Had a Great Time in Murphy

Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We live in Miami and wanted to get away for a while up in the mountains so we found this place and contacted Walter (the owner) and tried to set it all up. Renting and scheduling it all was quick and painless, hes very well organized and responds quickly, so when it was time to go we were set. The location is a blessing and a curse, located atop a rural mountain with a few other vacation homes (moderately spaced out so you can still enjoy your privacy), the view is GORGEOUS sunup to sundown and the stars at night are wonderful, but it is near 2 hours from any major attraction or large town. The City of Murphy is great for driving in and just walking around to the different shops (great antique shops), very family friendly with no bars or clubs (its a dry county), but many quality restaurants. We made day trips to go white water rafting and hiking in South Carolina and Georgia and the 3 bedroom 3 bathroom cabin was very comfortable to return to and relax with a fully equipped kitchen and grill to cook. Along with all that, the owner and cleaning staff are very courteous, even sending me my bag which I left behind with my camera and phone charger, arriving quickly through UPS without any hassle from them. All together a great trip in a location I would recommend.
Owner's Response: While a number of the local attactions are 1 1/2 - 2 hours away, there are quite a number of things to do that are between 30 - 45 minutes or so away, depending on what you want to do. These include white water rafting, boating, horseback riding, golf and several national parks.

More Than Expected!

The chalet was more than expected! Well maintained, exceptionally clean, and actually looked brand new. The mountain views were awesome, especially sunrise and sunset! Everything was provided; just bring your clothes and toothbrush and it is home away from home! The owner corresponded with us via email and made the whole experience a pleasure. We would recommend this beautiful chalet to all of our friends. While there we did some sightseeing and shopping in the historic downtown Murphy.

Fantastic home, great location, amazing views

My wife and I just got back from our stay - it was amazing. The home is brand new, with a great kitchen, gorgeous views from both decks and a fun game room. The beds were very comfortable as well. If you must catch your favorite shows, the TVs are great (flat-screen tvs)!

Walter was wonderful in answering all our questions (we were first-time cabin renters), and directed us to some great activities like white water rafting (we chose Outdoor Adventure Rafting) and vineyards in north Georgia (we visited Crane Creek).

As for Murphy, it is a beautiful mountain town with lots of relaxing activities and great people. I highly recommend shopping in downtown Murphy - wonderful shops and dining. Another advantage to Murphy is it is within reasonable driving distance to many great attractions in North Carolina, north Georgia and Tennessee.

We would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing mountain retreat with amazing views and fantastic accomodations.

Great Vacation Home

What an excellent vacation experience! The home was clean and beautifully decorated with every amenity provided. Close to all types of fun activities, white-water rafting, tubing, state parks, hiking, fishing, shopping, sight-seeing, and some great restaurants. After a day full of fun, we would come home to grill dinner and watch the sun set over a terrific mountain view from the deck. A totally relaxing experience.
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who needs a relaxing get away from the daily hussle and bussle. Our teenagers loved the downstairs game room and we all had fun playing the games provided. We have already told our friends about this wonderful rental and the attentiveness provided by the owner.

Beautiful Cabin with Great Views!

My family really enjoyed this cabin. The owner answered all of our questions and provided excellent driving directions. Upon arriving the cabin was very clean and inviting. Murphy is a short drive from several rafting areas and golf courses. The cabin is a few miles from downtown, a grocery store, Wal-Mart, and several restaurants. I would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Best Place for Fun or Just to De-Stress

Martica Miami, FL
Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We recently came back from our third vacation in this wonderful cabin and we are already planning to return this December. We love going to Murphy and staying here because we can do as much or as little as we want. This trip included hiking, boating, national parks and gorgeous sunsets.

The cabin is beautifully furnished and has spectacular mountain views. We would often rush back from our daily events so we could enjoy wine and cheese as we watched the sunset.

I can't say enough about it. Highly recommended!

Our 2nd stay and more to come.....

What a great place. We stayed another week this year in the best cabin I could find. I initially found it last year and we loved it so much we decided to do it early in the summer just in case we can go again at the end of summer.

The cabin is perfectly decorated and easy to find. There are so many reasons we like this place. We find the view from both porches and from the master bedroom just perfect no matter the weather. The kitchen is great even with the 4 of us helping my 9 yr old daughter on her designated cooking night. The pool table, TV’s, and more are great too. The kids seem to like the bear rug and the downstairs bedroom with the bear prints on the wall the most.

Inside is a nice layout with great views, 3 nice sized bedrooms, and more. Be sure to grab a cup of tea (we always leave some of the good tea behind) or coffee for a nice sunset show from the porch.

We enjoy cooking in, using the BBQ and going out to eat. There is plenty to choose from. Several grocery stores and even a super Walmart are close by. Restaurants are plenty. We like Brothers (very close), Monte Alban Mexican, No Name Deli, and more.

There is plenty to do. Hike nearly anywhere, go white water rafting on the Ocoee or the Nantahala, horseback riding, and lots more. If you do the Nantahala go to Fast Rivers, we have gone there for 7 years straight; they are great. Horseback riding (just past Fast Rivers) is great fun too. We are also known to do some mini-golf, a trip to Cherokee, a picnic to a small picnic area in Fires Creek, or even a picnic at Deep Creek where we all go tubing down the creek.

I will admit, I have been coming to Murphy since a kid and love vacationing there. We enjoy it so much we were ready to purchase a place 2 years ago. Since finding this place, we dediced renting it was substantially cheaper, easier, and most importantly we love arriving to a perfect and clean house.

Lastly, bring a good camera; you will need it for the great views. I have at least 100 pictures taken throughout the day and even of the sunset all from the main porch. Many came out perfect.

Would I recommend it, yes of course as long as you don’t book the same week we want to go. ?

WHAT A BARGAIN!!!!

Adam & His Family Lakeland, FL
Review Submitted: June 29, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
My wife, our three sons and myself just got back from this rental yesterday. I have to say- WHAT A BARGAIN! We decided to go with a rental a little out of the way and drive to do all the things we wanted to do. We found this to be so perfect, and central for doing just that. We tubed down the Notely river twice, went to Whitewater and Bridal Veil Falls, we jumped over to Tennessee to go to the Mayfield Farms tour and The Lost Sea Adventures, and more. And we still had time to just relax and enjoy each other in between. Myself and my boys (17,13,8yrs) long board. This spot was perfect right down in front of the cabin, what a rush! The neighbors were fantastic, both quiet and friendly. The cabin was way more than the pics can do justice! Everyone was sad to leave, even my teens! That is saying something. You have all the advantages of being on a mountain, but you can still run to the store for anything you need in just a few minutes. We are already looking at our calendar to schedule the next trip. I can't recommend this rental enough. I would give it 10 suitcases if I could. Great value, great location, great ambience for family or a couple looking to get away. Just fantastic!!! And the renter was very helpful. My only warning is; follow his directions getting there NOT (iPhone) Google maps! Lets just say we got there the scenic way. AND got to find out our youngest son and my wife are both prone to car sickness. We brought the renter's recommended way back and had zero issues. Thank you.
