Review from Jill in ME: Dear Chris,

Just got back from a week at the house, I'm all ready for work to begin. Drifting off to sleep to the sound of the waves after a day of exploring along the rocks, visiting with the seals, whale watching, or just watching the sun set and the moon rise was just perfect! The memories will keep me until my next vacation. Reserve the third week in July for me for next year.

Thanks again,

Jill

Review from Dee Sordillo in MA: I've re-read my journal - and my memory and my recorded word match. Both my husband and I were speechless on first seeing the location. We arrived in the dead of night and found the rooms warm and very welcoming, immaculate and every comfort item covered. But - the best awaited til morning. The spectacular view takes your breath away Every morning the same vantage point gives a totally different view and feel. My pictures cannot express the beauty. Enjoy - Enjoy - Enjoy Dee Sordillo

P.S

If you are a seafood lover, especially haddock - you'll think you are in heaven.

About Chris

There's nothing quite as satisfying as sharing things you love with those you love. Great places, great food, great times, with great people. That's what Seal Point is all about!

Oh, about me...You can learn more about me at christoy.net. Hope to connect soon!

Chris purchased this house in 2005
Why Chris chose Digby

The land because of where it is...At the end of the mainland. The house was designed to maximize the location. When you sit in the great room, in the dining room, on the deck, or even as you open your eyes in bed, you'll see the ocean...every day. At night you'll see the stars, and if the moon is out you'll see it's reflection on the water...when you look away from the crackling fire in the large fireplace.

What makes this house unique

A gated entry to the private peninsula. Your own seal colony just steps away, private forest paths along the rocky seaside cliffs, a gourmet kitchen, huge dining area that comfortably seats everyone plus a guest or two, an even larger deck, and enough space so everyone can be together or alone as they choose.

A Thanksgiving weekend to remember

5 of 5
Submitted: October 14, 2009 Stayed: October 2009
What an amazing thanksgiving weekend we had at this beautiful home in East Ferry. The weather was wonderful - crisp and sunny, sun sparkling on the churning ocean waters below us. We had a great trip on Sunday exploring on Brier Island. The kitchen was fabulous…and we used it well….lots of great wining and dining. We went through a fair amount of firewood as the fireplace was always blazing away keeping us cozy.

The house was the perfect configuration for our extended family. The kids went crazy when they saw their room (over the garage with the two beds). My daughter (age 5) asked if we could move there and all live together.

Probably the most special part of the weekend was making the short walk from the house to see the seal colony. We found them, on Monday morning, bathing in the sun on their rocks….counted somewhere near 50 and they were singing away in haunting howling voices. My 3 year old son said they sounded like sea ghosts….and that was exactly right. We sat on the point in the sun and watched them for a long time. One of those “memorize this moment” kind of mornings.

So….from our whole clan, a tremendous thank-you. It was one of the best thanksgiving weekends we have ever had and we’ll remember it always. (My pictures of the weekend are stunning….I should send you a few!)

We hope to be back!

My wife and I, my four children (Edmonton, NYC, Uxbridge, Dartmouth), their three spouses, and my 9 grandchildren spent 6 days at this beautiful spacious house. Enjoyed the walk to Seal Point several times - always plenty of seals to watch. View is amazing! Balancing rock a short ferry ride away. This house has all the facilities you may require, never ran out of dishes or glasses. Thanks for a very enjoyable family reunion.

Beautiful

After a drive down a dirt road, we were pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful home overlooking St. Mary's Bay. If you are looking for peace, quiet, and beautiful sunsets this is the place for you. The house is large, nicely appointed and taken care of.
A few mornings the house was surrounded by puffy fog but after driving a few miles (to about Sandy Cove), the fog lifted and we found a sunny day awaiting us. The ferry to Long Island and Balancing Rock is very close by and don't forget to take the next ferry to Brier's Island and a very picturesque lighthouse. There is a very good whale watch outfit here, too. About 30 miles away is Digby and scallops, scallops, scallops. Wonderful!
I highly recommend this home for anyone interested in total relaxation. Whether you use it as a base to travel the area or prop up your feet on the deck and read or watch the tides come in and recede, this is a wonderful home.

Little Piece of Heaven

I planned a surprise 30th birthday party for my wife and 10 of our friends met us at Seal Point House. I found the location completely by accident, online, when I was looking for a place that would accomodate all of us and deliver that "WOW" factor.

In the months leading up to the big day, Chris was a joy to deal with. Every email I sent was responded to and all of my questions welcomed and answered.

It was easy to find and exactly what I was looking for--completely secluded, spacious and impressive! Even with the weather not co-operating, we had lots of fun cooking big meals together, enjoying the acoustics of the high ceilings when playing guitar and watching seals from the deck!

We all felt so rejuvenated at the end of the weekend that we made a pact to visit Seal Point House EVERY year!

Seal Point House At Digby Neck

We, my family and I, stayed at this property on the weekend of March 18 & 19, 2011. Although most of us were familiar with the area the specific information provided as to actually finding the property was excellent. We basically found the property pretty much as described. A large enough house to accomodate our family of 13/14. Our five year old twins slept on air mattresses. Everyone had their own bedroom which was excellent. Everything was found as described concerning the amenities including the Lobster Pot which we put to good use. There were plenty of dishes of every kind, three cofee makers, ice maker and cold water fridge, diswasher, central vac, large dinner table, lots of towels, and the beds were made and mostly very comfortable. We found the property clean and the location excellent. The owner was great to work with and communication was excellent. We certainly would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and neighbors. The view was great and we were able to watch fishing boats ply their trade on the local waters. We only left the property once and that was to cross the three minute ferry to Long Island where we visited the Balancing Rock. We all enjoyed the experience although it was a lot of stairs to descend and then reclimb. Overall a grand experience which we wished we could have stayed for a week and hopefully will be able to enjoy again in the future.

My wedding in this house

5 of 5
Submitted: October 18, 2010 Stayed: October 2010
Words can not express my love for this house. We wanted a small personal wedding so we rented the house for the week and had our wedding party and friends stay with us at the venue. The owner was incredibly helpful and easy to get along with, putting most wedding venues to shame right away. We got married right in the great room in front of the windows. We saw dolphins and seals out every window more days than we didn't. The binoculars were quite useful and the fact that there were three pair meant we had a pair at every window for when someone yelled "They're back!" (Usually me, as I couldn't help staring out the windows constantly as where ever you are in the house, there is a visible window over looking the ocean!). The stocked kitchen made even catering a wedding for 18 a breeze and the central vac made clean up take even less time!
The view is breath taking and when the sun sets you miss it but then there is the beautiful, huge fireplace. With many games and books and surprisingly comfortable seating the great room is perfect for family time after dark. The drawers and drawers of movies would make sure that any remaining time was well filled.
I can't say enough good things about this house. Getting married here was perfect and I can't wait to celebrate anniversaries here in the future. This is truly a piece of paradise.

Great Vacation House

It is a magnificent house with a million dollar view! The house was everything that was promised. The ten of us were all very comfortable for the week. With binoculars you could see the balancing rock across the bay.
A seal colony nearby, several whale watching expeditions close and of course lobster, scallops and crab all the time. Absolutely delicious!
Definitely would recommend this property. Great place to stay while in Nova Scotia.

Beautiful house!

We rented this house for 2 weeks in August for a family reunion. The house is beautiful with a spacious and very well equipped kitchen that makes it fun to cook with and for a large group of people. The ocean is visible from almost every room in the house! The entire house radiates a friendly atmosphere ~ with plenty of games, books and a fireplace for a foggy day.
Every day we saw wildlife right from the porch. Bald eagles, small whales, seals and more! Within a short walk (with plenty of wild raspberries along the trail) we could see a seal colony.
A 15 minute car ride away was "Sandy Beach" where we counted 30 hummingbirds at one time! The beach was fun for the children who didn't mind the cold ocean water! At low tide the beach revealed it's sandbanks where sandcastles were build in no-time.
This house is perfect no matter if you want to explore the outdoors or stay inside and enjoy the comfort in a home away from home!

A multi generational celebration!

In celebration of my Dad's 80th bday, we headed for the Seal Point House, July 18th. It was the first time to Nova Scotia and we basically knew nothing about it!!! The house was a little more remote than we thought, but wow, everything about it was fabulous! We had 4 teenagers that had no access to tv or internet for a week and they actually had fun! The house was extremely comfortable, EXTREMELY clean, and more than enough room for everyone (11 of us). The deck is where we would gather to watch the birds, the seals, the boats, and the beautiful scenery. The first day we were there, a bald eagle flew right over us! We went whale watching at Petit Passage and then had a late lunch...everyone there is awesome and literally 3 mins from the house. We took the ferry to Long Island, did the Balance Rock thing, then to Lavena's Catch which was really, really good. Then to Briar's Island which was my personal favorite...really loved it. We went to Digby, Annapolis Royal, and Bear River (Flight of Fancy is a must if your into art). Did a Winery tour in Bear River, quite interesting and the view from the back is breathtaking. Also, went to Whale's Cove. If you want to meet an interesting, fun person, go and meet Vaughn at the trailer park. He's a rockhound and makes jewelry with his finds as well as being owner of the campground! If you go the opposite way of the campground (if you take the turnoff where it says Whale's Cove, you go straight and at the end of that road you go left or right. Left is stunning view of the water and maybe whales!
To the right is the campground.
Back at the house, the favorite thing to do was to go down the path to Seal Point. It really was breathtaking! And yes there are a lot of seals! Might want to take the Binocs that the house supplies if you want to see them close up. Kids went fishing down at the dock on the other side of the ferry, it's by what appears to be a fishery. They all caught fish! (there are fishing poles at the house..thanks Chris)
Every evening we sat around and talked, played games (lots of them there) did puzzles, etc. Then when the "old" folks went to bed, the kids stayed up and watched movies (huge video selection) with the sensaround sound. Suprisingly, it didn't keep any of us from sleeping very soundly!!! I
The house and the vacation were EXACTLY what we were looking for and people in Nova Scotia have got the be the friendliest people ANYWHERE!

This house more than lived up to our expectations. It was elegant and roomy, clean and well maintained. There was nothing lacking. The kitchen was a cook's delight. The owner provided more amenities than advertised. The location was more remote than we'd expected but that turned out to be a big advantage. However, it was necessary to plan ahead for groceries or other purchases. We were there to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with our four children, three spouses, and six grandchildren. We seldom can all be together so this was a special time for us. With no tv, phone, or internet we were really able to reconnect. We sat on the deck, watched porpoises, read, journaled. We hiked almost daily to Seal Point. A son and son-in-law added birds to their life lists. With short rides, including ferries, we were in easy distance of Balance Rock, Brier Island, Digby, and Annapolis Royal.

We had a family dinner in Digby at Captain's Cabin where the food and service were fine. At Royal Fundy Seafood we bought freshly caught scallops, clams, haddock and made a scrumptious fish chowder back at the house. Some family members took their kids to Upper Clements to see the wildlife park but it no longer existed, the land being used by the amusement park, which adults and kids enjoyed. Fort Anne was interesting; Admiral Digby Museum didn't appeal to us. We had family photos taken at the Amirault Studio and are pleased with the results and the price.

We would readily recommend this to friends and anyone who'd like to get away from the hubbub. We all hated to leave.
