Reviews like this are basically worthless unless they are written with complete honesty and sincerity... a truthful balance of the positive and the negative.
With that premise in mind I have given this review a lot of careful thought and try as I might, I can't find a single negative comment to make about this house.
I think I must begin with a sincere fanfare of appreciation for the management company / cleaner who, as I understand it look after the property as the owner lives out of state.
When we arrived, tired after a 16 hour drive, the house was cool, immaculately clean and everything smelled fresh. A quick look through the closets and kitchen cupboards revealed a more than an ample supply of beach, pool and bath towells, clean spare sheets and absolutely everything you would need in a kitchen to cook a quick snack, breakfast or a gourmet supper.
The pool was chrystal clear, the fishing dock and patio areas spotless and although we had taken our own fishing gear there were even several rods and a tackle box.
We know the area very well, but if you don't , the location of the property is perfect..really.. a two minute walk from the beach where you can hire a canopy and two beach beds for $10 a day.
There are bait shops and a Publix grocery store a five minute drive away as well as a plethora of small independant restaurants.. some within a short walking distance of the house.
We were a very diverse family in terms of age range, a five year old, a teenager, a couple in their 30 s and of course us, the 50 something grandparents and naturally our holiday needs were as diverse as our years.
So, when the kids went off to play crazy golf just down the road, my husband and I sat on the dock, a sundowner in our hands, reeling in more catfish than we could shake a stick at and occasionally cooling off in the pool. Heaven.
I know, before we booked this house, we paid very careful attention to all the reviews, but until you see it for yourself it is difficult to judge whether other people's expectations are the same as ones own.
All I can say is this property was more than we expected...much more. It's not flashy, it's not glitzy but it is beautiful in a priviledged location and I would not hesitate for a second to recommend it to others.
We have taken away some wonderful memories from it which will stay with us all our lives....I hope you will too.

My husband & I have been to Madeira beach a few times and love it, which is why when we decided to take a family vacation this year we knew hands down where we were going to go. This was the first vacation we've ever taken as a family. We are a young couple.. I am 25 and my husband is 29. We have a 9 year old boy and custody of my 16 year old sister. The past few years have been very difficult and we needed to get away. I started looking for places in Madeira to stay in November, and had a time. My husband hates staying in condos with many other families and all of there out of control childeren, so I was looking for a private home, but because we were all going I really wanted to find a place with a pool. We really wanted to stay on the intercoastal & when I found this place I thought it was too good to be true. It had absolutely everything we were looking for!! When we arrived at the house it was so adorable. We got inside and it was so clean and nicely kept. It was perfect! Honestly, we really didn't need to leave to go do anything because everyone had just as much fun at the house. We went fishing off the dock, and swimming in the pool.. Anytime we would go out to do something my son was almost constantly asking when we would be going back to the house because he either wanted to swim or fish. We ate out a few times.. (our favorite place is crabby bills.. awesome food.. great price!) and went to the beach.. It really isn't a long walk at all.. just a block or so, and if you are anything like me its a nice easy way to burn off some of those calories you are taking in eating all the yummy seafood :) This place is really a great getaway for any couple, any family. It was absolutely perfect for us.. it was everything I wanted to make wonderful memories of our 1st family vacation! This will definately be our place to stay on our future trips to Madeira.

This rental property is an absolutely beautiful home... Well maintained and cared for.
My husband and I have been traveling to Florida for a few years now and feel we have finally found the "perfect home away from home". The atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. It is also very close to many amenities... grocery stores, bank, restaurants, and tourist attractions. You can walk to all of these places, if you like to take a stroll. We felt very safe in this neighbourhood. This home is very clean, spacious, and fully equipped in all aspects. My favorite thing was the beautiful, well maintained swimming pool, which I put to good use. Breakfast on the back patio, overlooking the waterway, was a great way to start the day.
The owner, Pete, was very accomodating and genuine in ensuring our stay was enjoyable...."Thank you Pete!"
I really cannot say enough about this property. We have already booked again for next year and are looking forward to it immensely.

I just returned from spending a week in this vacation rental with my two granddaughters, ages 8 and 11.
This lovely waterfront house is so comfortable with all you need for a great vacation. The house is a split bedroom plan with full bath for each. The master has a high quality king sized bed and plenty of dresser storage. This room is separated from the rest of the house by closets, bathrooms, etc and is very quiet. The swimming pool is beautiful with comfortable seating on the surrounding patio. We had visits from many beautiful birds and a very friendly dolphin.
The house was very clean and well maintained. The kitchen is equipped with every appliance you need and plenty of cookware and dishes. The washer and dryer is a full sized stacked unit.
The owner called me shortly after we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed and told me to let him know if I had any questions or had any problems. He was so helpful and even arranged for us to stay an extra day to coincide with out flight reservations.
As other reviewers have mentioned, there is everything you need close by this house and so much to do in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. One of our favorite outings was to Mote Marine Research in Sarasota where we got up close to manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks, sea horses and much more.
I highly recommend this vacation rental.

We stayed at the house the first week of May. The house was just as described in the pictures, very clean and comfortable. The pool was much bigger that we expected and very clean. The setting in the back was breathtaking. We watched the sun come up every morning from the patio and it also was breathtaking. We will book it again if it's available next year. And would definitely recommend the house to our friends.

We stayed here in July 2010....great house! It has everything you need! The house is clean and having the pool is awesome!! The location of the house is wonderful...close to the beach and shopping. Grocery stores are very close. We did rent a car and glad we did because we have little kids and even though beach is close, walking with all our beach supplies would have been hard. We went to many close restraurants...Dockside Dave's...great! We also enjoyed the Angry Pepper for great BBQ...giant pork tenderlion sandwich! Clearwater was fun...going to Pier 60 for shopping and we also loved Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Renting wave runners was really fun! We also loved fishing off our private pier! There is even a gas BBQ if you want to cook out! I can't say enough about the house...Pete is great to work with and had great communication! I would highly reccmend this property!!

My husband and I came with our 2 children 7 & 10. The house was clean and very cozy. The pictures do not do it justice it is much bigger than I thought. The listing description is accurate but it does not mention there is internet hookup which was great! I had everything we needed including towels, sheets and blankets not to mention a fully equipped kitchen. There was bait to fish with in the fridge when we came and tackle box and poles. It was a beautiful week in the low 80's. We loved fishing off the dock and caught lots of fish! The pool was an absolute paradise especially coming from the beach which is only a block away. There were pool toys which the kids enjoyed and the temperature in the pool did not go under 84 it was great! John's Pass is only 2 minutes down the road which has so many shops and places to eat and things to do. We wanted to go out on the pirate ship but not enough time to do it. Miniature golf down the road and we went to the Tampa zoo. We also went to the Clearwater Aquarium which the kids loved and the dolphins put on a show. The pizza place down the road had great pizza and the Amish ice cream store which we walked to had great ice cream. There is so much to do, the beach is clean and there is a rest room that the kids used so we didnt have to walk back to the house. Nothing to dislike here! The washer and dryer was great we were able to do our clothes so they were all clean before we left. I would definately recommend this wonderful house and we will be back next year!!!

We rented this house for the month of January, we were very happy with everything this home had to offer. The location, the lay out, cleanliness, and waterfront backyard. The pool was very nice, well maintained and solar heated. Unfortunately we had a cold January. I would love the opportunity to stay here again next winter.
