Wonderful place to stay

We just spent 5 nights at The Irons with our twin 18 mos. old children, and we had a wonderful time. There is a gate at the top of the stairs, and the house was child friendly with an open, airy plan which allows you to be in the kitchen and see everything that's happening. We moved a chair in front of the TV and stereo system so little fingers didn't find their way to the knobs. There is also an electric gate at the driveway that we could close so the little ones could march around in the oversized area. The small heated pool was a BIG HIT as was the convenient location to many parks and Austin fun. We will definitely plan to stay here on all future trips to Austin. Rusty took terrific care of us and even stocked the fridge with some special foods prior to our arrival - a huge convenience and time saver for us. (If you don't have kiddies, you can take advantage of the proximity to all the music venues, shopping and restaurants on S. Congress...one day we'll get there again!)

The Irons

We are probably not your average tenants as we were a longer term rental at The Irons - 4 months. We came from overseas for one of our kid's leg surgery and recovery/rehab. The Irons was fantastic! Rusty was a wonderful hostess, and made us and the kids feel right at home from the beginning. The property was perfect for us - pet friendly, a mid-size pool (nicely fenced in so the little ones don't stray near), wonderful beds and baths... The Irons is located in the heart of Austin - but is on enough land that you feel like you are in a little oasis. Extraordinary. Two thumbs way way up!

This was such an enjoyable trip. The house was beyond clean and organized and accommodated our entire party comfortably. We were able to enjoy Austin to its fullest. From barbecuing to relaxing in the hot spa it was a trip filled with endless fun. I would definitely recommend the irons over a hotel because it allows privacy and togetherness that you cannot get at any hotel. We will definitely be back!

Better than a home away from home!

Our Austin family vacation was fabulous, in part due to the wonderful location, surroundings, and amenities at the Irons Austin vacation home. Even though the pictures give a very good representation of the home, you really must experience it to believe it.
The home is very inviting, and beautifully decorated with comforable beds and scrumptious linens all creating an atmosphere of relaxed elegance. We were proud to invite friends over to relax with our extended family in this inviting atmosphere rather than in a restaurant or hotel setting.
Rusty provided us with excellent Southern Hospitality, making sure that we had everything we needed to make our stay just perfect. This home exceeded our very high expectations and we will certainly plan to return again and again.

It would be impossible for the Irons to be any more comfortable. Recovering from health issues I stayed at the Irons and could not have felt any more at home from the linens to the music on the ipod every detail has been meticulously accounted for. I particularly enjoyed the reading library as well as DVD and CD collection. I am very sad to have to pack up and leave. Thanks Rusty for a fabulous stay!

We stayed here for three nights and loved it. The listing is very accurate although I would add how creative and original it is. The architecture and finishes are so much warmer and artistic than any other vacation house I've seen. Every detail has been addressed. I appreciated the selection of CDs by notable Austin musicians, the aswesome travel books, and local spices in the kitchen. The location is great as South Austin is one of my favorite, hip areas of town. It's blocks away from many of the Austin's hidden gems along with some of the best nature spots.

This home was the perfect place to stay during a girly weekend out of town with friends. It was not just a home away from home. It was an amazing, modern, extremely well decorated dream home away from home.
We were literally minutes away from downtown shopping and dining. Honestly though I just wanted to spend the entire weekend laying around the house.
I knew the place would be amazing from the photos but it is all the extra little things that I wasn't expecting that made the home absolute perfection. (fresh flowers in the rooms, a stocked fridge with sinful chocolate deserts, great music to listen to, wireless internet, the most incredible shower that I have ever seen)
Our weekend wouldn't have been the same without this house. I can't wait to go back!

Great photo shoot location w/5 Star accomodation

Review Submitted: November 13, 2006 Date of Stay: June 2006
Five stars for all except accuracy of photos. She needs a good photographer. Photos on listing don't begin to reveal the comfort, convenience or privacy of this home.

Needed Austin location for commercial photo shoot.

Found perfect site with 5 Star Hotel accomodation for me and staff of five. Fully stocked kitchen, flat screen tv's and wireless high speed internet. Perfect for working long hours and impressing clients. Plenty of room for entertaining indoors and out. Complete service.
