We will start taking summer reservations 4/1/14 for our airy, light-filled cottage across from scenic Lake Garfield. It is perfect for any season in an area that combines rich culture, natural beauty and outdoor recreation. There’s a lake view from the wraparound deck, and a beaver pond and wetlands are visible from the screened back porch. A short stroll brings you to a private beach (for quiet) or a town beach (for company and special events). You are a mile from the Monterey Store.
You’re 15 minutes from the restaurants, galleries, shops, concerts and theater of Great Barrington (rated one of “the coolest small towns in the U.S.A” by Budget Travel magazine).
You are also close to Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, Shakespeare & Company, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Edith Wharton’s home and all other cultural attractions, as well as premier hiking/outdoor spots such as the Appalachian Trail and Beartown State Forest, and ski areas including Butternut, Otis Ridge and Catamount.
Our house is located on a quiet, easily accessible private road. It has a king bed in the ground-floor master bedroom, a queen sofa bed in a den that can be closed off, and two bedrooms upstairs with two twin beds in each. We provide high-speed wireless Internet service, free long-distance phone service and many other amenities, including a canoe.

We are a family of musicians and hikers. The Berkshires offers something for everyone, and a lot of great restaurants. Some of our favorites in Great Barrington are Cafe Adam, Allium, Castle Street Cafe, Gypsy Joynt, Aegean Breeze, Koi, Baba Louie and the Great Barrington Bagel Company.
We are close to neighbors, stores and cultural activities, but the way the house is situated -- on a rise surrounded by woods and wetlands -- makes it seem like a real retreat. It's the best of many worlds, in our view.
