Just lovely!

Dory and Chris and their family are such fantastic hosts, that coupled with such a lovely property in a perfect setting we just didn't want to leave. Our two boys 7 and 10 loved the family room and the beach. The cottage is very well equipped and maintained and we eat there most days and used the Barbecue with the fire on the beach of an evening. Dory and Chris go beyond being great hosts and their whole family were just so friendly and helpful, really going that extra mile to make it a great week for us. We didn't want to leave and will certainly be recommending the property to our friends and family from the UK. I can recommend a walk to Boston Harbor and rental of a boat. We had a fantastic day trip to Seattle and Mount Rainer is breathtaking. Dory and Chris thank you so much!

Already Miss It

Another 5 star for the Cottage by the Sea. Perfect location to meet so many different needs. Tranquility, adventure, beauty, entertainment, the list goes on. The owners have gone above and beyond in making this a wonderful vacation spot, and we were glad to have had the opportunity to experience it for ourselves. The cottage met all of our needs for a family of five with 3 children (oldest 6 years of age). Plenty of beachcombing, water adventure, and fireside dinners. Enjoyed our days in Olympia strolling through the farmers market, hiking in the local parks, getting fresh fish at Boston Harbor. Excellent proximity for a couple of day trips to Portland and Seattle area.

Loved Cottage By Sea

garbear Northwood NH
Review Submitted: June 17, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We found Cottage By The Sea to be an excellent choice for our stay in Olympia. The cottage is charming with plenty of room and lots of sleeping space. It is well stocked with all the necessities of home and utensils/equipment were new and of very good quality. The Cottage was well maintained and everything was in good working order. Dory is a wonderful host, who could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The location was perfect for our needs, on the water with wonderful beachfront amenities and a quick drive to downtown Olympia with easy access to the Peninsula. We had three generations traveling with us and we all loved this property, that says a lot! We would highly recommend the Cottage to our family and friends and know they would love it as much as we did.

Sisters of the Heart Get-a-way

Sister of the Heart Bremerton, Wa. United States
Review Submitted: June 15, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My sister and my friends (sisters of the heart) had our girls spring get away at Cottage by the Sea. It was absolutely perfect. It is furnished so nicely and was very comfortable for our group of 5. It made us smile to see all of Dory's special touches. It has beautiful views of water and nature all around. We saw an eagle and deer right from the living room window. We really wished we had more than a 2 night stay so we could have spent more time on their beautiful beach which is very well furnished with very nice beach furniture, a cabana, firepit and hot tub.
For over 10 years we have rented over 20 vacation homes in the Puget Sound. This was right up there at the top. We all wanted to be upstairs, so I slept in the "kids room" with the pirate decor. It is a darling room, that younger children would love. The kitchen is very well furnished and so fun with all the red small appliances. This is definitely a 5 star vacation rental with all the special touches from the owners. I would love to stay there again. We had fun investigating the shops in downtown Olympia and the Farmers Market is a must!!!

St. Patricks Day Stay

Springbreak Five Bozeman Montana
Review Submitted: April 3, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
What a fantastic place for a vacation. The Cottage is great. It sits on a hillside overlooking Puget Sound with a simple and easy path to the water, cabana and fire pit. The cottage inside is very roomy with two levels for a nice separation of living spaces. Upstairs there is the kitchen, bathroom, single bed bedroom, living/dining room and master bedroom with two queen beds. Downstairs is a family room and a bedroom with a king bed. Also there is access to a washer and dryer.

The owners are very accommodating and we felt went the extra mile to try and make the stay special. The cottage is equipped with plenty of pots/pans/plates and glasses. If you like margaritas there is a cute set for serving. The owners supplied treats among which were popcorn, Cinnamon Swirl bread (which thank goodness we can find locally now that my daughter is addicted), coffee and numerous other items. We enjoyed the electric fireplace and great views from the living room. Since we had kids with us the downstairs with TV and pool table saw plenty of use. It was easy to come and go as we pleased; and outside lighting was great when we got home late.

We used the cottage as a base for the vacation; it took us 1 hour to the Seattle Market; 1 ½ to the ocean and two minutes to the Marina. Since it is at the end of the road there is little to no traffic and it felt very safe and secure for the kids to be running around.

By far our favorite night was our last night when we hosted friends to a crab cookout on the beach. They live in Olympia and had never cooked them on a beach. We had nine guests and even then the cottage didn’t feel crowded.

Again I can’t say how accommodating the owners were in trying to make the evening and in fact our entire stay convenient, tranquil, and hassle free.

We won’t stay anywhere else if we’re in the area and the cottage is available.

Delightful

Review Submitted: March 24, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
My sisters and I stayed at The Cottage by the Sea in March 2009. Everything thing about this place is wonderful. The owner, who lives nearby, was happy to provide whatever we needed and made us feel right at home. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. The latest film DVDs were even provided - we watched "Australia". While we were there we saw a beautiful American Bald Eagle in flight as we stood on the balcony overlooking the sound. On our beach walks we came across a Great Blue Heron. You'll be lucky if you can stay at this cottage.

Review Submitted: October 23, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
If you are looking for a relaxing, comfortable, and picturesque location, you will not want to pass up this gem. The cottage is located on a dead end road overlooking Boston Harbor. The cottage has every amenity that you would imagine or need. The kitchen is well stocked with nice dinnerware, pots and pans, spices, snacks and delightful furnishings. In the bedrooms you will find comfortalbel beds, quietness, and views. If you have younger children there is even a room decorated with whimsical toys, books and a TV to make it a fun place to hang out.

To top off your stay you will have a gracious and hospitable owner named Dory who goes beyond all means to make your stay enjoyable. We stayed here when our son was getting married. It was a great place to come to unwind and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. If you have the opportiunity to visit in the Summer months, the beach, Bar B Q and hot tub would be a heavenly expereience.

The Best place to stay in Washington

Krzys Chicago, IL
Review Submitted: October 15, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
If you are coming to Washington State you have to consider staying at the Cottage by the Sea. Its location in Boston Harbor is perfect for people who want to see Olympic National Park, Pacific Cost, Mount Rainier, Seattle and even North Cascades. The cottage is perfectly located in between all these prime locations which make it so much easier to visit them all within short period of time.
The cottage is also perfect for people with children. It has a charming children bedroom that your kids will surely love.
The owners are wonderful people that will help you with anything you might need and make sure that you have the best vacation experience ever.
Last but not least is the affordability of this place. Considering all the great things that this cottage has to offer it is the number one choice for vacation rental in Washington. We will definitely come here again. Thank you.

Best Family Vacation Home!

MRM37 Carlsbad, CA
Review Submitted: September 14, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Our family stayed at Cottage By The Sea in early September and we couldn't have picked a better spot! Our host and hostess were amazing! So kind and thoughtful, generous and helpful! The scenery and wildlife are awesome! Digging for clams, crabbing, fishing are all at your doorstep. The cottage exceeded our highest expectations! It is so roomy and beautifully decorated! We found everything we needed was thoughtfully provided...couldn't believe how well stocked the cottage was! The surrounding area of Olympia offers something for everyone, our children (age 4 and 7) were easily entertained by the local sights and experiences. We can't wait to return soon!

Perfect Stay with Perfect Hosts

Bopha Middletown, MD
Review Submitted: September 8, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
I stayed in Dory's cottage for two weeks in August along with my 11 year old daughter and 14 year old son. My primary purpose was to find a place to stay that would be close to Olympia so that I could visit my elderly parents on a daily basis. I knew from experience and from the website that Boston Harbor is a lovely place, but I had no idea that the cottage was literally overlooking a beautiful sandy alcove on the harbor. I also had no idea that we would be welcomed with a stocked fridge, a choice of wine, and a basket full of goodies! Finally, I had no idea that Dory and her husband would be as welcoming, kind, and charming as they are. The cottage is an amazing place with more space than I ever imagined for the very reasonable price that we paid. With three bedrooms, a rec room complete with pool table, darts, writing desk etc.. and the sweetest best equipped kitchen anyone could ask for, the accomodations were amazing and so comfortable! I really enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the beautiful waters of the sound in the morning while the sun was rising. We also enjoyed the short walk to the lovely little beach area that Dory shares with guests. There were paddleboats, a firepit, comfortable loungers and total peace. For those who don't know the area, there is a kayak rental place within walking distance and two gorgeous county parks in the area with trails and beach access.
Everything was perfect and I can't wait to stay again in this exceptional cottage hosted by such exceptionally warm and inviting hosts. Thank you so much, Dory!
