Black “Beary” Cabin, an incredible vacation retreat, is located just off of Bear Wallow Mountain Road, near Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Black “Beary” Cabin is a spacious 3 bed/2.5 bath log home that easily sleeps 8 people. A full basement game room provides entertainment for visitors of all ages. The covered front porch and open back porch deck complete with hot tub invites hours of outdoor conversation and the sounds of nature.

Recently constructed, Black “Beary” Cabin is a short scenic drive to many Western North Carolina wonders and attractions including: Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Apple Valley, the Pisgah National Forest, the Biltmore Mansion and Asheville, to name a few. The altitude is approximately 2900 feet above sea level, which makes for a short climb up, however not too daunting for low landers. The town of Hendersonville is nearby and boasts many fine restaurants, shopping, antiques, parks, and street concerts.

I was a little skeptical about renting a place we had never seen from someone we had never met, particularly with having to pay the full cost so far in advance. I am glad that I took the chance because the cabin and the location were all that I hoped for. We had a great time in the game room and really enjoyed the outdoor hot but. Actually, the cabin and surroundings were perfect and exactly as advertised. I hope to rent from you again next year. :)

We returned yesterday from a most wonderful stay in the NC mountains....perfect weather, glorious fall colors, not much traffic anywhere.....loved it! Drove back via the Smokies....I've never seen such RED before....so many sugar maples at their peak....what a treat! The drought scared us into thinking there wouldn't be any color ANY where, so we were thrilled!

Had no problems at all, other than it took some time to figure out the fireplace….We really enjoyed the fact that it was “off the beaten path” and up a solitary winding mountain road after a scenic drive.

Pleasant Surprise!

We found the cabin to be much nicer that what we expected. Everything was very clean and the bed in the master bedroom had a feather bed feel to it. Very nice touch. The hot tub on the private deck was also a nice extra. Location is close to downtown Hendersonville, as well as, Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Easy to reach from I-26! Certainly will go back and would not hestiate to recommned this cabin to anyone looking for a vacation, or just a short getaway. Just can't say enough good things about it.

What an incredible place!...We took our two kids (14 and 13) here to the Blackbeary cabin for a few days of R&R, and cannot say enough positive things about it. The cabin was spotless, very peaceful and well stocked with everything we needed. We spent one day at the Biltmore Estate, and another riding horses at nearby Cedar Creek Stables. The kids (and us) enjoyed the Ping Pong table and the fire pit...we will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful time at Black Beary Cabin! From the awesome hot tub to the cozy fireplace, the cabin was very spacious for two couples and our two little ones. We loved the firepit on the cold fall nights. We highly recommend visiting Downtown Hendersonville (especially for shopping-Mast General Store/Old Town Market and eating at Flight/Hannah Flannigan's). We've been visiting the Hendersonville areas for a few years now and love the quaint area. You won't be disappointed with the Black Beary Cabin...far away enough from town to feel you are out in your own world. :)

Clean, Peaceful Retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Black Beary Cabin. It was spacious, updated and cozy! We appreciated it being dog-friendly. The gas fireplace made the living room/dining room/kitchen area extra toasty on the winter weekend we stayed. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were big. Overall - a great place to launch our explorations of Hendersonville, Chimney Rock and Asheville/Biltmore Estate. Downtown Hendersonville was a fun surprise - great shops and restaurants, not crowded, unique. Thanks to the owner for making our arrangements very easy!

A Sanctuary

For anyone that needs to get away from it all and be in extremely clean, well-appointed, comfortable accomodations, this is the cabin for you! The description of the cabin was perfectly accurate. Myself, my husband, adult daughter and 2 Golden Retrievers (Toby and Jacqui), all had a wonderful time relaxing in the cabin, hot tub (only the humans) and hiking around the cabin. It was also was a very convenient drive to the fun places we went: Chimney Rock, historic downtown Hendersonville, Asheville, multiple farm stands and apple orchards. The area is very dog-friendly so the dogs came everywhere I just mentioned. Richard (the owner) was a pleasure to work with. He helped make our very last minute vacation a reality. We travel to NC at least once a year and we would definately call Richard first and be very content to stay in Black Beary Cabin again!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Black Beary Cabin. It was extremely clean and we had the most enjoyable time!! The game room was perfect and the hot tub was amazing. It is highly recommended that everyone visits the Black Beary Cabin... it's an amazing experience you will never forget.

Private, clean, as pictured and described!

Happy to have arrived to a Rental Property that is as pictured and described! The gravel road was an easy wind up through the forest and there was an easy steep paved driveway to the cabin. We had no snow and the road was well maintained with room to corner and drive our large SUV. The Cabin was CLEAN, in order, as described and as pictured! Our family of 8 enjoyed the stay with plenty of room and our children ranging from 3-16 had plenty to do with the game room! We found everything we needed for cooking, cleaning, and enjoying the cabin, hot tub and fire pit!

When not enjoying the cabin we visited the Biltmore, took a "Polar Express" train ride, purchased apples from a local orchard store, and mined indoors in Hendersonville! We would return and also have recommended this property to friends and family.

As vacation home renters we appreciate it greatly when arriving to rentals that are as pictured and described.

Secluded!

We enjoyed this cabin because it was remotely located in the woods!
NOT biker friendly because the long and rough 1 1/2 mile road up to the cabin is NOT
paved and the the driveway (which is paved) is quite STEEP.
VERY clean and comfortable but lacking adequate furniture in the living room.
(No WI- FI... Internet only on the house computer located in basement)
Beautiful cabin and area for peace and quiet! Great place to escape from your every day stresses
of work and noise.

Very Nice property, clean, nice location

Description of property was accurate. The owner was easy to work with and clearly stated price and expectations in the contract. The property was centrally located to Lake Lure, Asheville, Cherokee and many other sites. There were minor maintenance issues (light bulbs out, bedroom door that would not shut or lock, floor vent not secured), but overall the property was nice and clean. Owner states in contract that chains or 4-wheel drive should be used during winter. If you are not accustomed to gravel mountain roads that are steep and winding, you may not be comfortable coming back to the cabin at night. The cabin fit our family well and we enjoyed the variety of relaxing opportunities available (cable tv, game room, rocking chairs on porch, hot tub, sounds of breeze and creek).
