Fantastic Vacation Spot

We can't say enough about this house and the owner. This was our first vacation house rental and we would definitely return here. The pictures and the description of the house were very accurate. We found the house to be very comfortable and clean, and there was an overall "good feeling" about the place. The appliances, pool and jacuzzi were all well maintained.
The owner's customer service was excellent. We arrived in the evening during a terrible thunderstorm which washed a bunch of debris in the pool. The next morning we called the owner to just say that we arrived and I happened to mention the debris in the pool. Within an hour, the pool maintenance people were out there and cleaned the pool beautifully. We were definitely impressed and pleased!
The beach is very close! It was an easy and safe walk for us with three small children. We also found the beach to be very pleasant - not crowded at all.
The town of Duck was great, though we spent most of our time at the beach or in the pool at the house. When we did venture into town, we enjoyed the shopping there and the restaurants - specifically the Sunset Grille because of the view of the water (the food was good too).
My husband and I would definitely recommend this property to our friends (we have already), and we hope to return there again soon.
Owner's Response: Thank you to my first time travelers. What a review!! Trying to find that perfect home for a first timer is a daunting task, to say the least. Will the home be as promised, does the owner care about her guests. Are the appliances in good working condition, and how is the house maintained. Are the pictures on the web site up to date, and do they show enough of the house and yard. Will the beach be as close as promised or is there a road between you and the beach. Is the owner fair with security deposits, or do we have to worry the entire time we are there. What does happen if something should break. Many questions for a first time traveler to the Outer Banks. There is nothing wrong with asking an owner if the pics are recent ones, or how old the appliances are, and are they in good working condition.
Owners do care about you and the home they are providing. If it helps to ease your mind, give the owner a call, they expect it. Just as an owner gets the feeling about a future guest, you should also be able to get a good feeling about the owner of your vacation rental home. Lets face it, this is your hard earned money, and for some people this is their only vacation. It is a good thing to take your time and ask questions.
As for the condition of my home, I can not take all the credit. The person that cleans my home is meticulous, and cares to provide me with a perfect cleaning every time, so important for a beach home. Both of my homes are her only homes on Sunday. My landscapers are weekly, and designed the beautiful park in the center of town. My pool man is top notch, and will be there after one phone call. My pool and hot tub are maintained perfectly. Chuck my appliance man, another caring person, and always on top of things. Roger my maintenance man is wonderful, a kind hearted gentleman that knows his stuff. Anything fixed in my home is always done perfectly. I am so grateful for the people who maintain Seaclusion and Mckenna. They know how to communicate and keep me up to date at all times.
As for me... I take your vacation personally, after all, you have paid me for a wonderful vacation, and that's what you will get!
Thank you to my Awesome Guests of the 2009 season.
Karen (owner of Sea clusion)
