We felt so fortunate to have stumbled upon such a perfect holiday rental. If only we had spent less time in Waikiki and more time here! The house has a really cute retro vibe, and is stocked with everything you could possibly need -- from the beach gear (including snorkels, goggles, flippers, boogie boards, beach chairs, coolers, towels) to the kitchen (pantry items, and everything you could want to cook anything that comes to mind) and even Monopoly, Scrabble, and a huge selection of movies on DVD.
The tropical garden reminded me of Bali, and extends right to the water's edge. There is a gorgeous gazebo and deckchairs where you can relax and watch the sea: when we were there, the whales were out in force and we saw so many of them playing in the ocean. Just beautiful.
The house is equidistant between Waimea Bay (immortilised in the Beach Boys' song "Surfin' USA") and Three Tables Beach. Shark's Cove is only about a 6 minute walk and the snorkelling there is awesome (just make sure to take the reef shoes provided!). Foodland is opposite Shark's Cove. We didn't have a car, and travelled by bus to Hailewa and Turtle Bay -- easy peasy (although the wait for the bus is about 40 minutes, no matter what time you get to the stop!). We walked from the house to Sunset Beach in about an hour (we were dawdling and talking, and looking for chickens) -- a really gorgeous, flat walk. There are bikes at the house which would enable you to get there much faster!
Jeannie and T are really thoughtful, generous, enthusiastic and kind hosts, and are the icing on the cake of a perfect holiday experience.

Don't look any further -- book this house! Jeannie responds really quickly to requests (unlike many of the other houses listed) and just made the whole experience a complete delight.

My family's stay at Dr. T and Jeannie's Waimea Wonder rental house was truly an amazing experience. This was our 4th time to the island of Oahu and the first time we rented this property. There is nothing like having your own piece of paradise while on vacation and then add the gracious hospitality of Dr. T and Jeannie and the result is an amazing Hawaiian getaway! The North Shore is our favorite part of the island and this property is located in the middle of all beaches and activities in the North Shore. We also loved the fact that we had almost our own private beach just three short driveways away (Three Tables). The house was beautifully decorated in Hawaiian decor and was located just behind the main property where Dr. T and Jeannie live. Dr. T and Jeannie have thought of everything and we truly felt at home while on vacation! We also enjoyed the many dolphin and whale sightings just of the coast of the property. We are already planning a return visit! Don't forget to ask Dr. T and Jeannie about the pizza truck! It was the best pizza we ever had!

Much mahalo to Jeannie and T for a wonderful vacation! This was our first time to Hawaii and boy did we luck in!!! Our stay at Waimea Wonder far exceeded all of our expectations. For the duration of our stay we were pinching ourselves for having found such a wonderful place and such warm and friendly hosts. Jeannie and T literally went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We arrived to find a spotless home with such quaint, warm, and thoughtful touches throughout: fresh flower arrangements (from their gardens) around the house, chocolate covered macadamia nuts, surfer board sheets on the kids' beds, selection of relevant movies (i.e. Whale Rider, which was so cool watching after we visited the Polynesian Culture Center cause it all made sense) - there was not a detail overlooked. The kitchen was fully stocked, to the point that we were making chocolate chip cookies almost daily. There were bikes, snorkels, fins, masks, boogie boards, water shoes, a cooler, everything we needed for a day at the beach. Did I mention ping pong on the veranda (my 16-year old son was in heaven). We mentioned looking forward to fresh pineapple and a few hours later, T brought us the most delicious pineapple we have ever tasted. The location is perfect! The rental is surrounded by beach after glorious beach along the North Shore; located beside Waimea Bay and Waimea Valley (waterfall and freshwater spring). We ate at Ted's Bakery most mornings (nice bike ride along the bike path) and did a shaved ice tasting sampling shaved ice from different locations (including Haleiwa) all over the North Shore. As we were vacationing in March, we were kind of worried about the waves on the North Shore before leaving for Hawaii but discovered that there are so many beaches that you can find a beach to swim in within 15 minutes from the house. The North Shore has it all, from challenging waves (surfers) or more child-friendly waves. We ventured into Honolulu one day and did not regret our decision to stay in the "country" one bit. At any point, if we mentioned wanting to do an activity, Jeannie and T hooked us up. Most mornings we sat on Jeannie and T's front lawn watching the whales about 300 feet out - so cool!! To say that we miss the place is a HUGE understatement. Thank you again so very much for making our vacation to Hawaii so wonderful. We miss you and your special place and can't wait to come back again - hopefully winter 2014!! The Greniers

Ok, where do I begin....First thing, our experience was literally perfect. I'm not exaggerating!!! The owners Jeanie and T are such great people. They let us borrow bikes, snorkel gear, other beach supplies and if we wanted we could have BBQed. They even cooked fish tacos one night and insisted that we join them in the yard. Speaking of the yard, it is on the water, right on the famed Waimea Bay surf spot. We were lucky enough to see giant 20-25 foot waves right outside our house.

The unit itself was great, 2 bedrooms, full kitchen, dining room table, huge shower, tv, dvd player and an awesome deck with couches! Everything you would ever need!!!

We don't have 1 single complaint of the Waimea Wonder...could not be happier and I plan on telling everyone I know going to the North Shore to stay there.

We (2 mid-30s couples & a 4yo girl) had a fabulous time staying at Waimea Wonder...hard to even know where to start! The house is darling, filled with fresh flowers & stocked with everything you'd need. The front yard and gazebo are amazing - watching surfers on 20-foot waves at Waimea bay while drinking your morning coffee was a great way to start the day! We saw tons of whales and the sunsets were gorgeous. Great beaches, yummy food trucks & a Foodland are all within easy walking distance. The provided bikes made it so easy & fun to zoom up the bike path to whatever beach we wanted to hang out at that day. (30+ foot waves at Pipeline, anyone?!?! Unbelievable!!) And I can't say enough good things about T & Jeannie; super-nice, genuine people who made sure we had everything we needed. T was a wealth of info on local surf spots & went above and beyond by letting the boys borrow boards from his impressive collection. And their son Micah's Impossibles Pizza Truck is a must-try! We didn't have a single complaint & would 1000% recommend staying here! Thanks for everything Jeannie & T!!

My family arrived at Waimea Wonder on our 10th day of vacation and found it was the perfect place to relax and wind down before heading home. The cottage is lovingly maintained and decorated nicely with Hawaiian art and floral arrangements. The kitchen had everything needed to feel at home (including higher end dinner and flat ware which I loved). The beds were comfortable and the linens and towels were also very nice. The kids (ages 14 and 12) spent a lot of time playing ping pong on the outdoor table...even though there was WiFi!

The ocean view is spectacular. We watched a surfer take on "Impossible", viewed amazing sunsets and star-gazed while listening to the waves break after dark. I even saw a whale breach while waiting my turn for the shower!

This rental is in a great location. A short walk will get you to great beaches and to the grocery store. A short drive or bike ride gets you everywhere else.

"T" was a generous host and was fun to have around. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a review that has been a long time coming - as I spent my wedding weekend here last October. T and Jeannie own a true slice of paradise right in the heart of Waimea Bay. Right from the start we were welcomed and felt right at home, with all of our simple needs catered to. Waimea Wonder is a beautiful house which is tastefully decorated and very cozy. My husband and I and my friends felt very much at home. We especially loved the large deck in the back, and the full kitchen to cook in. The perfect place for relaxation. The view from T and Jeannie's yard is just breathtaking and we saw some of the most beautiful sunsets. It's in the perfect location - just a few minutes walk from groceries and fresh made acai bowls down the road. Three Tables Beach and Waimea Bay are also just a few minutes walk away. As someone who lives here on the island, I always enjoy going up to the north shore for just the day or a weekend getaway. I would highly recommend this to any traveler or local looking for relaxation and comfort, paradise and great hosts.

We were totally satisfied with our stay. The home was as described, clean with fresh floral arrangements around, it is just a short walking distance to Waimea Bay beach, a grocery store is close by, and butcher is very helpful and friendly , it's only a ten minute drive to Haleiwa where varied shopping and restaurants are available. Ask Dr. T for the name of the Mexican restaurant. The Waimea Park and waterfalls are a must see. The beauty of the property will be long remembered as will the owners who were accommadating in every way possible. We found our time there both restful and enjoyable.
