Peaceful, relaxing getaway

Submitted: October 17, 2009 Stayed: August 2009
My husband and I stayed at Camp Garoga during the week of Aug.31. It was by far the best "getaway" we've had! The property is spotless, welcoming and comfortable. Everthing about it speaks relaxation. The Adirondack decour and accents made us feel right at home immediately. Sitting by the firepit every night, roasting marshmallows was absolutely wonderful! The peace of the surrounding woods added to our stressfree stay. The kitchen was well stocked w/all you need to prepare meals and all the furnishings throughout were very comfortable. Chris was a wonderful host, spending some time visiting w/us but allowing us plenty of privacy as well.
We climbed a few mountain trails in the area and walked thru the wooded trails in the back of the house. We shopped in Saratoga Springs and just had plenty of relaxation time.
Thank you Chris and Dan for providing such a wonderful vacation spot!
We will return in 2010!

What a GREAT cabin

Submitted: May 15, 2013 Stayed: May 2013
First off, Chris, the owner of the cabin is incredible. He is always ready to help out and strives to make your stay at the cabin the best it can be. He is there when you need him, out of the way when you don't. He also gives great advice on where to eat (check out Dick & Peg's) and where to hike (check out the fire tower on the top of Kane Mountain).

The cabin itself was lovely. We stayed on the moose side and it was super cozy and clean...very clean. The feel on the inside is warm and rustic with lots of fun decorations all over the place. Many of the signs hanging on the walls were made by Chris, which I think is cool. I would say he is a master at forming tree branches into letters. Just outside the front door of the cabin you will find a nice fire pit with wood benches, a grill and some trails to explore. It's a really great piece of property with lots of room for kids to run around if you have them.

If you are looking for a nice getaway to the mountains, look no further. Chris is the go to guy for a good old Adirondack cabin experience.

Thanks again Chris!

Auskerada Cabin

We were originally booked to stay at Camp Garoga but Chris offered us the Auskerada Cabin and we can't thank him enough for it! From the attention to detail all over the cabin to the generous hospitality given to us we could not have asked for a better weekend away to regroup and escape NYC. We were able to enjoy the elements and the peacefulness that Caroga Lake had to offer. We can't stop talking about it and we will most definitely be back in the Spring!!!

Perfect Getaway

The cabin is really beautiful and Chris is an amazing host. It is perfect for a romantic getaway or just time off. Everything was very put together and clean. The kitchen has everything you might need to cook with (pots, seasonings etc.) I loved the variety of tea as well, they were perfect for the cold mornings. I honestly cannot wait to go back, me and my partner both enjoyed our stay very much and cannot wait to stay at Camp Garoga again. Also if you do go, definitely dine out at Sam's!

My partner and I came up from PA after searching and finding what we thought was the perfect spot for a relaxing, long weekend. We were not disappointed. This place is amazing and a steal! Highly recommend. Well stocked kitchen, very cozy loft bedroom, clean...it's every bit as nice as it looks in the pictures...actually it's BETTER. Chris, the owner, was very welcoming and hospitable. We will be back!

We had an amazing time by the fire place and roasting marshmellows by the camp fire. Chris and Dan were very hospitable to us and were always available when needed. Thank you soooooo much for everything Chris and Dan we had the time of our lives and hope to go back again soon. Perfect Family Christmas Getaway!

Submitted: January 1, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
This was our family's 4th visit to Camp Garoga, and in my opinion, our BEST yet! Everything was perfect for a relaxing family Christmas in the Adirondacks -- gently falling snow, a cozy fire, a hot cup of coffee & a good book cuddled up in the cabin. Chris never ceases to amaze us with his attention to even the tiniest detail. He truly makes your visit feel like you are "coming home" and treats you like family. Besides relaxing in the cabin, we enjoyed family walks on the trails & our 8 yr. old especially enjoyed searching for animal tracks and playing in the snow. We already started planning our next visit to Camp Garoga! See you in June, Chris!

Rich - Rented Three Times in Two Years!

Submitted: December 31, 2012 Stayed: October 2012
My girlfriend and I have rented out Camp Garoga in 2011 and 2012 and just recently stayed at Auskerada in October. All three times we were extremely happy with the accomodations. The cabins are beautifully decorated, and really give you the sense of Northwoods life. It's all the little details that are put into both Camp Garoga and Auskerada that really make them our favorite vacation spots! The cabins are spotless each time we arrive and things like complimentary soaps, shampoos, coffee and popcorn really make us feel welcome. The properties on the rentals are beautiful and hiking their respective trails are a must! And with all the activities around (hiking, skiing, kayaking, etc) all around, the cabins make for a great homebase. Chris and Dan have made sure that each time we stay everything is absolutely perfect (no matter how many times we call them to help us light the gas fireplace!), and when we come to the Adirondacks theres nowhere else we'd even think of staying. It's become our home away from home. We absolutely cannot wait to visit again and are already planning our next trip! Can I add more stars up there?

Perfect Family Christmas Getaway!

Everything you could possibly wish for! Cozy cabin, warm fire, snow falling gently outside, a cup of hot coffee & a good book. This is our 4th stay at Camp Garoga and it will not be our last! We were here for 10 days to visit family & friends for the Christmas holiday. The cabin is always immaculately clean and Chris always makes sure not a single little detail is overlooked! From the moment you walked in the door, all your stress will just melt away. One of our favorite parts of the stay was enjoying the snow-covered trails behind the cabin and searching for animal tracks with our 8 year old son. The only bad part of our vacation was having to come home. If you are looking for a truly wonderful getaway, give Camp Garoga a try -- you will not be disappointed!

Last Minute Weekend, Best Decision This Year

5 of 5
Submitted: December 6, 2012 Stayed: November 2012
My wife and I have had a rough year, and I was thinking of surprising her with a weekend away at a cabin upstate. We have slipped away for occasional weekends, and have found it to be a great way to re-charge our batteries and clear our heads. Let alone, re-charging the romance! We have been disappointed on occasion with our stays at various camps, B&B's, and cabins over the years, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. For our sake, I was hoping that the description given for Camp Garoga was accurate. Well, from the moment we stepped into the cabin I knew it was going to be a great weekend. It was everything it claimed to be, and more. From the cleanliness, to the decor, to all the little extra's that they have done to make our stay comfortable was so much appreciated! My wife turned and said to me as soon as we walked in the door of the cabin, "Lou, thank you so much. This is perfect!"

Thanks to Chris for making our much needed retreat, exactly what we needed! We noted in the guest journal that a lot of guests have become regular patrons of Camp Garoga, and we plan to add our names to that list.

Thanks again!
Owner's Response: Hey Lou & Sarah,

Thanks for the great review. I'm glad the weekend turned out so well for you guys. Please come back soon!

Regards,
Chris
