This was such a quaint house! We loved walking each morning just down the street to the coffee shop, then heading just a few more blocks for the kids to play at the wonderful playground right on the beach! (Oh and the men LOVED the cable so they could watch all the football games!)Thanks!

Great Location, Lots to do in the area.

Grandpa & Grandma Belleville, Illinois, USA
Review Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Our mid July week was super for all 17 of us. A fun get together for us with our children and grandchildren. Walk to beautiful Silver Beach, downtown for shopping, ice cream and Chicago Style hot dogs. Lots of people watching on the front porch. Great weather, plenty of room in this big historic home. We all loved it and we will be back in 2010. Thanks Jennifer!
Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at the McNeil House. Glad you found it spacious enough for your clan of 17! We are delighted that you want to come back and look forward to your return! Yeah, love that front porch. Jennifer

Great location for beach and downtown!

We stayed at the McNeil house in late May. Although the weather was chilly, the house was ideal. We walked to Silver Beach and enjoyed the downtown on our way. When it rained, the house had many amenities to make our stay enjoyable. There was plenty of space for our family of 9, with room for plenty more. A charming house with tons of character. You can feel the history in the house and in St. Joe. We can't wait to go back! Thank you for making our get away a memorable one.

Perfect!

surprise party Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: May 14, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My sisters and I rented this property for a surprise b-day party for my Mom and it couldn't have worked out better. St Joeseph is a wonderful town - plenty of cafes, pubs and shopping are only one block away. The house is large, with several rooms, including an open plan sitting and dining room. Great for socialising. Likewise, it was wonderful to sit on the front porch in the evening watching the world go by! The house was clean and Jennifer and Ken were very accommodating! I would higly recommend renting this house to anyone looking for a large property within close walking distance to the lake and town. My mom had such a great time; we hope to come back again! Thanks again for a wonderful time!

Bittersweet

moutain lover Colorado Springs, CO
Review Submitted: January 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
Like the nearby ski resort, this place is Bittersweet. HUGE house, sleeps an army, but the kitchen is old and not terribly functional to prepare meals for that army. The dining room table seats 6-8 and 3-4 more on the porch leaves you desiring more seating for your army. We had a large group only one night and felt divided and portioned off from one another. Yard is TINY, but location is near perfect. I thought it was a bit overpriced for sure, but I would go back again if they adjust that, given the adjustments we had to make and lack of practical full set-up for "16" guests....just my humble opinion. Others on this site all give it 5 stars, so I guess we all have our own opinions.

McNeil House

Review Submitted: July 9, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We really enjoyed our stay at the McNeil House over the July 4th week. The house was perfect for our 4 families (7 adults and 5 kids). The kids had plenty of room to run around without getting bored. They enjoyed the toys and books that were available there, too. That was a fun surprise for them. :) The house has lots of character and charm and felt very homey. It's obvious that the house has had lots of updates over the years. The location was great. A very short walk to downtown shops, restaurants and the library. The beach was a little farther, but definitely walkable. It was just 2 short blocks from the house to an amazing view of the beach and lake, with beautiful sunsets. The free public parking lot is also only one block away and worked out fine. The owners, Jennifer and Ken, were very helpful with details before our trip and were available during our visit (although we didn't need anything).

I, along with 12 buddies, visited St. Joseph and stayed in this beautiful house. We were absolutely amazed at the amount of room, the location, and the cleanliness of this building. You are within 5 minutes of the lake, and five minutes from most places in down town.

We also had a great experience booking this house, with everything being fair and honest from the beginning.

The town of St. Joseph was very friendly. Overall I could not have asked for more in this experience. Thanks again.
