such as this is hard to find anywhere but on the gorgeous and expensive island of St John even rarer.

Difficult negotiations

Review Submitted: February 3, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
A well equipped and furnished cottage in a pretty fenced yard at Fish Bay. Car rental is essential because of the distance of the property to Cruz Bay. Best beaches are a 15 min drive to the north coast.
There are currently 3 houses under construction within 50 yards of the cottage and unfortunately this spoils the ambiance of an otherwise quiet location.
Interactions with the owner regarding booking and visa charges were difficult and customer service non existent. Luckily there is a helpful and cheerful manager - Nancy on the island.
Owner's Response: Guest Rating is a zero. This guest failed to send deposit on initial booking. Failed to inform us of his decision not to keep reservation. Allowed the courtesy to rebook and Visa was rejected. According to "helpful and cheerful" manager guest had no complaints during his stay. Guests before and after confirmed no such noise or construction sites. Two have already rebooked. Difficult Negotiations allude to owners refusal to grant free vacation after stay and risk negative review. Car rental is not neccessary. Cabbies are happy to take the five minute drive to and from town. The world famous North Shore beaches are located in a National Park, so most properties are 15 minutes away. Reef Bay beach is walking distance. Please feel free to contact the owner with any concerns or questions. References from past guests happily provided.

TERRIFIC HOUSE!!

My husband and I spent ten days at Snails Pace. From the minute we pulled in the driveway we fell in love with the house. It's more beautiful than the pictures! It felt like home. The yard is huge and the landscaping is like a tropical paradise. The house is immaculate. The bath towels and bed linens are TOP Quality. It is decorated beautifully. The owner was wonderfully communicative and answered all of our questions. We will be back. Enjoy your stay. You won't be disappointed.

Snails Pace St. John USVI

Snails Pace, St. John USVI

You have to visit Snails Pace, I did, It was so beautiful and peaceful that I have returned twice. As you are on the road leading to the cottage you are imagining what it will really look like even though you have seen the pictures. When you make the last bend and pull into the drive, your jaw will drop. The white picket fence is embraced with the most beautiful pink and purple flowers, and palms that sway gently in the wind. I think my best memory and feeling I felt and have kept with me is how I felt when I first
walked in the door. It is beautiful and has all the comforts you could ask for, but what I remember the most is how my shoulders relaxed, the tension I had carried from everyday life was gone and I felt a wonderful calm embrace me. The cottage has a very peaceful atmosphere, with a warm mix of colors and Caribbean decor.
There is no place like Snails Pace. It's everything you could ask for...If it's peace and quiet you are seeking you will have it. If your looking for fun and adventure you will find it too!
I know if you stay at Snails Pace as I did, you will never have to decide where to stay again. I am already planning my 4th stay there.

Patricia
