Rye Beach Fall Getaway

Fersatz Amherst, NH, USA
Review Submitted: November 7, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We had recently moved to New Hampshire and had yet to visit this area. What drew us to the property was the photos showing wonderful views of the ocean from every window and the reality did not disappoint. We spent a delightful week in early October and the weather was perfect - sunny days and sweater nights. The Rye area is beautiful and very understated, but restaurants and Portsmouth are quite close. The house is fully equiped and so it is not necessary to bring anything but personal items. The owner was very helpful and made us feel right at home. A new deck on the front is a real treat and it was truly a relaxing experience. Just one caution - we were planning on getting some work done while there and while the highspeed internet service is excellent, the cellphone service is extremely limited on ATT or Verizon, necessitating driving a few miles to be able to use them. For most vacationers, that would not be an issue and there is a phone in the house for local calls or incoming
calls. But the overall experience was just too good to miss.

We would certainly return.

We just returned from a week's stay and can't wait to go back!
This house has everything - green, grassy front lawn and large deck overlooking the water for sitting, sunning and watching the boats go by; a sandy beach just a short walk away, and convenient locale to hiking trails, downtown Portsmouth as well as scenic drive along route 1A to Hampton. There are ocean views from every room. We were in awe at the sunsets we caught from the large kitchen windows! The house is well maintained, very comfortable and clean and has all the amenities you could need. There is almost no reason to leave the house!

Everything we anticipated and MORE...

All the other descriptive reviews were right on the mark. While we could have wished for a bit nicer weather, we experienced a fabulous sunrise from the master suite, enjoyed the sounds of the ocean which lulled us to sleep and delighted in the antics of the chipmunks and beautiful birds that competed for food at the feeder outside one of many picturesque windows facing the ocean.

The house was perfect for our small family reunion (with adult children arriving in Boston) providing comfortable accommodations for each of us. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to enjoy a lobster feast and gas grill to add "turf" to many of the "surf'" choices available at a local seafood store (which they'll cook for you). Tre' bon!
Portsmouth, Kittery ME, Ogonquit ME, and Boston and more- all easily accessible from Rye.

Charles was the consummate host...making sure everything was in order and obvious his attention to detail as the house was immaculate on our arrival.

We certainly would recommend this to a friend and intend to return there ourselves in the future.
Thanks Charles we throughly enjoyed our stay at your comfortable home.
P.S. We loved the fact that our cell phones had no service at the house. The wifi kept us up to date while still providing solitude with no cell phone interruptions! LOL

A Special Place

Duff Stratham, NH USA
Review Submitted: June 19, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
My family rented this beachhouse this spring for 2 months. It is a very special place overlooking the rocky shoreline just north of Wallis Sands Beach. The house, layout, amenities were all as advertised on the site. The property was impecably clean and well-maintained. The owner, Charles Hoyte, was always available and immediately responsive to any request while at the same time leaving us to enjoy this tranquil, majestic spot to ourselves. I would recommend this house to anyone, including friends and family. My teenage children already want to go back. Situated just north of Wallis Sands on Ocean Blvd it is a much quieter stretch of this wonderful shoreline than the next 7 miles of coastline to the south. Our favorite actities were taking the short walk with our dogs to Wallis Sands so they could romp in the surf, walking the peaceful trails of Odiorne State Park just one mile north and relaxing to a fine grilled meal on the deck looking out to the Isle of Shoals. A simply wonderful vacation spot. I highly recommend this house and location to anyone wanting to experience nature's beauty on the coast of New Hamshire.

You'll never want to stay anywhere else.....

Wow!!! Did I mention WOW? What a beautiful house in a idyllic setting with the Isles of Shoals right out the window. With the beach just a hop across the street, it lent well for hiking, beachcombing and photography.

Inside this gorgeous house held everything we needed and more. Elegantly embellished by Architect Charlie, his eclectic mix of home accouterment was pleasing to the eye as well as interesting to the mind. Fine art and collectibles from around the world grace the walls and nooks. As you amble up the spiral staircase, the arced wall, donned with dark tongue and groove has slot windows that hold more charming items of interest.

Now to the master bedroom suite. The bed, the bed, the bed!!!! Huge!!! Did I mention huge?! Egyptian cotton and oh so comfy, to die for mattress. I dreamt I was an angel sleeping in the clouds....awwwww. Other features of the suite include a walk-in closet, a sitting area, and a spacious bathroom with 2 vanity areas. It was more than pleasant to wake up to the amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean and that stunning and comfy suite.

Downstairs is just as comfortable. As one that loves to cook and bake, my hang-out spot was the kitchen and dining area. Well appointed, the galley made for a hassle free soare in culinary fun.

Charles is a gracious host and helpful in any need you might have. As a seasoned traveler himself, he knows what we as travelers, need, and are looking for.

The price is unheard of, for such amazing accommodations. I will be staying here any chance I get. Rye is unique, peaceful and idyllic, as well as the very first settlement in New Hampshire. You can almost see those ships of old sailing through the mist....

Wonderful Vacation House!

Pug Mommy Staten Island, NY
Review Submitted: August 3, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Lovely, well-maintained, tastefully decorated house right across the road from the rugged coastline. Loved the master suite, extremely comfortable king-sized bed and top-quality linens and appreciated the little extras in the kitchen (good quality coffee maker, good range of pots/pans, wide-slot toaster, salad spinner, etc.).

At low tide there's a sandy beach to the right of the house over the rocks as you're facing the ocean which we preferred to driving a few minutes south to Wallis Sands. Very convenient location just 15 minutes from Portsmouth and 25 minutes from the Kittery outlet malls with plenty more to do and see in the area and all that fabulous seafood - definitely check out Petey's as another reviewer recommended!

My wife and I highly recommend this house, it was our second stay at this magnificant property and we'll be back for a third. The house is well built , clean, decorated with unique art work through out, has plenty of room, comfortable bed and the views are simply majestic. Waking up to the sights and sounds of the Atlantic ocean makes for a very relaxing vacation in addition the close proximity of several beaches, Portsmouth , Kittery and several fine seafood joints and your visit to here will no doubt be very enjoyable. Charles is fine friendly host and is constantly improving this place ever so subtlety with a sweet deck the most recent addition.

Fantastic Place for a Vacation!

Review Submitted: June 23, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This house is spectacular! Beautiful ocean views, immaculate, lots of room and beautifully decorated. The master bedroom has a lovely king size sleigh bed which makes a night's sleep feel like sleeping on a cloud.
The house is conveniently located, close to many attractions; downtown Portsmouth is only 20 minutes away, and the Kittery Outlets in Maine is only a 30 minute drive.
I would highly recommend this property as a wonderful relaxing place to spend vacation time. You won't be disappointed

We enjoyed a beautiful stay on Ocean Boulevard. The home was very clean and is exceptionally built. Windows at every turn give a constant view of the water.

The view of the ocean from the master bedroom is breathtaking! The outdoor jacuzzi is wonderful, especially for cold nights.

For local fare, we thoroughly enjoyed the seafood at Petey's which is just short distance away on Ocean Boulevard. Portsmouth is also a 'must-see' for the local merchants and pub-fare.

Charles is an excellent & attentive host. He was also helpful with recognizing the local attractions. We will certainly visit this property again.
