My hubby and I live near Goldendale, WA, and our property overlooks the Columbia River and Biggs Junction, OR. We have farmed for 43 years, raising alfalfa, wheat, registered Angus cattle, and in the last 5 years, wind (have new wind turbines!) I taught high school English and PE and coached almost every sport except wrestling. I have been retired for 11 years, and Parkinsons has forced my hubby to semi-retire and turn the ranch over to our son who joined us after college. We are avid WSU alums and fans, as are our daughter and son and families. We have 4 grandsons whose ages are 5,4,3, and 2! We can all be found cheering on the Cougs at football games.
When our kids were younger, my mom used to take us all to Maui about every 3 years. When they were in college we took them to the Big Island for the first time and we were all hooked! We've been there 9 times and haven't seen it all. Prior to this year we always stayed in Kona, but decided to try Waikoloa Village because it was close to our favorite beaches. Needless to say, we loved it and will never go back to Kona. It's cooler, quieter, friendlier, less crowded with less traffic, and much closer to our favorite places. When I looked at condos last Jan. I looked at 5 complexes and about 20 condos. The Villas were the nicest and right on our favorite golf course. We loved E107 and would love to share it with you. You can golf with a discount, or just sip Mai Tais on the lanai and watch the golfers to by!
The village is close to all the best beaches, wonderful whale watching and snorkel tours out of Kawaihae, and closer to the cute towns on the North side and those above Hilo. You can easily go to Waipio Valley and Akaka Falls in an afternoon, or go to Hilo's farmers' market and it doesn't take all day like it did from Kona. We love the extra lanai off our master bedroom and enjoy sipping Kona coffee there in the mornings!
