Advantages of this rental are many: 2 blocks from the beach, clean, well equipped and the owners were over the top responsive to our every request. We forgot to bring blankets and couldn't find the cutting board; they brought them within an hour! I didn't realize there was no washer, but we used the pay machines at the condos 2 blocks away and I didn't need to buy detergent (for 1 load). Talk about hospitality!
Three complaints: 1) the poor use of space in the living area. You had to sit sideways to watch TV 2) There were NO reading lamps, just overhead lights and there were no comfy chairs to snuggle into with a book. 3) Kitchen area was cramped.
The side yard was a big plus. It had six or eight faux Adirondack chairs and was tastefully decorated. There were 2 large picnic tables and a clothesline that the 3 rental units shared. All 3 families had gatherings with friends and family who were visiting once during the week, but everybody cleaned up and was considerate.
Location is another plus. The seasonal NJ Transit bus 137 stops 4 blocks away at Hamilton Ave.-- very convenient for our daughter, who came to visit from the City. Transportation from Philadelphia is NOT convenient. Nobody in either Boro hall, nor the woman in the Visitors Bureau on the boardwalk could tell me where the bus stop was. I had to call NJ Transit!
There are lots of 7Eleven-type stores and liquor stores, but to get fresh meat or seafood, you have to walk about 10 blocks and cross a very busy street to get to the A&P. A large CVS is 1 block from the A&P. I wish the communities on this island would provide some kind of shuttle bus.
Overall, it was a good experience and with some improvements, we'd go back for sure.

My family had the opportunity to stay at this 1st floor house the week before 4th of July. It was extremely clean, with just a few things that needed attention. There was no DVD connection (previous renters had taken it); a few lightbulbs needed replacing, blender was broken. This was just a little inconvenient, but the owner was very attentive to these problems. The only thing that I really did not like was the huge family on the 2nd floor. they dominated the yard (making a total mess). So we could not even grill. Next time, I will definetly consider renting the 2nd Floor with more room. The walk to the beach & boardwalk was 5 minutes. Very clean & family oriented neighborhood. Thanks Stu for making my week enjoyable. We will be back.....$
