Just returned from a first time visit to the Outerbanks and had a great time. As first time users of home away, we were very satisfied. The property was accurately described (inside and out) and pictures provided were accurate. Furnishings were beautiful. Appliances were up to date and in working condition, kitchenware provided for all needs while staying. Chose this property based on reviews and because its pet friendly. A short walk to beach. Very quiet surroundings. Development well cared for and security was visible during our stay. Only problem we had was with dryer. The owner called the next day after speaking with "steve" who stopped by on Tuesday to check on pool and see if there was anything that needed attention. Told him about shower head in one bathroom not working properly and he returned within a 1/2 hr. with a brand new one! Spoke w/owner regarding dryer and he was apologetic and as far as I could tell was grateful for being informed. Although property was listed through Home Away, this year the owner used realtor handle the rental arrangements, Kitty Dunes (would not recommend them). They sent us to the wrong office to pick up the keys and basically did not want to be bothered with anything while we were there. Signs and all information provided by them gave the impression they would not be responsive. Not a very friendly staff. Our unit came with "flyers club" sheet and towel service. Typical hotel quality towels, sheets were a little small for beds, but we were able to get them on with a little work. Good supply given. Restaurants not great in the area and expensive. We used the BBQ grill provided quite a bit while we were there. Was not expecting the traffic upon arriving in the outerbanks being first timers and the large crowds in two grocery stores. will be better prepared next time. Day trip to Hatteras and Manteo. Not necessary, but nice if you have the time and are willing to give up a day on the beach. Wild Horse Tour the last day a nice experience if you can, a little pricey. Outerbanks stand up paddle board in Duck, run by Rob and Michelle, outstanding! They were terrific with our 2 teenage boys. Reasonably priced and a really fun time. They even take pictures for you and send them to your email. Would definitely recommend taking a lesson from them. Buck's ice cream in Timbuktu shopping area right across from us had delicious homemade ice cream. Best store, Kitty Hawk Kites!

We spent a great deal of time choosing a location that would be suited for a large family with several small children. This property was clean and accommodating; however, I would not recommend this for families with small children. The walk to the beach is too long for young children and there is no parking available near the beach (we had to drive the children to the beach, take our car back to the house and then walk to the beach). Unfortunately, there are also no restrooms near the beach making this even more difficult. The property also has many steps and could be difficult for some. Shopping was great, some restaurants were available. We were able to check in earlier than most rental properties which is terrific for families traveling a distance with children. The pool was smaller than expected; water was warm but could have been better maintained (dirty before and after the "pool cleaner" left the premises). I would recommend this property to families with older children.

A beautifully, clean, well-maintained comfortable home-from-home property that allows an easy transition for families and/or extended families to enjoy the comfort and space needed to relax. The house is well equipped and provides TV's and DVD's for entertainment, a collection of books for light reading for those thus inclined and play materials for children. Decks on two levels provide the opportunity to eat outside and also enjoy the luxury of hot tub to relax in. The property is in a quiet secluded neighbourhood and while there is a swimming pool on the property the house is within walking distance from the sea and miles of sandy beaches. There are a number of very fine restaurants in the area for those wanting to experience a break from the culinary arts!

I would highly and unreservedly recommend this property to others for a really relaxing vacation and hope that they will equally enjoy their time there.

We were first-time vacations to the Outer Banks and were very pleased with our house selection. It was just as the pictures showed. The house was very clean and well kept up. There was plenty of room for our family and friends. The pool and hot tub were big hits with the kids (young adults). Each floor had something special, like the first floor den with game system, the second floor porch with hot tub and the third floor had an enclosed porch and large deck for sun bathing which was great for morning coffee and a good book. It was a great area-short walk to beach, great for biking and lots of shopping. Very family-oriented area. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and would definitely go back.

The house was well equipped and only a short walk to the beach. We were pleased with how the house was furnished, the furniture was attractive and up to date, beds comfortable and clean. Each room was nicely decorated.
We rented the house in late September and the children spent endless hours in the pool. The temperature of the water was very comfortable (solar heated) and it was nice to sit outside in the evening after they went to bed (I admit some nights it was with a drink in hand.)We enjoyed the hot tub; it was conveniently located on the second floor deck and proved a great favorite with everyone. Both were spotlessly clean and well maintained.
We were happy to have an outside shower when we returned from the beach, especially one bigger than a closet. The washer and dryer were in excellent condition and used frequently during our stay. The den on the lower level was a nice escape when the household became chaotic and I spent hours hiding away in it reading.
Shopping, dinning and sights were nearby.
We would highly recommend the Sand Piper as a well priced vacation rental. We hope to stay there again soon

My friends and I have stayed at Sand Piper several times and have enjoyed our stay each time.
The house is very comfortable, clean, located close to all ameninties and situated centrally to visit the many places of interest in the area.
The swiming pool affords privacy and after a busy day a soak in the hot tub is welcoming.
