The second floor has a panoramic view of the beach to the north, east and south from the new sunny deck. The view from the second floor deck can and often does include beautiful sunrises. It is second to none on the island.
Outdoor propane grills are provided on the west porches near the kitchen on both floors. There are new decks on the ocean and west side and new vinyl entry stairs and railings, all rebuilt since Sandy.
The first floor has an ocean side porch opens on to a quiet private beach area that provides an added sense of security for younger children. Little ones can play in the sand and build castles under the watchful eyes of their parents on the porch.
Some of our guests with multiple generations take both floors and have 6 bedrooms available to them. There are also a minimal number of stairs for the first floor, which makes it easy for little ones and those with a problem with stairs. Extended families and good friends have done this for an even bigger beach experience.

Mary and Daryl Todd have owned the Merivale property since their 4 children were youngsters. They grew up on the beaches of Beach Haven and bought the property so their children could experience the same joy and rebirth they did as children. Now that they are grandparents of 12, they love to see their grandchildren picking up the torch for the island and especially for their home on Merivale. There is a special joy that comes with knowing their grandchildren will get out of the car and immediately walk the few steps to the beach and just breath it in. It is the finest gift they can pass on. It is the knowing that they will always be able to return to the shore for healing, growth and revitatlization. Generations of Beach Haven summers go into the beach owners home at Merivale. The house has seen many a storm and stood strong dating back to the 1950's. The owners have a deep respect for the ocean and the beach. Most of all they want to share their love of the sound of the gulls and the surf. They want you to remember the sunrises and take them with you through the winter. The ocean, the beach and their beach house is something they want you to experience and enjoy. In the words of one of the matriarch's of the family. 'What could be nicer.'
Merivale Ave. is a lovely street in the southern section of Beach Haven. 220 Merivale is the end of the street, closest home to the beach and the ocean. The owners have owned it since the mid 1980's but it has undergone a complete renovation and update.
The beach slightly to the north is a particularly nice beach for swimming. There are at least 2 full time life guards posted from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Slightly to the south of the property is the surfers beach. Experienced surfers ride the waves and create a beautiful thing to watch. One block away is the Children's Park. Up to date playground equipment is maintaned by the city. This gives a feeling of spaciousness to the street. The ice cream paralor and bike and beach equipment rental is just a block away. On the bay side, there is a wide street parallelling the bay which has spectacular sunsets most nights. That street ends into the local yacht club (LEHYC) where the races are almost non stop during the summer. Racers come from all over the country to compete. The town operates multiple tennis courts for those who want to use them.
The owners grew up or summered on the island and although they have traveled to other places, recognize and love its village atmosphere and consider it a most cherished and special place.
There is a small private fenced in area in front of the decks.
It allows for private beach parties and secure spots for little children to build their castles, play ball or just lie in the sun. A covered porch overlooks it for adults to read, work or use their tablets and know their kids are in sight. It is so easy to rise with the sun and go on a beach treasure walk. It is so nice to have a lobster feast overlooking the ocean and listening to the gulls. You can enjoy a beach party in front of the porch as the sun goes down. The fishermen are a stones throw from the best fishing beaches. The surfers just look one block to the south to check the waves. The swimmers can go one block to the north for a guarded beach.
The bikers can walk to the corner to rent a bike. The children can cross the street and find a lovely well equiped park. The coffee lovers can sip coffee at the Black Dog cafe on the Avenue where they can grab a sandwhich or bring home a $15. lobster feast.
