Not what we expected.
It's not often that I have to leave a bad review, but in this case it's warranted.
The house's single redeeming feature was it's location - a short walk to seafront, beach, restaurants and shops.
The house was very dated. There were stained carpets in most of the rooms, apart from the kitchen which had a cracked & chipped tile floor, with paint peeling off the ceiling. The master suite has twin beds, not a big problem for us, but it should be noted. There was a very noisy oil furnace in a hall close (right outside the master bed) which woke us up most nights and gave off so much heat (just what we didn't need with temps in the upper 80's and 90's all week). The furnace actually heats up the water, so I appreciate there's no way to turn it off in the summer.
There were several lightbulbs not working throughout the house. The kitchen was poorly equipped - no wine glasses or tea kettle - we had to resort to heating water in the microwave for tea. What kitchen equipment there was appeared to have been there for many years - who wants to serve salad in an old plastic bowl?
The BBQ hadn't been cleaned since that last person used it and there were no cleaning tools - we had to go out any buy a brush before we could use it.
In summary, I would say that it's not worth what they are charging and it's certainly not immaculate as described. I wouldn't recommend this house. It reminds me of a grimy student rental.
Owner's Response: I stand by my rental house. The house is beautifully maintained and decorated, and is thoroughly and professionally cleaned in early June, and every weekend throughout the summer. The walls are painted, the carpets are steam cleaned, and the bathrooms are scrubbed. If a light bulb is out, or you have a salad in a plastic bowl, I see no real disaster here. I will mention to the cleaning crew to clean the BBQ, but honestly, I get nothing but thank you notes from my renters, and repeat renters at that.
