A house with a story!
Perched above the harbour that separates it from the town and the Highlands National Park , this simple Acadian style house was was originally located at Cap Rouge in Park. When the Park was established in 1940, it was removed (floated!) to Cheticamp Island. The house is fully renovated and equipped and is happily surrounded by acres and acres of hay fields and forest. The 'Queen' of Cheticamp Island!
This wonderful property is located on Island Light Road, a dirt road that runs along the harbour of Cheticamp Island, from the warm sand beach at the causeway that leads to the island, to Point Enrage and its lighthouse at the north end of the island. A good road for walking and for biking. Trails from the back of the house lead to the head land capes on the the 'back of the island'- 150 foot cliffs over the Gulf of St Lawrence. Many berries to pick on the way, and whales, seals, and eagles of several kinds to visit.
The house provides a private retreat for a couple, or a happy vacation for an entire family. We love children, and responsible dogs.....both can run free to their heart's content. The house is far back from the quiet road, well equipped with games, books and bikes. Rowboats.
