What a wonderful time we had in Stonington
Our home away from home was the top two floors of a beautifully restored gracious town home. A beautiful staircase with sparkling planked floors leads you up to the two bedrooms and the next staircase to the living area.
The bedrooms were large and each had a fully equipped bathroom. They each had windows that opened -allowing in lots of wonderfully scented summer sea air. The master even had it's own deck. The top floor had a huge deck with great deck furniture and a view over the Stonington harbour and park. The kitchen was modern and very well equipped. The living room had comfy seats and lots of books and games for our enjoyment. The dining area had a wonderful formal colonial feel - perfect for sitting down to a meal at the end of the day.
And what days we had - strolling the quaint village, enjoying the park, having fun at the beach and attending a local fair. The village has several great restaurants, and we particularly enjoyed the "Skipper's Dock" where we spent an entire afternoon enjoying their fine food , drinks, ambience and good company.
We are looking forward to a return one day.

Wonderful Family Vacation!

Jill Anderson Boston, MA
Review Submitted: October 8, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My extended family stayed here for a week in September. Anna, the owner, maintains a beautiful and spotless home.

We had every possible amenity and the kitchen was stocked with condiments and spices. There are toys, board games and videos for all ages, adults and children. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the home is virtually baby/child-proofed - latches on the cabinets and gates to prevent little ones from going down the stairs.

The bedrooms were very spacious and the master bedroom is romantic with its own veranda. We enjoyed grilling on the deck off the living room ... so relaxing to watch the ships roll in while the sun sets! Great fishing - my husband caught a massive striper off a nearby dock. Restaurants, cafes, the beach and cute little shops are all within a 10-minute stroll. The supermarkets is a 5-minute drive. And we spend one day in Mystic, which is only a ten-minute drive.

Anna is very friendly, professional and very easy to work with ... in all, we had a fabulous time, highly recommend this home and can't wait to return!

1. Views from the deck!
2. Spaciousness-was absolutely perfect for our family of 5.
3. The decor was tasteful and the amenities made it feel like a home, not a rental.
4. Ablility to walk into the Borough for coffee, restaurants, shops
5. Taking the self-guided walking tour of the Borough
6. The kitchen/living room/dining open floor plan allowed our family to stay all together in the same room while doing different activities.
7. Loved the master suite and deck and the fun, tasteful curtains
8. The beds and linens were gloriously comfortable!
9. Yummies left in the cupboard and refrigerator.
10. All the details-fresh flowers, beautiful garden
11. Going to the Farmers Market which is right there on the green behind the house.
12. We loved meeting the local fisherman and getting FRESH seafood (lobsters, scallops) from Billy, Joe and Ted
13. We felt very safe here.

The owner, Annabelle, was a terrfic hostess and we became fast friends. We would definitely stay here again and will also recommend it to our friends, too! Staying in this quaint house and village was a wonderful New England experience for our entire family.

We are looking forward to our next stay at this charming, yet spacious and very family friendly home. It is obvious that this is a well loved home that is bright, filled with character and offers great views. We also enjoyed living like a local - walking to shops, restaurants, and the beach.

Lovely and restful

Lovely. From the beautifully appointed windows boxes that greet you, to the garden with it's historic iron gate, then through the house and the many rooms, each with its own character and view.

There is plenty of space for a group, and the services to support you, as well. There is everything you need in the kitchen (we novices successfully cooked lobster!). The bathrooms and beds are very nice. It all feels like you are staying at your friend's house, not a rental property.

Enjoy.

Magical Aerie

NYrenter New York, NY
Review Submitted: June 2, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
We love this house and consider it our home away from home. The living space, a great room with lots of comfortable seating, a large table for festive meals and a wonderful kitchen, is the entire third floor where the views over Stonington's harbor are mesmerizing day or night. The bedrooms on the 1st and second floor each have their own special feel, but all have great mattresses (the owner prides herself on her mattresses) and good bedding. The house is clean and in great condition, considering that it is 200 years old! If good design matters to you, you will love this house - the paint colors and fabrics reveal an artists eye. At the same time, it's completely comfortable and family friendly. We love this house and plan to return as soon as possible.

Quiet, lovely vacation - very enjoyable location

Review Submitted: May 28, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
Lovely, spacious, borough home located in a quaint NE town. Owner provided lovely accommodations . . . and went out of her way to make sure our stay met our expectations. Bedrooms are spacious; living area is furnished to provide great family time. Dined at Noah's and Skipper's Dock, but the kitchen was also adequately outfitted to allow us to prepare several meals ourselves. Decks and patios on all floors allowed for plenty of space for everyone to relax. We had a great week. My only caution is 3 stories means 2 flights of stairs. We had healthy grandparents with us and we were fine . . .but it could be more difficult for others.

We spent a week here summer 2006 and loved it. More like a nice b&b than a regular house rental. Lots of extras like fully stocked kitchen, fresh flowers, beach chairs & towels, beatiful linens, comfortable beds, squeeky clean! Spectacular views and charming in every respect. The owners anticipate all your needs and were very nice and accomodating to deal with. You will love it!

This is truly a special spot! Feels more like a b&b than just a house to rent. First, it's very clean, fully stocked, fresh flowers, beautiful linens, extremely comfortable beds, etc. The views are the best and it's just charming in every respect. The owners even supply beach towels, beach chairs and a little red wagon to haul your beach gear. We won't ever stay anywhere else! The owners were great to deal with to - very nice and accomodating. You won't be disappointed!
