Great trip to D.C.

john316 Denver, CO
Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
I was taking my family to D.C. and we didn't want to stay in a hotel. We found this unit and from the pictures it looked very nice. After staying here I can report that the unit is as advertised. We loved the proximity to Union Station and Capitol Hill and we loved the neiborhood. Only downside was no TV's in bedrooms, but we were so tierd from sight seeing every day we feel asleep pretty quick.

The kitchen makes you feel at home, we used it every day.

I plan to rent this unit again if it's available.

Totally lives up to descriptiion. Location, location, location! Great neighborhood. Convenient (2 blocks) for all transportation: Trains, taxis, tours, buses, metro. Great Italian restaurant on corner plus those in Union Station. Easy to contact owner for information, plus very friendly! Well worth the cost. Will highly recommend to friends and would definitely stay there again.

Comfrortable Luxury

usaexplorer San Francisoco, CA
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
These pictures are true to this gorgeous house. The place has been done up beautifully with opulent tile and stone in warm colors. The kitchen is 'to die for', large and elegant with room for a small army of chefs. The back patio, off the kitchen, could benefit from an outdoor table setting (not provided as at 4 Jul 09), it would be a great spot for breakfast or dinner. The living room is cozy for a party of 4 adults. The bedrooms were lovely, roomy, and nicely separated.
The location was great - being only a few minutes from Union Station and perhaps a 10-15 minute walk to Capitol Hill and the Mall. A local store on the corner of the block is open till late (10pm) and has many essential supplies including milk, coffee, wine. There were some restaurants within close walking distance on Massachusetts Ave which looked nice at night but we didn't try. Charlie Palmers on Louisiana was really good, but a little pricey (but worth it for a nice night out).
This property is gorgeous and great if you want to good access to the Mall and luxurious surrounds. I don't know how good it would be for small children due to the stairs and heavy glass coffee table.
Highly recommend it. Our only major gripe was the Air Conditioning which seemed excessively noisy to us, it would get very annoying in an extended stay unless you were used to that. Oh, and there was no shower soap, we used the shampoo which seemed to work well enough and smelled nice too.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind remarks. We are constantly working on making our gussets more comfortable and your comments counts.

You notified us that the air conditioning is making a noise on your last day with us and it takes a couple of days to send a crew to check it out. Our understanding from the maintenance company is when the air-conditioning is kept for long ours under tempters of 65 degree the unit start making a noise. We will put a note above the thermostat to take care of that issue for our next gusts. For health reasons instead of solid soap, we use liquid soap (body wash) but I will make sure that we use a different brands so it eliminates any confusions.

Again, thank you for choosing us as your home away from home and we hope to see you on your future trips.

Would come again

The place was true as pictured, well maintained, clean. Neighborhood felt safe- parts were very charming to walk through. The location was superb: around the corner from bustling Union Station and strolls ranging from quick <5 min to healthier 15 min+ to nearby landmarks (Capitol Hill, Botanical Gardens, National Mall and Smithsonian Museums). Every morning we got coffee at the cafe on the corner just 3 doors down. Convenience of keyless entry and washer/dryer were much appreciated. After being exhausted from sightseeing all day, it was so nice to retreat to a place that felt like home with enough space for everyone. Jacuzzi tub for one of our guests helped soothe tired feet. One night we even rented the Zipcar (located steps away across the street) to try (but to no avail) to see the lighted monuments at night. Though sometimes it was hard to reach the owner via email, she was quick to get in touch during our stay and very pleasant. I have already recommended this place to friends and families visiting DC if they're in a big group (4+)

I cannot think of a more perfect location to stay and sight see in D.C. The house is exactly as pictures show - clean, beautiful and very functional. It is located in a wonderful neighborhood, very safe and very close to a few small grocery stores and restaurants. Kitchen is well-equipped for staying in and cooking a meal. Thanks for a great stay!

Great Spring Break

Spring Break 2009 Chicago, IL
Review Submitted: April 14, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
The home was exactly as stated. All the great things that were said about it are true. The home is spacious and clean. Owner is attentive and friendly with good communication. The home is 2 blocks to Union Station which is filled with shopping and numerous eateries. Being so close to the Metro was truly a big plus. We never needed a car and the Capitol was only 6 blocks away. The coffee shop on the corner was great to have. Will definitely stay here again when we return to DC!
Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you on you next visit. We give a $100 off to our repeat customers.

Christmas in Washington

Egretta Columbia,SC
Review Submitted: January 10, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
Christmas was a wonderful time to visit our nation’s capitol and your beautiful town home was the perfect place to reside in with our family of five. The home is a lovely older structure blending in with the neighborhood and has been recently renovated from top to bottom. Several evenings we dined at home and the kitchen was a dream to cook in. Christmas dinner was a total family effort and we found too many cooks did not spoil the broth (when there is enough room). The little comer market at the end of the block was great having the extras we needed and we were comfortable walking in the neighborhood to the market.

Union station is an easy walk of less than 10 min. You can access shopping, restaurants and, of course, the metro. Take a 15-minute walk to the brand new Capital Visitors Center and plan your visit while in Washington. The Library of Congress is just a few minutes walk from there.

We appreciate the days we stayed in your beautiful home and will recommend it to friends planning trips to your area. When we venture back to visit our daughter we will check to see if it is available once again. Thank you for your hospitality.
Owner's Response: We are so happy that you chose to spend your holiday with us and look forward to hopefully see you again this year. Have a blessed year.

Family Vacation was a HUGE success!

This modern, cozy, elegant, and comfy rowhouse was more than I could have imagined from the pictures. We loved every detail in it, and felt very well-taken care of from the moment we arrived. We were within a block and a half from the metro at Union, coffee shop on one corner, small grocery on the other corner, 15-minute walk from the Library of Congress...what could be better? Quiet, safe, super comfortable beds, and we all slept well after playing hard all day! Our family of 4 loved this property and would recommend it to others who are looking for a dream vacation in DC! Plus, the owners checked on us to make sure we had what we needed, and are extremely nice and hospitable people! We would definitely stay there again if we get the chance to return someday.
Owner's Response: We are so glad that you chose our house as your vacation home and we do hope to see you again on your future visits. We also would like to thank you for leaving our house immaculate before your departure!
