Amazing stay in Glyfada!

This apartment is beautiful. We never wanted to leave! The owners are great. We had a flight delay and didn't arrive until 5am and they were very understanding. They gave us suggestions of things to do and where to go. Even how to get there. We loved that we could cook supper every night and the supermarket was just around the corner and was was the market. Also a great resturant was down the street and there's a nice bakery with really good ice cream just down the street. The beach is about a 20 minute walk. There's a private beach as well as a public beach. There's also lots of great shopping. The bus takes about 25 minutes and takes you right into Athens. There's also a tram but it takes a little longer but goes along the coast so you can see the beautiful scenery. I highy recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Athens. It's just outside but much better then staying right in athens. Also the bus and tram are not expensive at all!

Beautiful apartment

The apartment is clean and well located. The public playground is 3 blocks away. The pharmacy is across the street. The bakery and mini-mart are 1 block away. The supermarket is 2 blocks away as is the bus stop. The 128 bus will take you to the beach. The neighborhood is reletively quiet. Internet access is available if you ask the owners.
The apartment is beautiful. It has balconies on all three sides. There are marble floors, stained glassed windows, tiled bathrooms. There are embroidered sheets. The cooking equipment is new. Altough we didn't use them, we appreciated the presence of coffee makers, irons and hairdryers. The washing maching in the apartment works great.
The only concern I have about the place is the mosquitos. It has a serious mosquito problem that needs to be addressed. My daughter was bit by mosquitos over 65 times over the course of 4 days. We resorted to closing all doors at night, killing all those mosquitos we could find, and liberally applying repellant cream.
Otherwise, this is a nice place to stay.

Best Stay I've Ever Had

Estop United States
Review Submitted: April 21, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Words cannot express how amazing my entire experience was at this apartment. The apartment had room for six people, it had two balconies, a full kitchen... everything you'd need. It was very clean and well-maintained. It was in a delightful neighborhood with a metro stop less than a block away. There was also an amazing restaurant just down the street. The owner made our stay better than we could have possibly imagined. I left the apartment at 4:00 in the morning to get to the airport. When I grabbed for my wallet to pay the taxi driver, my wallet was nowhere to be found. I woke the owner up and she was so worried and compassionate about my missing wallet. Later that day she called to inform me that she had found my wallet and said to email her when I got home. She wanted to know where she could send it so I could have my wallet as soon as possible. I insisted that she take some money for herself, and she refused. I am so lucky that she was as kind and honest as she was. We were SO pleased with our stay at this apartment. The price is too good to be true and our stay was better than any stay I had in my three months in Europe. I will be sure to suggest this apartment for anyone going to Athens!

our staying in glyfada was perfect. the house clean and confortable. the owners, living upstairs, were very kind and provided us with everything we couldn't find in the house, for example a vegetables mixer. the lady cooked a greek dish and gave us to try... it was delicious.. the beaches are very close and Athens only 15 kms.. we drove to the capital every day. it was fantastic to be so near to the capital but living in an elegant and quit area..

Glyfada Appartment

Ewa London, UK
Review Submitted: April 28, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
We had a very enjoyable week in Glyfada. We spent most of the time visiting marvellous sights of Athens, but enjoyed coming back to this clean and spacious apartment. Although simply furnished, we found it perfectly adequate for a week’s stay. The neighbourhood is very quiet and you feel very safe walking late at night. We recommend the little patisserie across the road that is open till late at night and sells the most incredible ice cream and cakes. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The public transport to Athens is very easy and cheap (10 Euro for a weekly travel ticket for buses, trams and metro). It takes 30-40 min by bus and metro or 50min-1hour by bus and tram (more scenic route) to get to the centre of Athens. If you have young children head for great costal playgrounds of Kalamaki or Parko (tram route).

Overall Disappointment

JeannieK Oslo, Norway
Review Submitted: January 2, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2007
While clean, the property lacked the true "fully equipped" status that would allow us to manage a decent vacation with 3 small children. The "park across the street" is a gated park that could only be reached by climbing a wall and then squeezing through a gap in the gate. In addition, while the advertisement stated internet available, there was none which left little for my husband and I to do after the kids were in bed. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable, and the oven doesn't close completely. Getting to Athens was not at all as simple as the ad implies. The one and only highlight, while the entire family was sick, the upstairs neighbors helped launder the blankets and sheets and also brought rice and lemons to help with upset stomachs. My family and I ended up leaving two days early and finished our vacation in a hotel.
Owner's Response: Dear JeannieK
Thank you for your review and comments.I would like to say that the equipment of the property is listed on line on the web site, so it's known to everyone before arrival.Regarding the entrance to the park, this is a public property that is open certain hours of the day, and there is an entrance to it that is easily accessed. The property is equipped with wireless internet but in order to have access, however, the user must enter the correct password which is provided by the owner. Regarding the "upstairs neighbors", these are the owners, not just any neighbors. The owners provided medicine , laundry service and special food for free, understanding the situation with your sick children. Access to Athens centre is as simple as it can be. There is only one bus line near the property, that takes you to downtown Athens. All beds are normal size and sleep adults or children -- this is the first time we get a complaint about the beds. Also, we were asked by you to return remaining funds back because of your early departure from the property. It's stated clearly, however, in the cancellation policy rules, that this is not possible, not to mention that it was a last minute request on a holiday season.
