Photos and Description of the Traverse City vacation cottage rental
3 Bdrm, 1 Bath, Lake Front/View Cottage - Minutes from Downtown Traverse City

About 7 miles south of Traverse City south just off Garfield Road and just north of Kingsley. On the south end Arbutus Lake. Other cottages are available so please call or email us - check out #283199 on HomeAway.com.

We have a recently remodeled cottage in this vacation lake resort which can accommodate 6 to 8 people. The lake property has 400 ft. of private beach with a sandy bottom, two rafts and buoys, four 30-ft docks, children's playground, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, barbecue grills and fire pits.

If you are boating and/or fishing, the resort features a large boat house with private secured lockers, a screened-in fish-cleaning house with running water and a boat launch. Pontoon boat rental is available for an additional fee.

This is also a great location if you are planning to take a fall color tour so don't limit yourself just to summer!

Small pets are considered and renters are asked to clean up after them. The resort is not handicap accessible.

The heated vacation cottage has a newly constructed deck, kitchen with microwave, dishes, pots and pans, coffee maker and toaster. Bed linens and towels are not provided, however bedspreads, pillows and blankets are in the cottage.

The resort and cottage is secluded and quiet, located on wooded Arbutus Lake. Water recreation includes swimming, trophy fishing (small and large mouth bass, blue gill, perch, pike and crappie), boating and water-skiing. Nearby recreation includes golf, tennis, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding and shopping.

Perfect Vacation Destination

My family absolutely loved this vacation cottage as well as the property. Starting with the cottage, Scott and Crystl thought of every detail. Recently remodeled, this cottage came with all of the comforts of home. Beautiful tile floors, lots of storage, ceiling fans in every room, all of the necessary amenities that a kitchen needs to feel like home, new furniture all with a beautifully decorated touch. Before arriving I was a little concerned that there was no air conditioning in the cottage, but I was pleasantly suprised. Due to the tree coverage of the cottage (as well as all of the ceiling fans), there was no need for AC at all. Two of the days we were there the temperatures even went over 90 degreees and it was always comfortable in the cottage. The new deck they just had built was over the top! We spent more time on the deck than in the cottage. With the spaciousness and shade coverage as well as the views, the deck was one of my favorite parts of the cottage. The property itself was also amazing. For families with small children the lake provided an extra security that was appreciated. Classified as a no wake lake, tucked away in a cove, the only boats were small fishing boats and an occational pontoon. The fishing in the small lake was wonderful. I personally caught over 30 fish during the week we were there! For those interested in the more fast paced water activities, Arbutus 1 is connected to a larger section of the lake (just around the bend) where these activities are allowed, so everyone can enjoy their own personal choice of water activities. The location of the property was also a major plus. Although the area is very rural, firewood, groceries, and other necessities could be reached in less than a 5 minute drive. The scenic drive to Traverse City was only 15 minutes away providing lots of fun activities for families or adult entertainment alike. This was by far the best vacation experience due to the beautiful cottage, property, location, activities available...everything! We can't wait to go back next year!

Perfect vacation!

This was absolutely the best vacation home that I have ever stayed in! I don't have one negative thing to say about the cottage or the property! The cottage was immaculate with beautiful tile floors, new furniture, drywalled rooms, new pots and pans, excellent storage, etc. It was beautifully decorated making it feel like a home away from home. The deck was dreamy! With the location of the trees, the deck as well at the cottage stayed nice and cool all day long. Although there was no air conditioning, I was surprised that even on the day that reached over 90 degrees it wasn't needed due to the excellent tree covering and the ceiling fans in every room. The property itself was also exceptional. The area was quiet with lots of beautiful nature to enjoy. The lake was pristine and provided lots of excellent fishing. For families with children this lake provided peace of mind as it is a no wake lake so only small fishing boats and pontoons ventured in. The area designated for swimming is tucked away in a beautiful little cove making it safe as well as fun! For those who like the bigger lakes, a small trip around the bend connects the lake to a much larger lake providing access for the faster paced water activities. The location of the property was only a 15 minute ride from downtown Traverse City with lots of fun family activities to enjoy. Although the area was very rural, stores for supplies were less than a 5 minute drive. I would rate this vacation cottage as a definite 5 star, and my family can't wait to go again next year!

Pleasantly surprised how clean, nicely decorated and modern the cottage was without losing the beautiful feel of being at a lake cottage. I didn't feel I was giving up the comforts of home. Plenty of ceiling fans and very much appreciated how quiet they all were. You can tell by the upgrades and extras the owners are very much interested in making sure their guests enjoy their stay. Great patio area with tables and chairs built off the dock to read, play cards or just relax.
A short ride to downtown Traverse to eat or do some fun shopping in many of their unique shops-women will love it!
Would definately recommend to a friend!

We really enjoyed staying at this cottage. Our only gripe was that it was not right on the water, you had to go down a huge hill to get to the beach. The cottage was very clean and new, all new upgrades. We enjoyed the beach because the water was very warm and clean. We loved the playground and the firepit. We brought our 3 year old daughter and she had a blast. We also brought our 9 year old chocolate lab.

Nice Clean Cottage near great swimming lake

Our week overall was very enjoyable. This is not a lake-front cottage as we had assumed. The lake is close but it's a steep hill climb back to the cottage and my daughter who is 7 1/2 months pregnant had a tough time. The lake is extremely small but is great for swimming since it's warm and the bottom is sandy. We swam every day. We were wishing there had been some kayaks available as this is the perfect lake for kayaking.

The cottage was super clean, modern and nicely decorated. The kitchen had just about everything we needed except for a wine botltle opener and we could have used a skillet for breakfasts (there was only a small saute pan).

I highly recommend the Leelanau Wine Trail, which is only about 15-20 minutes away. The wineries are very quaint with spectacular views of Lake Michigan. Some of the wine is very good and some not so good but tastings are very reasonable (anywhere from free to $5.00). There are brochures in the binder at the cottage.

Although everything wasn't perfect, cottages this clean with modern appliances and comfortable beds are hard to come by.

Nice clean remodeled cottage. Rustic setting with basic amenities. Good location if you want to run into Traverse City daily or more. Row boats were old and not in the best shape. Barking dogs nearby were a problem at night. We had to close the windows on that side of the house to sleep. Overall we did enjoy our week in this cottage and would consider renting again.

The property was just a little hard to find at first. The description was accurate. Need numbers on the side of cottage to show the address.
The layout of the cottage was great, with small children you are just around the corner to be in their room.
The property was very clean and well maintained, yard was just getting mowed when we got there.
We had to call the owner to find out if there were fans in the cottage and yes there was one in every room including the bed rooms which was great.
The only problem that we can really say is the water pressure in the kitchen. Need more hot water for even 4 people.
You could use a small lamp in two of the bedrooms for reading.
We had driven into Travers City and out to Suttons bay, did some shopping and it was a great time had by all.
And we would very much recommend this site to all our friends and family, it is just a great place to get away and enjoy everyone with you. We did do most of our own cooking just to spend more time together.
We didn't use the boat or the lake because we were doing so much togehter. Next time the guys said that they would do some fishing.
The other people in the area were great, quiet, talked when we had questions.
Scott and Crystal were great every time we talked with them, they were quick to respond to us at any time we tried to contact them. Great Customer Service Thank you.
