Although it rained for most of our stay, we had a marvelous time, exploring the beach, the cottage was clean & comfortable. We enjoyed lobsters, the quiet & the good times at my 50th class reunion in Bath. There is much to see an do around the area rain or shine! It is a short distance from the Fort & the small village of Popham beach community. The views from the cottage were fantastic, the full moon a plus.
No crowds here! Things have not changed much in the years that I spent my childhood on this beach! It was like a walk back in time & the cottage was the frosting on the cake.

Most Beautiful Beach and View

The cottage had everything we needed and more. It was well equipped with chairs on the deck as well as for the beach. All that you need is a beach towel, your sunglasses and a smile on your face. The washer, dryer and dishwasher were very convenient. This cottage has the most gorgeous view of the Atlantic with lighthouse and islands. At low tide you can walk to the islands on the sand bars. It is so peaceful to hear the waves on the beach for a restful nights sleep. The filtered water worked great for kitchen use and the shower felt so refreshing after a day at the beach. The WI-Fi kept us connected with friends and family and was much faster than many hotels that I have stayed in. It is very comfortable sitting inside in the evening, the television worked great but it was also fun to just watch the sun set and then see the moon out over the water.

A very relaxing week!

We love this time of year! It's before everyone else shows up for the summer. We took long walks on the beach and not see more than a few people out and about. It's not too cold and not too warm. Perfect weather to play tennis on the court out front!
We found soooooo many cool shells on the beach. It's nice that the place has those big pots because we put them to good use. 2 lobster feasts in a week! We drove up into Phippsburg and picked up so much lobster for such a cheap price from a real lobster fisherman! I think we got 6 lobsters for what I paid for 1 lobster dinner in Boston last year.
We already booked our week for next year.

Wanted to send you a note to let you know how much we enjoyed Oceanview Cottage for those 2 weeks. The weather was great with only a couple of overcast days and better yet, my 2 sons were able to join us (1 for most of the 2 weeks while the other for a long weekend). We all enjoyed our time at Popham and have even begun to talk about next year

My family has vacationed at Popham Beach since the late 1800's, and it has actually become harder with each passing generation and year to find a comfortable place to stay that won't break the bank. (The ecology has kept development at near-zero.) Ocean View cottage provided a very relaxing vacation for my family of four. We had a dishwasher, washer and dryer (unheard of!); the beds were extremely comfortable; we could light a fire in the wood-stove in the evenings. The kitchen was well-stocked, with updated appliances, and the cleaning was provided both before and after our stay. A picturesque path past the lupines took us straight out to the beach, where a walk in either direction always affords breathtaking views. A stay at Ocean View feels like a visit with friends.

If you want to experience a little piece of heaven, here is it.This well maintained cottage is furnished with everything to make your stay comfortable-from the hammock on the deck for sunny days, to comfy couches on which to stretch out and read on rainy days and even a wood stove to take off the evening chill . It comes equipped with anything and everything you will need for your vacation stay, just bring your swim suit and toothbrush! The cottage is very private and quiet as it sits up in the trees, with a great ocean view, yet a short walk leads you right to down Popham beach. Popham is wonderful with an expansive sandy beach, lighthouse views, islands to which you can walk at low tide, and mesmerizing surf. Early morning walks on the beach to collect shells,afternoons spent sitting in beach chairs reading a good book, taking dips in th ocean or riding the waves, as well as evening walks to watch the sunset are all highlights of our days at the Popham. If you get tired of the slow pace of beach life, Freeport is close for shopping, Bath has museums to tour, and there are great restaurants within a few miles to sample wonderful Maine seafood (lobster anyway you like it).
