Gorgeous location and property

H Gang Lancaster, PA
Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The description(s) of the property were spot on for this listing! You really just kind of show up. Everything is provided and you don't even need to spend time cleaning when you leave! The house was very clean and the owners are very friendly! We even bumped into them once or twice in town.

The location was beautiful. The view from the decks were fantastic. We got to watch several schooners past the breakwater/lighthouse and into the harbor. Every morning there were spectacular photos to be taken whether the weather was sunny (which it was most of the time) or foggy (which it was one or two mornings).

We were able to walk into town for the Lobster Festival or take drives up to Acadia or down the coast to Pemaquid/Bath/Wiscasset. There are a bunch of nice restaurants in the downtown Rockland area. You can walk down the waterfront to all of them.

Driving to the other attractions in the Midcoast area aren't that bad. You can be in Bath or Pemaquid in an hour or so, Camden in less than 15 minutes. Even Acadia wasn't that bad a drive-two hours or less, but worth every minute of the drive. The views are spectacular. Hit Fort Knox in Prospect while you are driving to Acadia.

The pool was used every day by our kids. Towels were provided at the house so you didn't even need to pack them! Plus, we pulled out the bikes that are provided and took a ride or two.

There is a nice little beach close by where you can go hunting for rocks or sea glass. The boys found a nice bed of hermit crabs and spent part of an afternoon seeing how many they could find. They found a lot!

The folks in town were very friendly and answered many questions. They didn't just treat you like a tourist or someone that was passing through.

We will be going back. Rockland is in a beautiful location. You can do tons of stuff with not too much driving. The house is great to come back to every night. Plenty of room to spread out. We played foosball every day and had some pretty vicious games!

To close, I don't think that there are too many locations where one can lie in their bed and look out the window to an active lighthouse! This is one of those spots. Well worth the rental!

Our party enjoyed the home immensely. It was very upscale, not a typical rental property. The amenities, cleanliness, and comfort of the home were extraordinary.

We stayed for a week of near perfection for a family reunion. The spaciousness was wonderful - perfect for entertaining and hosting our family. Loved the somewhat out of the way, yet close to everything location!
Owner's Response: We are so happy your family enjoyed the house! Our family loves it too! Thank you, Susan

Sister's Annual Vacation

This was a wonderful and unique rental property! We loved the idea to convert this warehouse into a very roomy rental. I'm sorry to disagree with the other reviewer who said the bed in the master bedroom was uncomfortable. I thought it was quite comfortable and usually have a hard time sleeping ~ but slept like a baby! Rockland is such a quaint town, we loved it, as well as Camden, Belfast and Bar Harbor! As far as the seating was concerned, yes, there was only a couch and a chair in the living room, but it wasn't a big deal to move another chair into the living room and we had plenty of seating.

I also did not notice anything wrong with the floor.

We had a little mixup at first ~ I forgot to bring the rental info with me. I called Susan on her cell phone, left a message and within minutes she called me right back and was so helpful!!! Thank you again, Susan!!

Unfortunately, it rained while we were there and we only used the deck once, but it was truly breathtaking looking at the boats on the harbor!!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Maine!

Dream Vacation Home

Contented visitors Doylestown, PA
Review Submitted: October 1, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Our expectations were high upon our arrival at a new vacation destination. The rental truly exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, clean and the viewing decks were exceptional. We enjoyed watching the ferry come and go from nearby islands. We could walk to town as well as to a park nearby. Rockland is a great small town with a working harbor. We would certainly recommend this property to anyone with a large family or visiting guests. This warehouse conversion was truly unique and the location was great!

Wonderful Location

Maine Enthusiast Plano, TX
Review Submitted: August 19, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Overall we were very happy with our experience at this rental. There was plenty of space for everyone and the kitchen was well supplied with the equipment needed to cook for 8 people. The property was clean and overall comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who has a large group that wants space to spread out.

There were a couple things that were disappointing. There was damage to the floor as you came in as a result of some water damage and it was a problem only because it was right where you entered the house and before you went up the stairs. We had a number of close calls with people almost falling over the hump in the floor. One of the guests were rather unsure on their feet and we were always concerned that would fall.

The king size bed in the master bedroom is very old and uncomfortable and really needs to be replaced, particularly given the price of the rental. There is very limited space for storage in the bedrooms so the ability to unpack in all the rooms was rather limited.

The living room could stand more furniture only because it seems to be where everyone gathered and there is really only comfortable seating for four people in the living room. We were able to bring one of the arm chairs from the bonus room to provide one additional seat.

Those were minor issues in the overall scheme of things and we would rent here again, and would expect that they would have the opportunity to address the floor damage, which they likely didn't during the busy summer season.

The view from the deck was beautiful and we really enjoyed sitting out there watching the sailboats bob in the bay and the mist rolling in and out of the shore.

Definitely a great place to stay and very central to everything you would want to see.

Beautiful house in Rockland

Gobucks Graytown, Ohio, USA
Review Submitted: July 13, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We were so very pleased with the house we rented. The owners had such vision when they converted the old warehouse into a rental property. Every need we had was taken care of. There was so much open space and everything was so clean. Susan decorated the place so nice, that we would have been happy to stay in the house all week; but, we did have to get out and explore. Everything in town was within walking distance and everyone we encountered was so friendly. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor were just a 2 hour drive. Whale watching in Boothbay Harbor was great and we saw a mother Humpback and her calf. The views from the pool and decks were outstanding! Our extended family couldn't have chosen a better place to stay and we were all totally satisfied. We would definitely stay here again!
Owner's Response: Thank you for your wondeful comments. It always makes us feel so good when a family enjoyed our house as much as we always did. Hope to see you again!

Wonderful Vacation Experience

Georgia Blairsville, GA
Review Submitted: December 19, 2007 Date of Stay: October 2007
Our stay at this renovated warehouse / vacation dream home was a wonderful experience. The location was great and centrally located around many areas we visited. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the accommodations were exceptionally clean. Much effort went into to making us feel at home. There were lots of little extras provided like bicycles, movies, board games, etc. that only added to our great experience. We hope to visit again.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words, it makes it all worth while. We hope you and your family return to visit our "little neck of the woods" soon. Best, Susan
