Secluded, Charming Casita

JennyinSanFrancisco San Francisco, CA
Review Submitted: July 16, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2006
I've stayed at both casitas on the property on Pena Place for several years. I stopped looking for any other place to stay after finding Pena Place. The property is at the end of a quiet street in the lovely Guadalupe District. The casita is absolutely charming, and Roxanne, property owner, does a superb job of making it feel like home away from home. The vigas, floors, adobe walls and kiva are beautiful. The kitchen is well appointed with everything you need, if you want to cook in. When you arrive, you'll find a bag of goodies to get you started on your vacation (milk, juice, fresh fruit, bread and always a sweet treat!). The quiet courtyard is beautiful and secluded, with only the sounds of a water fountain. The landscaping is beautiful and the property is immaculate and exceptionally clean. Internet access, CD player, DVD/Video and washer/dryer, make it very easy to never leave the property. The neighborhood is great and you're just a pleasant 10 minute walk to downtown SF and less than that to great shops and restaurants in the Guadalupe District. Roxanne is responsive and will follow up immediately if you run into any problems. Each year that I've returned, she's added some new touch to the property to make it even more special. It is a very special, wonderful retreat!! Not to be missed.

Couldn't Have Been Better!!

Savvy Travelers Northridge, CA
Review Submitted: July 10, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Talk about comfy and homey!! While the pictures of Casita de la Luna are very nice, the real ambience cannot be felt until you arrive in person. Everything was spic and span, and all details for a wonderful stay were supplied. The king size bed was extremely comfortable which was a real plus. An added bonus was the "starter" breakfast items; milk, butter, OJ, delicious grainy/seeded bread, strawberry preserves, a fruit basket, New Mexican coffee and cookies, and some decadent chocolate candies from a local shop; all of which we totally devoured, enjoyed and appreciated. As mentioned by other reviewers, you are within walking distance of just about everything. The owners supplied a large basket filled with brochures regarding area activities, maps, and restaurant recommendations. The area cuisine is one of our absolute favorites! It was such a pleasure to return in the evening to a quiet, cozy, fully-equipped casita as opposed to a cramped, standard hotel room with noisy, inconsiderate neighboring guests. Our week flew by faster than expected, so we have already booked for next year and can hardly wait for our return. The owners are extremely personable and helpful, making the reservation process a pleasure. We've stayed elsewhere in town in the past, but from here on, Casita de la Luna is Santa Fe HomeAway.
Owner's Response: Dear Pam and Gary,
Thanks for adding your comments to this review section. I am sure that others who are looking for an accommodation will really appreciate it. See you next year.
Roxanne

wonderful stay

Review Submitted: May 27, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The casita was well maintained and very charming. We were able to walk to many of our destinations. The off road parking was very convenient. We made use of the courtyard with our morning coffee and our evening glass of wine. It was a very relaxing stay and we thank you for your thoughtfulness in leaving us a welcome gift.
Owner's Response: Dear Dwight and Debra,
I am so gratified that you enjoyed your stay, and that you especially liked the "sweet" gift that I left for you. I hope you are able to come again.

More than a little slice of heaven!

Terri Lynne Sacramento, CA
Review Submitted: March 13, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
To say our experience of “Casita De La Luna” was a little slice of heaven would be a tremendous understatement. I know why the swallows return yearly to San Juan Capistrano, it is the same reason why I return to Santa Fe year after year. It’s because of the haven we have found nestled in the heart of Santa Fe. After a long day of air travel, I get so excited knowing soon I will being seeing the “St. Francis” exit and know I am about to arrive at my home away from home. No matter what time of day you arrive at your casita when you open the door it welcomes you. In our casita our fireplace is set and ready to go. It has all the comforts of home and then some. My husband does not like to travel because he can never get comfortable in the beds provided at many places. Here he knows he is going to get that great night’s sleep. The bed is not too firm and not too soft. Within moments he is happily snoring into his king sized feather pillow. Roxanne Connan goes out of her way to make sure that while you are here, you feel relaxed, cozy and that this is truly your home away from home. We have come at many different times of the year. Fiesta in September is one of our favorites. No matter what time of year you visit there is always something going on or something to do. I loved the basket of information that is organized for each visitor. Everything you may want to see or visit is right there at your fingertip. We love to look at the 100 plus year old homes on the way to the Plaza. Half a block away Borders is in the San Busco shopping center, or in the casita bedroom there are books from many well known authors to enjoy in the garden. We really didn’t need our car to see a lot of Santa Fe. Time seems to stand still here and one tends to appreciate the value of a stroll. I could go on and on about Pena Place forever. Instead I will just get my reservation in for next year. I don’t want to miss out on yet another vacation made perfect by starting with a casita at Pena Place! Thank you Roxanne Connan for the time and effort you put in to making our stay unforgettable year after year!! Terri Lynne & Dale
Owner's Response: Dear Terri and Dale,
Thanks very much for your kind comments. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay. Come back again anytime. Roxanne

a wonderful place to stay!!

Lee and Sue Ocean Shores, Washington
Review Submitted: February 20, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
What a wonderful place to stay while getting to know Santa Fe! The casita is comfortable, quiet, nicely furnished and decorated, with a well-equipped kitchen and a very spacious bathroom. Roxanne's many little touches make you feel most welcome. The location is convenient for walking to the plaza, farmer's market, and many galleries and shops. As a base for urban walking around the city it can't be beat. We too hope someday to return to Casa de la Luna.
Owner's Response: Dear Lee and Sue,
Many thanks for taking the time to add your comments. You know from doing your own search for a vacation rental in Santa Fe that the comments really help reassure those who are looking. It would be our pleasure to have you as return guests at any time. Kind regards, Roxanne

My husband and I stayed at casita de la luna for about 21/2 months.this casita was not only clean and decorated to make you feel right at home it was also a great location to the plaza and a lot of the resturants that santa fe has to offer.the owner made sure that you had every thing you needed to make your stay a pleasant one.We would most certainly return for another stay at this casita.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate it and feel gratified that you would take the time to write it. Thank you for leaving the casita and contents in such good condition. We would be pleased to have you return to either of our casitas next time you plan a visit to Santa Fe. I hope you get through the hurricane season relatively unscathed. Roxanne

owners think of EVERYTHING

Marina from LA, CA Los Angeles, CA
Review Submitted: December 12, 2007 Date of Stay: December 2007
First of all - the place is so charming, even more so that the pictures can capture...The owner's have a wonderful sense of style and aestetic, the description is very accurate, but the reality is even more impressive. Walking distance to the Plaza and restaurants and galleries...

My friends and I were particularly impressed with the owner's attention to detail - they thought of everything!! First off it is very clean and you will find all the comforts of home (and probably even more!)... From the kitchen supplies (including some breakfast food to get us started!)... to the linens, to the CDs and books (just in case!)... I can't say enough about it... We love it!!! I would absolutely recommend this rental to anyone looking to experience authentic Santa Fe charm.

Our first stay (two months) at this picturesque casita with large patio enclosed by adobe walls--well-shaded, beautiful flowers; finished nicely with vegas, kiva fireplace, wood floors, well-equipped kitchen; every conceivable amenity. Fifteen minute walk to plaza and downtown attractions--museums, galleries, churches, etc. Gracious and accommodating hosts. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Casita in Santa Fe

Neals Fernandina Beach, Florida
Review Submitted: July 10, 2007 Date of Stay: September 2006
We have stayed at the Casa de Luna on five separate occasions in the last six years for a period of one to one and a half months. Each and every time we have walked in the door, it has felt like arriving back home. The central location, privacy, beautiful lodging, convenience of laundry and most especially the easy walk to the Plaza and Guadalupe District make this an ideal location. We love it!!!

Santa Fe Casita

Review Submitted: July 10, 2007 Date of Stay: August 2006
My wife and I have stayed at this casita four times. It is clean, spacious and charming. It is also reasonably priced, a much better value than the Santa Fe hotels.
The location is safe and in easy distance to the downtown plaza and other nearby restaurants and galleries.
Highly recommended!
