Photos and Description of the Coral Bay vacation house rental
Affordable St John vacation rental with pool for couples or small families

Starlit Escape is an immaculate 1 bedroom 1 bath rental villa with a pool nestled in a private, forested valley on St. John's unspoiled east side. Surrounded by tropical gardens, fruit trees and wildlife, this villa offers the full Island experience. Conveniently located to all that is St John; the palm guarded white sand beaches, the Virgin Islands National Park, the many restaurants and bars, sailing, hiking, shopping and just plain relaxing await. Family owned and managed, the aptly named Starlit Escape is known for its seclusion, peacefulness and natural beauty. No detail has been left out and the owners are always accessible for any need. All amenities are included or will be provided upon request. Starlit Escape accommodates up to 4 guests, making it ideal for couples getaways, or families with small children.

On-site owner's family ensure every detail is perfect for your stay.

About St John, The US Virgin Island's Best: The still-pristine island of St. John is the smallest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands and lies just 3 miles east of St. Thomas and a mile from the nearest of the British Virgin Islands. Nearly two-thirds of the island is national park, with forests and nature trails for your enjoyment. Nature lovers will be amazed by St. John's ecological diversity, from cactus-laden desert bluffs to lush tropical forests singing with tree frogs and painted by orchids.

The true treasure of St. John is its beaches, white with soft, sugary sand and edged by coconut palms, gentle waters, and pristine coral reefs. World-famous Trunk Bay is here, as are spectacular Hawksnest Bay and Cinnamon Bay. Part of the national park land is underwater and home to amazing coral reefs, plant life, tropical fish and turtles.

Beyond the spectacular natural beauty, St. John is a colorful and artistic community filled with unique shops, boutiques and vendors. The shelves are filled with local artwork and distinctive jewelry as well as exotic imports. All of the restaurants are locally owned, each serving up tantalizing flavors and atmosphere for even the most discerning palate. Local seafood such as mahi mahi, Caribbean lobster, conch, wahoo, yellowtail snapper and tuna are always fresh and available.

Getting out on the water is a must for every Virgin Island vacation. Sailing, fishing, scuba diving and powerboat charters are widely available, as well as sea kayak and dinghy rentals. Our favorite is sailing. The fresh tradewinds, calm seas and protected anchorages make the Virgin Islands one of the top sailing destinations in the world. Hundreds of nearby islands await your exploration, all just a short boat ride away. Some of the best snorkeling and diving spots are only accessible by boat.

Many visitors will be captivated by the fascinating history of St. John and the Caribbean. From the Taino, Arawak and Carib Indians, to the days of piracy, to the Danish sugar plantations, St. John has amazing stories of slavery and freedom, rebellion and discovery. Many remnants of those days have been preserved here. Upon your exploration you will find Danish sugar mill ruins, archaeological digs, and petroglyphs from the ancient tribes that first inhabited St. John.

There is so much to do and see on this tiny 27-square-mile mountainous island that many visitors find themselves coming back year after year.

About Jared Warren

After moving to St John in 1999, I knew I was home. A year and half later, I met Angie while she was on vacation in St John. She moved in and we have been married ever since. Our baby Avalene was born here in 2012. Our home has been a passion for us for years. We have rented to over 300 different parties so far and have made life long friends through it. We endeavor to make sure you are comfortable during your stay and get everything you hope for out of the trip. Please always feel free to reach out to us for any reason during your stay be it for something you need at the home or for our years of island knowledge

Jared Warren purchased this house in 2005
Why Jared Warren chose Coral Bay

This home is located in a secret valley in Coral Bay; La La Land. Its hard to find for most and many people who have lived on island for years do not even know it exists. After winding in on the road, when you come up to the house you will understand this oasis in the jungle. The landscaped grounds, and natural surroundings are magical and the home is well thought out. From Coral Bay (5 mintues drive) it is easy to access both the North and South Shore beaches as well as the East End and all of the hiking trails between. This is truly a central location on St John. Because we are owner/operators we have been able to keep our prices down and our service level up for years as many of our repeat guests will tell you.

I recently spent a week at Starlit Escape with 2 of my good friends This was the 2nd time that 2 of us stayed here. We really like this house. The kitchen has new appliances, including a dishwasher we weren't expecting, and everything you need to prepare meals. We had breakfast and dinner at the house each day; we ate on the veranda every night and had breakfast in the Happy Hour Tower. There are so many areas to hang out including the pool, 2 verandas, Happy Hour Tower and common areas inside; each area has tables and chairs - and there are 2 hammocks. The bedrooms are really nice, the beds are comfortable and the decor inviting. This house has it all. The pool is in the sun all day so it is just right in temperature. We enjoyed soaking in the evenings after a day at the beaches. The area the house is in is very quiet and private. The road up is a bit bumpy, making the adventure that much more fun; luckily the house isn't too far from paved road. It was great to be close to both north and south shore beaches. Coral Bay is a great little town with everything you could possibly need, if not the trip to Cruz Bay isn't that bad! The website shows the house as it is, all the pictures looked just like the property. Jared an Angie, the owners, were great to work with both trips, helping when needed, giving us privacy when not. They promptly replied to my e-mails and provided everything we needed or wanted. I am already planning my next trip to Starlit Escape in 2014.

Perfect for Families with Kids

We are a family of four with two boys (ages 7 and 9) and LOVED our stay at Starlit Escape! From playing in the pool, to climbing the HH Tower, to sleeping in the loft, my boys had the time of their lives! Chasing lizards and trying to catch frogs was a big hit, as well!

The house is beautifully decorated and well appointed with new appliances, and we found it to be very clean upon our arrival.

Jared was right there waiting for us as we came into Coral Bay to direct us to the house, which is a bit off the main road (4x4 is highly recommended and part of the fun!). Jared was very helpful in recommending activities, places to eat, etc. and was very responsive to every request.

The best part for my wife and I was the seclusion and privacy that Starlit Escape provided. It was like having our own little private piece of St. John! Even so, it only took about 15 mins. to get to all of the popular beaches on the north shore, so never felt too isolated.

If you are looking for a private and secluded family retreat, yet still want to have all of the amenities (pool, new appliances, WIFI, Cable, etc) that make a vacation convenient and relaxing, then you can't go wrong with Starlit Escape!

The most serene and best value on the island

This is the best value on St. John. The Coral Bay area where this villa is located, is the best part of the whole island. You will be whisked away to true paradise. "Love City" for which Coral Bay is nicknamed is definitively that. A city of love. Now, I know no AC is a big whammy and most are looking for it. You can be assured that you will not be suffering.

The house is cool and has the trade winds blowing through. I am somewhat of a "prissy" woman and was not hot at all during my stay, Actually, felt fantastic. The home is very private off a fun, adventurous, dirt road (will be a fun part of your daily adventure). The grounds are gorgeous. Anyone who is into horticulture or beautiful things..there are palm trees, bird of paradise, coconut palms, papaya, pineapple, banana trees, hibiscus, lush foliage, and flowers all around the property.

The pool was great at the end of the day just to cool off from your many beach hopping/hiking adventures. The happy hour tower. I enjoyed breakfast and a refreshing evening cocktail on every day of my stay. The view!!

I saw hummingbirds, Bananaquits, Pearly eyed thrashers, lizards, And tree frogs while strolling around the property.

Here is the biggest plus of all to everyone interested. The property owners LIVE on the island. If there are ANY issues they will be very helpful to assist. A HUGE plus, where many villas are run by a huge property management firm and the villa owners are residing in the states where they are only looking for profits. You can't get this sort of service ANYWHERE.

The owners own a great deli called, Sam and Jacks on the island. If you look at their reviews and the care they put into their small restaurant (and are #1 in St. John btw, on tripadvisor) that same care and attention you will be receiving while staying at this villa. It is clean, comfortable, in a great location. very family friendly, and quite a comfortable home.

The is the BEST vacation I have ever had, we even spent an entire day just relaxing at the villa. This was my 5th visit To the Virgin Islands and have stayed in many luxury high end villas, but I thought this villa even though no AC, is the most unique and I was VERY surprised that I loved it so much!

Musts: kayak Ecotour, charter a boat for island hopping/snorkeling.

It is even a nice walk to Coral Bay and the Donkey Diner(which we did btw).

It's close to everything yet far away from everything.

It is the TRUE St. John experience.

Recent stay at Starlit Escape

This was our first visit to St. Johns and I must say, we had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and tastefully decorated, the owners have taken special care to insure you are comfortable and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. Our whole intention for this vacation was to relax and enjoy all that St. Johns has to offer - well I can say that we accomplished just that. The house is 'off the beaten path' but not so far that its difficult to get to. It is secluded and peaceful, so families with children of all ages or a group of friends looking for a place to enjoy company (like our group) will be completely comfortable in this quiet setting. If you are looking for a fast paced area with action and night life - this isn't it, you would be better off looking at Cruz Bay. We enjoyed the local flavor of Coral Bay and everyone we talked were friendly and helpful. The Donkey Diner is a must try, as well as Skinny Legs and Lily's, everything you need for your stay is easily obtainable locally. Crabby's is a great place to rent your water sports items and he is very willing to answer any questions you may have. Very nice home (and I say home because it was the feeling we had while we were there), we would definitely consider another stay if the occasion were to arise.

Recent visit to Starlit Escape

Tho our family had a great vacation, as always, on St. John, and we enjoyed our stay at Starlit Escape, there are some features potential renters should know about it. The drive off the paved road to the villa, tho it takes only 6 minutes, is so terrible it would be the deal-breaker for us. The Happy Hour Tower has no view to any water because the trees have grown up and obscured whatever view was once available. Three of the bedrooms are essentially one: there is an open loft above the two lower bedrooms, and only partial walls, so that all bedrooms share the sounds and light (a problem for us as our family included teen-agers). The pluses are that the villa is very comfortable and filled with fresh breezes, bedrooms are a good size, the owner is very helpful, outdoor spaces are nice.

Starlite villa

My family and I loved staying at starlit because it was an amazing place to stay at!Clean, tastefully decorated, very spacious, and so beautifully well-built. The four of us all fit comfortably using just the 2 twins in the loft and the downstairs king bedroom for us.It left two rooms vacant-.for next yrs friends. We really loved having our cocktails up in the happy hr tower overlooking the amazing veiw, while leaving the kids safely below us in the pool. The kitchen had plenty of spices, tools and cookware and felt like as if i were at home, and the tv vcr was easy to work. I prefered the ample library of St Johnian books which kept me intriqued with places to explore, pretty beach cove pictures, and some fun historical lore! We found Jared to be very helpful-even before arriving, especially when he sugested we should get a 4 wheel dr vehicle-which is the only way to go!My kids were never underfoot (like in a hotel),they were happily flitting about the property finding frogs and lizards and or going into the pool.It allowed me the time to pack up the days fixin's with the provided coolers and beach chairs, into the jeep. The kids even prefered us BBqing dinner at home rather than eating out for more time to safely explore the yard. They also looked forward to driving down the road to see donkleys, goats and even baby piglets! The town was quaint and had enough to keep anyone supplied, amused and well fed, but with so many wonderful beaches to explore, we hardly had time to check it all out. Starlit escape was just that, an escape with amazing starlit views! Hope you can enjoy it too!

The owners of this villa were so friendly and helpful with everything we needed. The villa fully met and surpassed our expectations, and had top of the line amenities. The pool was wonderful for a swim after a day of beach hopping, and the happy hour tower was great for a relaxing drink and a view of Coral Bay. The privacy was great and we were often visited by wildlife as we sat on the deck. This is an excellent value and I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay on St John.

The sunny Virgin Islands have inspired us with their beauty for years, and now Angie and myself have the opportunity to share this inspiration with you. Our Villa has been recently renovated to provide even better service and comfort while staying in our home. We would like to invite all of those who seek high quality Caribbean accomodations, at not such high prices. Our goal is to share with you the magic that St. John has to offer; pristine aquamarine bays with white sand beaches, lush tropical landscapes, caribbean nightlife and pure and simple peace and quiet.
