it has been a year since we stayed here but since I'm looking to go to Sayulita again thought I would check this out.
while the place was cute and offered good value it was not up to snuff!
the biggest issue was the exterior gate was broken and had been for a while.with full glass windows all around I did no feel safe at all.
the house was dusty (down) and missing things like coffee filters, the so called dvd . there were plastic coffee cups down so we had to raid upstairs. the panini grill was rusted and I could go on.
the hammock was broken up stairs and missing downstairs, there was no bbq as advertised either.
Isreal was impossible to get a hold of and finally came on our 3rd day there to remedy some of the shortfalls.
we are not overly fussy, we travel alot and stay in basic places but found this ad very misleading at the time.
I can only hope things have improved.
Owner's Response: Ah yes the above review was written many months later than their stay but I remember the situation well. As some of you may know the village of Sayulita was severely damaged by heavy tropical rains in Sept of 2010 – that is what took out the bridge, displaced some 30 families and gave us our severely leaning restrooms by the river. Casa Jungla also suffered some $12,000(USD) in damages to home and property when a neighbor's retaining wall collapsed during the storms. The short of this is we were promised by local contractors that it would be no problem ('no hay problema') to have repairs and cleanup completed in time for the above renters. Didn't happen; and unfortunately our property manager had to be away due to family circumstances on the two days before the renter's arrival; so things didn't get done – a thorough cleaning to clear construction dust, new hammocks, having all the correct items/utensils in the correct units. My apologies to all, but everything is corrected now.
