A very comfortable home with wonderful beds and a central location for exploring Mt. Desert Island without being in the midst of the crowds. Excellent restaurants are close by, and you will enjoy a restful experience. My wife and I highly recommend this house and location.
Owner's Response: thank you. that's exactly what we want to hear!

Perfect Home away from Home

Review Submitted: September 29, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The house is a cottage. quite small but oh, how we loved it. It is a older home with the great charm. Perfect for a family of 4. Or 2 couples as we were. Having a washer and dryer there makes it so much easier. Don't have to have pack so much. Just wish the trees were cut down to see the beautiful harbor just across the street. The small town of Southwest Harbor is a bustling place. Nice to see. They call it the quiet side for a good reason. Ideal spot to relax. Bar Harbor is near by. The owners are great to work with. Recommend Oli's Trolley in Bar Harbor. Great way to see Arcadia National Park. Don't forget the great ice cream available in Bar Harbor. (all over Mt. Desert Island)

The Perfect Getaway

dgmm Toronto, Canada
Review Submitted: September 15, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Shortly after arriving in the cozy Harbor's End cottage we felt right at home and began planning our Mount Desert Island adventure. Everything we needed was there for us – comfortable couch and chairs, stereo, TV (which we didn't even turn on), cozy beds and a fully equipped kitchen – even maps and brochures detailing the region. This is the perfect "home base" to explore MDI – take a short walk into Southwest Harbor and experience the local charm in small cafés and restaurants, bike to nearby parks and seaside villages or hop in the car for the spectacular Acadia National Park or the more "hectic" Bar Harbor. The owners were very pleasant to deal with and were helpful with our arrangements. We're already talking about coming back.

A charming place to stay

ERT Boston, MA
Review Submitted: August 10, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Harbor's End was perfectly located for exploring the quiet side of MDI and as a base for launching explorations further afield. The kitchen was well-equipped, and we ate most of our meals "at home." The beds were comfy (if a little soft for our tastes), the yard was nice, the couch was cozy, and the place had all the amenities we needed. We would definitely stay there again.

Lovely Rental in a Great Town

Review Submitted: July 7, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Harbor's End Cottage was perfect for our family. It is a bright, cheerful, and well-appointed cottage. Flowers surround the house on two sides, so the views inside and out are lovely. The beds and bedding are really comfortable and were much appreciated after a day of hiking or biking. The laundry room is so convenient for doing laundry and storing bikes or coolers. We dined out each night (usually at one of the top-notch restaurants in Southwest Harbor) but found the kitchen is so well-stocked that we debated cooking in, and easily made breakfast each day. The location is very convenient to all that Mount Desert Island offers. There wasn't a thing that we were missing or wished we had while staying at Harbor's End. The owners are helpful, friendly, accessible, and provided accurate information about the house and surroundings. Thanks!

Wonderful cottage for MDI vacation

mdmg Maryland
Review Submitted: July 4, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Our family stayed at Harbor's End for our very first vacation in Maine ever (June 08) and we are already planning to return! The cottage is clean, comfortable, simply and beautifully decorated. The owners were very friendly, helpful and communicative for both the rental process and in giving us hints about the area. The beds were so comfortable we lingered in them and looked forward to bedtime each evening after long days spent exploring gorgeous nearby Acadia National Park. Close by there are several very nice restaurants- just a short walk up the street to the center of the town of South West Harbor, the nicest town on MDI and Bar Harbor is a short drive away if you want more nightlife. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Harbor's End. It is close to Rt. 102 and you do hear the traffic, especially in the morning, but we were out and about most of each day and the traffic calms in the evening and nightime. Highly recommended for a couple, small family or small group of friends wanting to experience all that MDI has to offer.

Quintessential Maine...with the Feeling of Home

Artist Guy Stoughton, MA
Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
This quiet side of Acadia is less hectic with a relaxed and comfortable pace. There is a sense of beauty and charm that is echoed in this lovely home and one gets the feeling of being wrapped in the simple, yet beautiful essence of Maine. This home accentuates the feeling of Maine with its comforting colors and fine appointments...and being so very comfortable to be in. It's sophisticated with a comfortable bent. The immediate area is breathtaking with such a variety of activities to immerse oneself. We are hikers, mountain bikers and kayakers and there are so many places to go to to exercise our activities. And the local restaurants are superb and are certainly do-agains. Returning to this charming and comfortable oasis daily was an additional extension of the beauty that surrounded us during the day. This is a "must-do-again" and we look forward to feeling at home in such a charming home.

Wonderful cottage

Review Submitted: May 31, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
On our first trip to Southwest Harbor, we stayed at this adorable cottage. It had everything we needed and more. Bright and sunny mornings were spent at the picnic table sipping coffee watching the world go by. The town of Southwest Harbor has plenty to do and within walking distance to restaurants, shops and a great library. We’re looking forward to staying there again.

All the comforts of home

vld Union county, NJ USA
Review Submitted: May 19, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
Our stay at the Southwest Harbor Cottage with truly a relaxing vacation. Yes - the description of the cottage drew us towards our decision to rent but its comfort far exceeded what we expected. Beds and bedding - which I am a stickler about - excellent. The kitchen was more than fully equipped. The cottage and its surroundings is the perfect setting for ultimate peace and quite. Beautiful sunsets. Close to quaint little town with anything you could possible need. And not a far ride to BarHarbor - if you desire that. I will certainly return in the near future. Thanks ever so much!

Everything and more!

Rocky2 Cambridge, MA
Review Submitted: May 19, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
This is just the rental you hope to walk into. We were so happy to see that what was represented in the pictures on Cyber Rentals was true. We have rented many houses over the years and this one stands out.

This house is well equipped with just what one needs to cook a great meal, to relax with a good book on the couch, to reinvigorate in a nice hot shower after a hike or to wash away the sand from the surf, and to get a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed with wonderful linens. We also took an evening stroll into town for an ice cream cone or a look at the harbor.

The house is extremely well appointed, cared for and clean -- it must have been recented renovated because it feels brand new. The location of the cottage was perfect for us. The house was equipped with a book of suggestions that was very useful - where to eat, what to see and do, Very thoughtful recommendations. We felt at home there and we thought it was the perfect spot for us in Maine. Thanks. We will be back.
