Everything you hope a beach rental will be...

Review Submitted: August 18, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
It's everything you hope a beach rental will be, but never is. So clean you could eat off of the floor, appointed with furniture and furnishings that are both attractive and useful (not the usual family castoffs) and perfectly located on a quiet side street an easy walk to the beach. When Maura says it has everything a group of six would need, believe it. From beach chairs and boogie boards to zip-loc bags and laundry detergent - it is complete. When you're so close to such a great beach it is tempting to just take that short walk to the same spot each day, but don't miss a trip down to the end of the island and the fabulous Sandy Point State Reservation. It is a mostly deserted spot that wraps around the end of the island in into the mouth of the Ipswich River. Wow, what a beach! At low tide in grows from a few hundred feet to more than a quarter mile wide in some spots - exposing magical tidal pools sheltering snails and crabs and shallow salt ponds filled with trapped minnows. When it rains, be sure to visit the c.1690 Spencer-Peirce-Little farm just off island to get an amazing picture of the complete history of the Newbury area as illustrated by one amazing home and farm.

Absolutely Perfect All Around

Review Submitted: November 5, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2008
My family (Husband, 4 year old son, our dog Sam, and myself) stayed here for 4 months last Winter. It was our first experience with New England as we had just relocated to Massachusetts from Philadelphia. Not only was the cottage a warm welcome at first site, but so was the owner Maura. From the very start, even before we signed the rental agreement she was very responsive to all our questions. I would like to say that Maura was very responsive to any problems with the home, but the truth is our stay was nearly perfect. The home is adorned with everything you need and more. Maura of course was just as quick to accommodate if we needed anything, but we had more than we could ask for already. We look back on our long winter stay here with warm thoughts and hope to have a chance to getaway here again soon! Highly recommended!

Exceptional

My husband, daughter, her friend and I had the best vacation EVER in August of 2009. This house is immaculate, the view from the roof top deck fantastic, and location on the southside of PI perfect. Maura has supplied all of the basics-and beyond -including beach towels, boogie boards and laundry detergent. The house is niceley decorated and comfortable-and having the air-conditioning a blessing as we gratefully had one of the hottest weeks of 2009. Plum Island is so special-cannot wait to return. Thank you Maura and Brad-you made our return to the Island we once lived on pure pleasure...

Wonderful vacation home

Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The house is wonderfully decorated, impeccably clean. Loved the proximity to the beach, Bird refuge, as well as a little variety store around the corner. Rooftop deck was the spot to enjoy the sun, the breeze and the many birds of Plum Island.

It was a very relaxing vacation, and Maura was great, making sure there were notes on places to see, or where items were in the house. Towels, sheets, and beach chairs were on site, making our packing so much easier. Not to mention the onsite washer and dryer allowing us to do laundry during the week.

And if it is too relaxing at the cottage, it is just a very short drive to the shops and restaurants of Newburyport.

My husband and I had a great time at the beach house. For us, the location was perfect, as we used it as a starting point for day trips to explore the whole area. The house was very clean, nicely furnished, and well-stocked. There wasn't anything that we needed that wasn't available. And Maura was very pleasant and thorough, ensuring that everything was in place for us to have a great time.

This little home had everything and was set up and decorated so comfortably that it was easy to feel right at home. What's more -- it's a perfect location! We were there only for a long weekend but would certainly go back and stay for longer!!

We spent two marvelous weeks in this comfortable house. Everything you need is supplied. We enjoyed the roof-top deck with its splendid view and its nice little brezze. The beach, which is within a two-minute walk, is very relaxing and quiet. Moreover, the town of Newburyport is lovely and you can easily reach downtown Boston with the commuter train.

Great spot for a family vacation

Loved it !
We spent a great week here with the family. Beach is a 2 minute walk, great views from the roofdeck, easy access to the reservation. The house is VERY well equipped, every kitchen utensil you would need, DVD players and a few DVDs, books, board games, even sand toys for the beach. We are now big fans of Plum Island, a lovely quiet and relaxing vacation spot with easy access to Newburyport for wandering around the shops, dining, icecream etc.
One hour from most of metro Bostn, why haul for hours up into Maine?
Highly recommended.

The cottage and amenities were outstanding. Very easy to use and get used to. The little Westie loved it including the freedom of the enclosed back yard. neighbors were friendly and helpful Local restaurants were outstanding. Plenty of room for four adults. TV was a nice surprise.
The only negative was "no dogs on the beach until Oct. 15". Get on the local government and fine those who do not clean up. Dave
