Photos and Description of the Santa Fe vacation bungalow rental
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, full-size foldout couch,sleeps 3-4

Casita de la Luna is the epitome of the charming, authentic casita that everyone looks for when visiting Santa Fe, located within a 10-15 min. (.7 mile) walk of old Santa Fe's picturesque plaza. In the summer, enjoy our walled garden (shared with our other casita). IIn the winter, cozy up by your own kiva fireplace. It is very secluded and quiet, featuring authentic hand-painted Mexican tile and coved ceilings with original vigas, furnished with hand-carved Southwestern style furniture. The bedroom features fine linens for a wonderful night's sleep. In the bathroom, enjoy a large jacuzzi tub and stall shower. There is a full-size sleeper sofa in the living room area. The sunny atmosphere is the result of skylights throughout. Tastefully decorated with attractive artwork and hand-woven rugs. Off-street parking available as well as laundry facilities. Upon your arrival, you will find all the ingredients for a continental breakfast! The casita is maintained with care and pride.

Cooling: The property does not have air conditioning and it is not necessary. This is the original adobe construction which has been used in New Mexico for centuries. The adobe walls keep the casitas cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only kind of air conditioning that I could put in these historic buildings would be window units and I refuse to do that as they can be quite noisy and unsightly. We do have fans, as well as small portable evaporative coolers available for the summer months if people want to use them. In addition, in Santa Fe, the nights are about 30 degrees cooler than the days, so we do not have warm summer nights. We have guests who return every summer and know that the casitas are very comfortable. I remember a couple from Southern California who stayed with us a few years ago. They were concerned that there was no air conditioning, but they decided to stay anyway. They later told me that they were totally comfortable and were very pleased to have stayed in our property.

Miscellaneous: One week stay minimum.

About Roxanne Connan

I love owning the property and knowing the people who come back year after year. We have lived in Santa Fe for over 12 years and live a little bit outside of the city limits. We have a 15-year-old son, two collies and a cat.

Roxanne Connan purchased this bungalow in 2002
Why Roxanne Connan chose Santa Fe

When I first saw it, I knew it was the one because of the privacy, quiet, peacefulness and short walk to the plaza; less expensive than staying on the East side. Quiet and private. A few blocks from the new Railyard.

What makes this bungalow unique

I always put in the makings for a breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bread, jam, fruit, butter) so people won't have to arrive in the afternoon and then immediately go find a grocery store.

Secluded, Charming Casita

I've stayed at both casitas on the property on Pena Place for several years. I stopped looking for any other place to stay after finding Pena Place. The property is at the end of a quiet street in the lovely Guadalupe District. The casita is absolutely charming, and Roxanne, property owner, does a superb job of making it feel like home away from home. The vigas, floors, adobe walls and kiva are beautiful. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need, if you want to cook in. When you arrive, you'll find a bag of goodies to get you started on your vacation (milk, juice, fresh fruit, bread and always a sweet treat!). The quiet courtyard is beautiful and secluded, with only the sounds of a water fountain. The landscaping is beautiful and the property is immaculate and exceptionally clean. Internet access, CD player, DVD/Video and washer/dryer, make it very easy to never leave the property. The neighborhood is great and you're just a pleasant 10 minute walk to downtown SF and less than that to great shops and restaurants in the Guadalupe District. Roxanne is responsive and will follow up immediately if you run into any problems. Each year that I've returned, she's added some new touch to the property to make it even more special. It is a very special, wonderful retreat!! Not to be missed.

Five Stars for Casita de la Luna!

This was the perfect rental for our week in Santa Fe: quiet, relaxing, romantic. The casita is large and nicely furnished. The king sized bed was extremely comfortable. The living area is a kitchen with excellent dishes and utensils for cooking, a dining table and chairs and a soft sofa in front of a kiva fireplace. The kiva made the room very warm (not smoky), and the wood is all supplied. When we arrived, the owners had provided breakfast, coffee and sweet treats. Very thoughtful. There is a quiet courtyard, but it was too cold to enjoy in February. Everything about this rental is first rate, and absolutely made our stay in Santa Fe. It is easy walking distance to the Plaza. There are even closer restaurants and shops in the Railyard and along Guadalupe. This was a wonderful reeat for my husband and I. I would highly recommend this casita and will definitely return. Thank you so much.
Owner's Response: Dear Mr. & Mrs. D,

No regrets

Imagine staying at your foodie friend's pied à terre in Santa Fe. This is how it felt for me during my almost two week stay at the Casita de la Luna. I felt immediately at home in this quiet, peaceful and very clean casita with its well equiped kitchen. To make matters even better, the casita is well located between the downtown core and the railyard, in the Guadalupe district. My visit to Santa Fe did not involve a car and this was not a problem as I could easily walk to most places of interest. In fact, walking in Santa Fe is the perfect way to admire the landscape, the skyscape, and the lovely adobe homes and buildings.

This was my first experience renting a home; normally, I stay at a hotel when I travel. I am delighted that I chose the Casita de la Luna. It certainly increased my appreciation of beautiful Santa Fe. I am convinced that I made the perfect choice by staying at the Casita de la Luna.

Sincere thanks to Roxanne and her husband for a great stay at the casita and a fantastic visit to Santa Fe.

Owner's Response: Dear Nichole,
I really appreciate you taking the time to enter your comments. I'm not sure why your comments were entered under this property. Actually, you stayed in Casita del Sol, which is our VRBO #268310. Both casitas are located at the same physical address and so most of the amenities are the same. Anyway, I'm very glad you that enjoyed your stay.

We had a wonderful ten days staying here. Roxanne has taken great steps to make it well-equipped and comfortable, from the snacks and breakfast items to the deluxe towels. I was particularly impressed by the well-equipped kitchen. We were even able to prepare a complete Thanksgiving dinner! Thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return soon. Thanks, Elaine

Everything we had hoped for

Very charming beautiful comfortable and the owners had thought of absolutely everything. We loved the kiva fireplace and the quiet location on a dead end street. It was unseasonably cold while we were there so we did not walk to the town center from there but in nice weather it would be a pleasant walk. It was well maintained and we loved the well-lit aspect of the rooms, art on the walls and all the details. We would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

Wonderful accommodations for a first trip to Santa Fe. The property is lovely and very well maintained.
There are some great restaurants in the area, and it is a quick walk to the Railyard. We hope to visit again. Highly recommended.
